Matthew 22
1 Yeshua answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
Jésus prit la parole et leur parla de nouveau en paraboles, et dit:
2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding feast for his son,
Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui fit des noces pour son fils.
3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.
Il envoya ses serviteurs appeler les invités aux noces, mais ils ne voulurent pas venir.
4 Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding feast!”’
Il envoya de nouveau d'autres serviteurs, en disant: « Dites à ceux qui sont invités: « Voici, j'ai préparé mon repas. Mon bétail et mes bêtes grasses sont tués, et tout est prêt. Venez au festin de noces ».
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Mais ils s'en moquèrent et s'en allèrent chacun de leur côté, l'un dans sa ferme, l'autre dans sa marchandise;
6 and the rest grabbed his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.
et les autres s'emparèrent de ses serviteurs, les traitèrent de façon indigne et les tuèrent.
7 When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Lorsque le roi entendit cela, il se mit en colère, envoya ses armées, fit périr ces meurtriers et brûla leur ville.
8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.
« Alors il dit à ses serviteurs: 'Les noces sont prêtes, mais ceux qui ont été invités n'en étaient pas dignes.
9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’
Allez donc aux carrefours des routes, et invitez à ces noces tous ceux que vous trouverez.
10 Those servants went out into the highways and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.
Ces serviteurs allèrent sur les routes et rassemblèrent tous ceux qu'ils trouvèrent, bons et mauvais. Les noces furent remplies d'invités.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,
Mais lorsque le roi entra pour voir les invités, il vit là un homme qui n'avait pas de vêtements de noces,
12 and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.
et il lui dit: « Mon ami, comment es-tu entré ici sans vêtements de noces? » Il resta muet.
13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness. That is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’
Alors le roi dit aux serviteurs: « Liez-lui les pieds et les mains, emmenez-le et jetez-le dans les ténèbres du dehors. C'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents ».
14 For many are called, but few chosen.”
Car il y a beaucoup d'appelés, mais peu d'élus. »
15 Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
Alors les pharisiens allèrent se concerter pour savoir comment ils pourraient le piéger dans son discours.
16 They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Rabbi, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach; for you aren’t partial to anyone.
Ils lui envoyèrent leurs disciples, ainsi que les Hérodiens, en disant: « Maître, nous savons que tu es honnête et que tu enseignes la voie de Dieu en vérité, quels que soient ceux que tu enseignes, car tu n'as de parti pris pour personne.
17 Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
Dis-nous donc ce que tu penses. Est-il licite de payer l'impôt à César, ou non? »
18 But Yeshua perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
Mais Jésus, ayant perçu leur méchanceté, dit: « Pourquoi me tentez-vous, hypocrites?
19 Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.
Montrez-moi l'argent des impôts. » Ils lui ont apporté un denier.
20 He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”
Il leur demanda: « A qui appartient cette image et cette inscription? »
21 They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
Ils lui ont dit: « A César. » Puis il leur dit: « Rendez donc à César ce qui est à César, et à Dieu ce qui est à Dieu. »
22 When they heard it, they marveled, and left him and went away.
Quand ils l'entendirent, ils furent dans l'étonnement, le quittèrent et s'en allèrent.
23 On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,
Ce jour-là, des sadducéens (ceux qui disent qu'il n'y a pas de résurrection) vinrent le trouver. Ils l'interrogèrent,
24 saying, “Rabbi, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.’
en disant: Maître, Moïse a dit: Si un homme meurt sans avoir d'enfants, son frère épousera sa femme et suscitera une descendance à son frère.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.
Or, il y avait parmi nous sept frères. Le premier se maria et mourut, et, n'ayant pas de descendance, il laissa sa femme à son frère.
26 In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
De même, le second, et le troisième, jusqu'au septième.
27 After them all, the woman died.
Après eux tous, la femme est morte.
28 In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”
A la résurrection donc, de qui sera-t-elle la femme des sept? Car ils l'ont tous eue. »
29 But Yeshua answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mais Jésus leur répondit: « Vous êtes dans l'erreur, vous ne connaissez pas les Écritures, ni la puissance de Dieu.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.
Car, dans la résurrection, ils ne se marient ni ne sont donnés en mariage, mais ils sont comme les anges de Dieu dans le ciel.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
Pour ce qui est de la résurrection des morts, n'avez-vous pas lu ce que Dieu vous a dit, en disant:
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
« Je suis le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob »? Dieu n'est pas le Dieu des morts, mais des vivants. »
33 When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
Lorsque la foule l'entendit, elle fut étonnée de son enseignement.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
Mais les pharisiens, ayant appris qu'il avait réduit au silence les sadducéens, se rassemblèrent.
35 One of them, a Torah scholar, asked him a question, testing him.
L'un d'eux, juriste, lui posa une question pour l'éprouver.
36 “Rabbi, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”
« Maître, quel est le plus grand commandement de la loi? »
37 Yeshua said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Jésus lui dit: « Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta pensée ».
38 This is the first and great commandment.
Tel est le premier et le plus grand des commandements.
39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Un second commandement semblable est celui-ci: « Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même ».
40 The whole Torah and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”
Toute la loi et les prophètes dépendent de ces deux commandements. »
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Yeshua asked them a question,
Comme les pharisiens étaient réunis, Jésus leur posa une question,
42 saying, “What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”
en disant: « Que pensez-vous du Christ? De qui est-il le fils? » Ils lui ont dit: « De David. »
43 He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
Il leur dit: « Comment donc David, dans l'Esprit, l'appelle-t-il Seigneur, en disant,
44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’?
« Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur, s'asseoir à ma droite, jusqu'à ce que je fasse de tes ennemis un marchepied pour tes pieds »?
45 “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
« Si donc David l'appelle Seigneur, comment est-il son fils? »
46 No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.
Personne ne put lui répondre un mot, et personne n'osa plus lui poser de questions à partir de ce jour-là.
