< Luke 18 >

1 He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray and not give up,
ᏚᏟᎶᏍᏓᏁᎴᏃ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏍᏕ ᎤᎬᏩᎴᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏴᏫ ᏂᎪᎯᎸ ᎤᎾᏓᏙᎵᏍᏙᏗᏱ, ᎠᎴ ᏧᏂᏯᏪᎢᏍᏗ ᏂᎨᏒᎾ;
2 saying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God and didn’t respect man.
ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎡᎮ ᏗᎫᎪᏗᏍᎩ ᎢᎸᎯᏢ ᎦᏚᎲᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᏂᎦᎾᏰᏍᎬᎾ, ᎠᎴ ᏴᏫ ᏂᏚᏁᎶᏛᎾ;
3 A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’
ᎠᎴ ᎤᏬᏑᎶᏨᎯ ᎾᎿᎭᎦᏚᎲ ᎡᎮᎢ; ᎾᏍᎩᏃ ᎤᎷᏤᎴᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᏂᎦᏪᏍᎨᎢ, ᏚᏳᎪᏛ ᏂᏍᎩᎾᏛᏂᏏ ᏦᏍᏓᏓᏱᎵᏙᎯ.
4 He wouldn’t for a while; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man,
ᎠᏎᏃ ᎤᏉᏌᏁ ᎢᎸᏍᎩ ᎢᎪᎯᏛ; ᎣᏂᏍᎩᏂ ᎯᎠ ᏂᎤᏪᏎ ᎤᏩᏒ ᏧᏓᏅᏛᎢ, ᏝᏍᎩᏂᏃᏅ ᏱᏥᎾᏰᏍᎦ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᎥᏝ ᏱᏗᏥᏯᏁᎶᏗ ᏴᏫ;
5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”
ᎠᏎᏃ ᎯᎠ ᎤᏬᏑᎶᏨᎯ ᏣᏆᏕᏯᏙᏗᎭ ᏅᏓᎦᎵᏍᏙᏔᏂ ᏚᏳᎪᏛ ᏅᏓᏥᏯᏛᏁᎵ, ᏂᎪᎯᎸᏰᏃ ᎦᎷᎬ ᏱᏓᎩᏯᏪᎢᏍᏓ.
6 The Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎢᏣᎦᏌᏯᏍᏓ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛᎾ ᎢᏯᏛᏁᎯ ᏗᎫᎪᏗᏍᎩ ᏂᎦᏪᏍᎬᎢ.
7 Won’t God avenge his chosen ones who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
ᏝᏍᎪᏃ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᏚᏳᎪᏛ ᏱᏂᏙᎬᏛᏂᏏ ᎤᏩᏒ ᏧᏤᎵ ᎨᎦᏑᏴᏛ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏗᎬᏩᎩᏨᏗ ᏥᎬᏩᏓᏙᎵᏍᏓᏁᎭ, ᎾᏍᏉ ᎪᎯᏗᏳ ᏱᏓᏙᎯᏕᎭ?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
ᎢᏨᏲᏎᎭ ᏞᎩᏳ ᏙᏓᎫᎴᏏ. ᎠᏎᏃ, ᏴᏫ ᎤᏪᏥ ᎦᎷᏨᎭ, ᎪᎯᏳᏗᏍᎪ ᎨᏒ ᏛᏩᏛᎯ ᎡᎶᎯ?
9 He also spoke this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others:
ᎯᎠᏃ ᏚᏟᎶᏍᏓᏁᎴ ᎩᎶ ᎢᏳᎾᏍᏗ ᎤᏅᏒ ᎠᎾᏓᎸᏉᏗᏍᎩ, ᎾᏂᏍᎦᏅᎾ ᎤᎾᏤᎸᎯ, ᎤᏩᎾᏓᎴᏃ ᏅᎵᏌᎵ ᏗᏂᏰᎸᏍᎩ.
10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
ᎠᏂᏔᎵ ᎠᏂᏍᎦᏯ ᎤᏛᎾ-ᏗᎦᎳᏫᎢᏍᏗᏱ ᎤᎾᏓᏙᎵᏍᏔᏅᏎᎢ, ᎠᏏᏴᏫ ᎠᏆᎵᏏ ᎨᏎᎢ, ᏐᎢᏃ ᎠᏕᎸ-ᎠᎩᏏᏙᎯ.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed by himself like this: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men: extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
ᎠᏆᎵᏏ ᎤᎴᏁ ᎤᏩᏒ ᎨᏒᎢ ᎤᏓᏙᎵᏍᏔᏁ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ; ᏣᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎬᏯᎵᎡᎵᏤᎭ ᎠᏂᏐᎢ ᏴᏫ ᏄᎾᏍᏛᎢ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎾᏆᏍᏛᎾ ᏥᎩ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᏎᏉ ᎠᎾᏓᎩᎡᎯ ᏥᎩ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᏚᏳᎪᏛᎾ ᎢᏯᎾᏛᏁᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᏗᎾᏓᏲᏁᎯ, ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᏉ ᎯᎠ ᎠᏕᎸ-ᎠᎩᏏᏙᎯ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏄᏍᏛ ᎾᏆᏍᏛᎾ ᏥᎩ.
12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’
ᏑᎾᏙᏓᏆᏍᏗ ᎨᏒ ᏔᎵ ᎠᎹᏟ ᏂᎬᏍᎪᎢ; ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᎥ ᎠᎩᎾᎥ ᎠᏍᎪᎯᏁ ᎪᏣᎴᏛ ᏥᎥᏍᎪᎢ.
13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
ᎠᏕᎸᏃ-ᎠᎩᏏᏙᎯ ᎢᏅ ᏧᎴᏁᎢ, ᎥᏝ ᏰᎵ ᎦᎸᎳᏗ ᏫᏗᎬᏩᎧᏃᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᎢ, ᎦᏁᏥᏉᏍᎩᏂ ᎤᏩᏂᎴᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ; ᏣᏁᎳᏅᎯ, ᏍᎩᏙᎵᎩ ᏥᏍᎦᎾᎢ.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
ᎢᏨᏲᏎᎭ, ᎯᎠ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᏍᎦᏯ ᎤᏚᏓᎴᏛ ᏧᏪᏅᏒ ᏭᎶᏎᎢ, ᏐᎢᏃ ᎥᏝ. ᎩᎶᏰᏃ ᎤᏩᏒ ᎢᎠᏓᏌᎳᏗᏍᎨᏍᏗ ᎡᎳᏗ ᎢᏯᎬᏁᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ, ᎩᎶᏃ ᎤᏩᏒ ᎡᎳᏗ ᏂᎠᏓᏛᏁᎮᏍᏗ ᎠᏥᏌᎳᏙᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ.
15 They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᏉ ᏕᎬᏩᏘᏃᎮᎴ ᏧᎾᏍᏗ ᏗᏂᏲᎵ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏧᏏᏔᏗᏍᏗᏱ; ᎠᏎᏃ ᎬᏩᏍᏓᏩᏗᏙᎯ ᎤᎾᏙᎴᎰᏒ ᏚᏂᎬᏍᎪᎸᏁᎢ.
16 Yeshua summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
ᏥᏌᏃ ᏫᏚᏯᏅᎲ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎤᎾᏁᎳᎩ ᏗᏤᎵᏏ ᏗᏂᏲᎵ ᎬᎩᎷᏤᏗᏱ, ᎠᎴ ᏞᏍᏗ ᏗᏥᏅᏍᏓᏕᎸᎩ; ᎾᏍᎩᏰᏃ ᏄᎾᏍᏗ ᎾᎿᎭᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎨᏒᎢ.
17 Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
ᎤᏙᎯᏳᎯᏯ ᎯᎠ ᏂᏨᏪᏎᎭ, ᎩᎶ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎨᏒ ᏂᏓᏓᏂᎸᎬᎾ ᎢᎨᏎᏍᏗ ᎾᏍᎩᏯ ᎠᏲᎵ ᏥᏓᏓᏂᎸᎪᎢ, ᎥᏝ ᎾᎿᎭᎤᏴᏍᏗ ᏱᎨᏎᏍᏗ.
18 A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Rabbi, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
ᎩᎶᏃ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᏄᎬᏫᏳᏌᏕᎩ ᎤᏛᏛᏁ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎰᏍᏛ ᏔᏕᏲᎲᏍᎩ, ᎦᏙ ᏯᏆᏛᏁᎸ ᏫᎾᏍᏛᎾ ᎬᏂᏛ ᏱᏥᏩᏛ? (aiōnios g166)
19 Yeshua asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one: God.
ᏥᏌᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎴᎢ, ᎦᏙᏃ ᎰᏍᏛ ᎢᏍᏉᏎᎭ? ᎥᏝ ᎩᎶ ᎣᏍᏛ ᏱᎩ ᏌᏉ ᎤᏩᏒᎯᏳ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ.
20 You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”
ᏕᎯᎦᏔᎭᏉ ᏗᎧᎿᎭᏩᏛᏍᏗ, ᏞᏍᏗ ᏣᏓᏲᏁᎸᎩ, ᏞᏍᏗ ᏣᏓᎸᎩ, ᏞᏍᏗ ᏣᏃᏍᎩᏒᎩ, ᏞᏍᏗ ᎦᏰᎪᎩ ᏣᏃᎮᎸᎩ, ᏕᎩᎸᏉᏕᏍᏗ ᏣᏙᏓ ᎠᎴ ᏣᏥ.
21 He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”
ᎯᎠᏃ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏂᎦᏛ ᏓᎩᎧᎾᏩᏕᏅ ᏥᏧᏣ ᎨᏒ ᏅᏓᎬᏩᏓᎴ ᏅᏛ.
22 When Yeshua heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
ᏥᏌᏃ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎯᎠ ᎤᏛᎦᏅ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎴᎢ, ᎠᏏ ᏑᏓᎴᎩ ᏣᎷᎳ; ᎯᎾᏚᎦ ᏂᎦᏛ ᏣᎾᎥᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏘᏯᏙᎯᏏ ᎤᏲ ᎢᏳᎾᏛᎿᎭᏕᎩ, ᎦᎸᎳᏗᏃ ᏫᏣᎮᏍᏗ ᏧᎬᏩᎶᏗ; ᏖᏒᏃ ᏍᎩᏍᏓᏩᏕᏒᎭ.
23 But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
ᎾᏍᎩᏃ ᎯᎠ ᎤᏛᎦᏅ ᎤᏣᏘ ᎤᏲ ᎤᏰᎸᏁᎢ; ᎤᏣᏘᏰᏃ ᎤᏪᎿᎭᎢᏳ ᎨᏎᎢ.
24 Yeshua, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!
ᏥᏌᏃ ᎤᎪᎲ ᎤᏣᏘ ᎤᏲ ᎤᏰᎸᏒᎢ, ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᏂᎦᎥ ᎠᏍᏓᏱᏳ ᏧᏁᎿᎭᎢ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᏗᎨᏒ ᏭᏂᏴᏍᏗᏱ!
25 For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”
ᎤᏟᏰᏃ ᎠᎯᏗᏳ ᎨᎻᎵ ᎤᎦᏛᎴᎯᏍᏗᏱ ᏴᎩ ᎦᏌᏁᎾᏛᏗᏱ ᎠᏃ ᎤᏪᎿᎭᎢ ᏴᏫ ᏭᏴᏍᏗᏱ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᏗᎨᏒᎢ.
26 Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”
ᎤᎾᏛᎦᏅᎯᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏂᏪᏎᎢ, ᎦᎪᏃ ᏰᎵ ᏯᏥᏍᏕᎸ?
27 But he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
ᎯᎠᏃ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏴᏫ ᏰᎵ ᎢᎬᏩᎾᏛᏁᏗ ᏂᎨᏒᎾ ᏥᎩ, ᏰᎵᏉ ᎢᎬᏩᏛᏁᏗ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ.
28 Peter said, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.”
ᎿᎭᏉᏃ ᏈᏓ ᎯᎠ ᏂᎤᏪᏎᎢ, ᎬᏂᏳᏉ ᎠᏴ ᏂᎦᏗᏳ ᏙᎩᏲᏐᏅ, ᎠᎴ ᎢᏨᏍᏓᏩᏕᏅ.
29 He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,
ᎯᎠᏃ ᏂᏚᏪᏎᎴᎢ, ᎤᏙᎯᏳᎯᏯ ᎯᎠ ᏂᏨᏪᏎᎭ, ᎥᏝ ᎩᎶ ᏧᏮᏕᏨᎯ ᏱᎩ ᎦᏁᎸᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏧᎦᏴᎵᎨᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎠᎾᎵᏅᏟ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏓᎵᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᏧᏪᏥ, ᏅᏓᏳᎵᏍᏙᏔᏅᎯ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ ᎨᏒᎢ,
30 who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.” (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
ᎾᏍᎩ ᎠᏥᏁᏗ ᏂᎨᏒᎾ ᎨᏒ ᎤᏣᏘ ᎢᏳᏩᎫᏗ ᎪᎯ ᎨᏒᎢ, ᏐᎢᏱᏃ ᏗᎨᏒ ᎬᏂᏛ ᏫᎾᏍᏛᎾ. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
31 He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.
ᎿᎭᏉᏃ ᏔᎳᏚ ᎢᏯᏂᏛ ᎢᏴᏛ ᏫᏚᏘᏅᏍᏔᏁᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎯᎠ ᏂᏚᏪᏎᎴᎢ, ᎬᏂᏳᏉ ᏥᎷᏏᎵᎻ ᏫᏗᎦᏘ, ᎠᎴ ᏂᎦᎥ ᏚᏃᏪᎸ ᎠᎾᏙᎴᎰᏍᎩ ᏴᏫ ᎤᏪᏥ ᎠᏥᏃᎮᏍᎬ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎢᏳᎵᏍᏙᏗ ᎨᏎᏍᏗ.
32 For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.
ᏧᎾᏓᎴᏅᏛᏰᏃ ᏴᏫ ᏙᏓᎨᏥᏲᎯᏎᎵ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᏰᎦᏕᎰᏔᏂ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᎦᏰᏥᏐᏢᏔᏂ, ᎠᎴ ᏙᏓᏰᎦᎵᏥᏍᏈ,
33 They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”
ᎠᎴ ᏓᎬᏩᎵᎥᏂᎵ, ᎠᎴ ᏓᎬᏩᎵ; ᏦᎢᏁᏃ ᎢᎦ ᏙᏛᎠᎴᎯᏌᏂ.
34 They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.
ᎠᎴ ᎯᎠ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎥᏝ ᏳᏃᎵᏤᎢ; ᎠᎴ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏒ ᎨᎬᏍᎦᎳᏁᎴᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎥᏝ ᏯᏂᎦᏔᎮ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᎦᏛᎬ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏁᏨᎢ.
35 As he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.
ᎠᎴ ᎯᎠ ᏄᎵᏍᏔᏁᎢ, ᎾᏍᎩ ᏤᎵᎪ ᎾᎥ ᎤᎷᏨ, ᎩᎶ ᎢᏳᏍᏗ ᏗᎨᏫ ᏅᏃᎱᎶᏗ ᎤᏬᎴ ᎠᏚᎳᏗᏍᎨᎢ;
36 Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.
ᎤᏛᎦᏅᏃ ᎤᏂᏣᏘ ᎠᏂᎶᏍᎬ ᎤᏛᏛᏁ ᎾᏍᎩ ᎤᏰᎸᏛᎢ.
37 They told him that Yeshua of Nazareth was passing by.
ᎬᏩᏃᏁᎴᏃ ᎾᏍᎩ ᏥᏌ ᎾᏎᎵᏗ ᎡᎯ ᎦᎶᏍᎬᎢ.
38 He cried out, “Yeshua, you son of David, have mercy on me!”
ᎤᏪᎷᏁᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᏥᏌ, ᏕᏫ ᎤᏪᏥ, ᏍᎩᏙᎵᎩ.
39 Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”
ᎢᎬᏱᏃ ᎠᏁᎩ ᎬᏩᎬᏍᎪᎸᏁᎢ, ᎡᎳᏪ ᎲᎾ ᎬᏬᏎᎴᎢ; ᎠᏎᏃ ᎤᏟᏉ ᎢᎦᎢ ᎤᏪᎷᏁᎢ; ᏕᏫ ᎤᏪᏥ ᏍᎩᏙᎵᎩ, ᎠᏗᏍᎨᎢ.
40 Standing still, Yeshua commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,
ᏥᏌᏃ ᎤᎴᏫᏍᏔᏅ ᎤᏁᏤ ᎠᎦᏘᏃᎮᏗᏱ; ᎿᎭᏉᏃ ᎾᎥ ᎤᎷᏨ ᎤᏛᏛᏁᎢ,
41 “What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”
ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᎦᏙ ᏣᏚᎵ ᎬᏯᏛᏁᏗᏱ? ᎯᎠᏃ ᏄᏪᏎᎢ, ᏣᎬᏫᏳᎯ, ᎥᎠᎩᎪᏩᏛᏗᏱ ᎠᏆᏚᎵᎭ.
42 Yeshua said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”
ᏥᏌᏃ ᎯᎠ ᏄᏪᏎᎴᎢ, ᎨᏣᎪᏩᏛᏗ ᏫᏂᎦᎵᏍᏓ; ᏦᎯᏳᏒ ᏣᏍᏕᎸ.
43 Immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
ᎩᎳᏉᏃ ᎢᏴᏛ ᎬᏩᎪᏩᏛᏗ ᏄᎵᏍᏔᏁᎢ, ᎠᎴ ᎤᏍᏓᏩᏛᏎ ᎦᎸᏉᏗᏍᎨ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ; ᏂᎦᏛᏃ ᏴᏫ ᎤᏂᎪᎲ ᎤᏂᎸᏉᏔᏁ ᎤᏁᎳᏅᎯ.
