Joshua 23
1 After many days, when the LORD had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,
Después de mucho tiempo, cuando el Señor le había dado descanso a Israel de las guerras por todos lados, y Josué era viejo y lleno de años,
2 Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said to them, “I am old and well advanced in years.
Josué llamó todo Israel, a sus hombres responsables, a sus jefes, a sus jueces y a sus supervisores, y les dijo: Soy viejo y lleno de años.
3 You have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is the LORD your God who has fought for you.
Han visto todo lo que el Señor su Dios ha hecho a todas estas naciones que se les oponían; pues el SEÑOR su Dios ha estado luchando por ustedes.
4 Behold, I have allotted to you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea toward the going down of the sun.
Les he dado a ustedes, como patrimonio de sus tribus, a todas estas naciones que aún están en la tierra, junto con las que yo he cortado, desde el Jordán hasta el Gran Mar al oeste.
5 The LORD your God will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight. You shall possess their land, as the LORD your God spoke to you.
Él Señor su Dios los enviará por la fuerza, echándoles de delante de ustedes; y deben tomar su tierra para su herencia, como el Señor su Dios les dijo.
6 “Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the scroll of the Torah of Moses, that you not turn away from it to the right hand or to the left;
Así que sean muy fuertes para guardar y hacer lo que está registrado en el libro de la ley de Moisés, sin apartarse de ella ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda;
7 that you not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them;
No tengan nada que ver con estas naciones que todavía viven entre ustedes; No permitan que sus dioses sean nombrados por ustedes no sean usados en tus juramentos; No sean sus siervos ni los adoren.
8 but hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have done to this day.
Pero sean fiel al Señor su Dios como lo han sido hasta este día.
9 “For the LORD has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day.
Porque el SEÑOR ha enviado de delante de ustedes naciones grandes y fuertes; y hasta ahora nadie a podido resistir ante ustedes.
10 One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is the LORD your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you.
Uno de ustedes puede hacer volar a mil; porque el SEÑOR su Dios está luchando por ustedes, como él les ha dicho.
11 Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love the LORD your God.
Así que vigilen, y cuiden que tengan amor por el Señor su Dios.
12 “But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you;
Porque si se apartan de Dios, y se unen con el resto de estas naciones que todavía están entre ustedes, casándose con ellos y viviendo con ellos y ellos con ustedes:
13 know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.
Entonces pueden estar seguros de que el Señor su Dios no continuará expulsando a estas naciones de delante de ustedes; pero se convertirán en un peligro y una causa de pecado para ustedes, un látigo para sus costados y espinos en sus ojos, hasta que seas separado de esta buena tierra que el Señor su Dios les ha dado.
14 “Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it.
Ahora estoy a punto de recorrer el camino de toda la tierra: y ustedes han visto y están seguros, todos ustedes, en sus corazones y almas, que en todas las cosas buenas que el Señor dijo acerca de ustedes, él ha guardado su promesa con ustedes, Todo se ha hecho realidad para ustedes.
15 It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which the LORD your God spoke to you, so the LORD will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you,
Y verás que, como todas las cosas buenas que el Señor su Dios se comprometió a hacer por ustedes, se han cumplido, así el Señor les enviará todas las cosas malas hasta que haya completado su destrucción, y estén separados de la buena tierra que el Señor su Dios les ha dado.
16 when you disobey the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then the LORD’s anger will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.”
Si el pacto del Señor su Dios, que les fue dado por sus órdenes, se rompe, y se convierten en siervos de otros dioses y les dan adoración, entonces la ira del Señor arderá contra ustedes, y serán rápidamente separados de la buena tierra que él les ha dado.
