Jonah 3
1 The LORD’s word came to Jonah the second time, saying,
Ang pulong ni Yahweh gipadayag kang Jonas sa ikaduha nga higayon, nga nag-ingon,
2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I give you.”
“Tindog, adto sa Ninebe, kadtong bantogan nga siyudad, ug imantala ang mensahe nga akong gisugo kanimo nga ihatag.”
3 So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the LORD’s word. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey across.
Busa mitindog si Jonas ug miadto sa Ninebe sa pagtuman sa pulong ni Yahweh. Karon ang Ninebe usa ka dako kaayo nga siyudad, tulo ka adlaw nga panaw.
4 Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried out, and said, “In forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!”
Nagsugod si Jonas sa pagsulod sa siyudad ug human sa usa ka adlaw nga panaw, misinggit siya ug miingon, “Sulod sa 40 ka adlaw ang Ninebe pagalaglagon.”
5 The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least.
Ang mga tawo sa Ninebe mituo sa Dios ug nagsugo sila nga magpuasa. Misul-ob silang tanan ug sako, gikan sa pinakainila kanila hangtod sa pinakaubos kanila.
6 The news reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, took off his royal robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
Sa wala madugay miabot ang balita sa hari sa Ninebe. Mibarog siya sa iyang trono, gihubo ang iyang bisti ug misul-ob ug sako, ug nilingkod sa abo.
7 He made a proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, “Let neither man nor animal, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;
Nagpadala siya ug sugo nga nag-ingon, “Sa Ninebe, pinaagi sa katungod sa hari ug sa iyang mga halangdon, sa dili pagtugot sa tawo ni hayop, mga panon sa baka ni panon sa karnero, sa pagtilaw sa bisan unsa. Ayaw sila pakaona ni paimna ug tubig.
8 but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.
Apan tugoti ang tawo ug hayop nga magsul-ob ug sako ug tugoti nga mosangpit sila ug kusog sa Dios. Tugoti ang matag-usa nga mobiya sa ilang daotan nga binuhatan ug gikan sa kabangis sa ilang mga kamot.
9 Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?”
Basin diay? Mahupay ang Dios ug mausab ang iyang hunahuna ug motalikod gikan sa iyang mapintas nga kasuko aron dili kita mangamatay.”
10 God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it.
Nakita sa Dios ang ilang gibuhat, nga mibiya sila sa ilang daotang mga binuhatan. Busa giusab sa Dios ang iyang hunahuna mahitungod sa silot nga iyang giingon nga buhaton kanila, ug wala niya kini buhata.
