Deuteronomy 9
1 Hear, Israel! You are to pass over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,
౧“ఇశ్రాయేలూ విను. మీకంటే ఎక్కువ బలం ఉన్న ప్రజలు, ఆకాశాన్నంటే ప్రాకారాలు ఉన్న గొప్ప పట్టణాలను స్వాధీనం చేసుకోడానికి ఈ రోజు మీరు యొర్దాను నది దాటబోతున్నారు.
2 a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard say, “Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”
౨ఆ ప్రజలు గొప్పవారు, పొడవైన దేహాలు గలవారు, మీకు తెలిసిన అనాకీయుల వంశస్థులు. ‘అనాకీయులను ఎవరూ ఎదిరించలేరు’ అనే మాట మీరు విన్నారు కదా.
3 Know therefore today that the LORD your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire. He will destroy them and he will bring them down before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as the LORD has spoken to you.
౩కాబట్టి మీ యెహోవా దేవుడు తానే దహించే అగ్నిలాగా మీకు ముందుగా దాటిపోతున్నాడని మీరు తెలుసుకోవాలి. ఆయన వారిని నాశనం చేసి మీ ఎదుట వారిని కూలదోస్తాడు. యెహోవా మీతో చెప్పినట్టు మీరు వారిని వెళ్ల గొట్టి త్వరగా వారిని నాశనం చేస్తారు
4 Don’t say in your heart, after the LORD your God has thrust them out from before you, “For my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land;” because the LORD drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.
౪మీ యెహోవా దేవుడు మీ ఎదుట నుండి వారిని తోలివేసిన తరవాత ‘మేము ఈ దేశాన్ని స్వాధీనం చేసుకునేలా యెహోవా మా నీతిని బట్టి మమ్మల్ని దీనిలో ప్రవేశపెట్టాడు’ అని అనుకోవద్దు. ఈ ప్రజల దుష్టత్వాన్ని బట్టి యెహోవా మీ ఎదుట నుండి వారిని వెళ్లగొడుతున్నాడు.
5 Not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
౫మీరు వారి దేశానికి వచ్చి దాన్ని స్వాధీనం చేసుకోడానికి కారణం మీ నీతి గానీ మీ హృదయంలో ఉన్న యథార్థత గానీ కాదు. ఈ ప్రజల చెడుతనం వల్లనే యెహోవా మీ పూర్వీకులైన అబ్రాహాము ఇస్సాకు యాకోబులకు చేసిన వాగ్దానాన్ని నెరవేర్చడానికి ఆయన వారిని మీ ఎదుట నుండి వెళ్లగొడుతున్నాడు.
6 Know therefore that the LORD your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess for your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.
౬మీ యెహోవా దేవుడు మీకు ఈ మంచి దేశాన్ని స్వాధీనం చేయడం మీ నీతిని బట్టి కాదని మీరు తెలుసుకోవాలి. ఎందుకంటే మీరు మూర్ఖులైన ప్రజలు.
7 Remember, and don’t forget, how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.
౭ఎడారిలో మీరు మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు కోపం పుట్టించిన సంగతి జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకోండి. దాన్ని మరచిపోవద్దు. మీరు ఐగుప్తు దేశంలో బయలుదేరిన రోజు నుండి ఈ ప్రాంతంలో మీరు ప్రవేశించేంత వరకూ మీరు యెహోవా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నారు.
8 Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was angry with you to destroy you.
౮హోరేబులో మీరు యెహోవాకు కోపం పుట్టించినప్పుడు యెహోవా మిమ్మల్ని నాశనం చేయాలన్నంత కోపం తెచ్చుకున్నాడు.
9 When I had gone up onto the mountain to receive the stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.
౯ఆ రాతి పలకలు, అంటే యెహోవా మీతో చేసిన నిబంధన సంబంధమైన పలకలు తీసుకోడానికి నేను కొండ ఎక్కినప్పుడు, అన్నపానాలు మాని అక్కడ నలభై పగళ్లు, నలభై రాత్రులు ఉన్నాను.
10 The LORD delivered to me the two stone tablets written with God’s finger. On them were all the words which the LORD spoke with you on the mountain out of the middle of the fire in the day of the assembly.
౧౦అప్పుడు యెహోవా తన వేలితో రాసిన రెండు రాతి పలకలు నాకిచ్చాడు. మీరు సమావేశమైన రోజు ఆ కొండ మీద అగ్నిలో నుండి యెహోవా మీతో పలికిన మాటలన్నీ వాటి మీద ఉన్నాయి.
11 It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights that the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, even the tablets of the covenant.
౧౧ఆ నలభై పగళ్లు, నలభై రాత్రుల తరువాత యెహోవా నిబంధన సంబంధమైన ఆ రెండు రాతి పలకలు నాకు అప్పగించి,
12 The LORD said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned away from the way which I commanded them. They have made a molten image for themselves!”
౧౨‘నువ్వు ఇక్కడ నుండి త్వరగా దిగి వెళ్ళు. నువ్వు ఐగుప్తు నుండి రప్పించిన నీ ప్రజలు చెడిపోయి, నేను వారికి ఆజ్ఞాపించిన మార్గం నుండి త్వరగా తప్పిపోయి తమ కోసం పోత విగ్రహం చేసుకున్నారు’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు.
13 Furthermore the LORD spoke to me, saying, “I have seen these people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.
౧౩యెహోవా ఇంకా ‘నేను ఈ ప్రజలను చూశాను, ఇదిగో వారు మూర్ఖులైన ప్రజలు.
14 Leave me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under the sky; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.”
౧౪నాకు అడ్డం రావద్దు. నేను వారిని నాశనం చేసి వారి పేరు ఆకాశం కింద లేకుండా తుడిచివేసి, నిన్ను వారికంటే బలమైన, విస్తారమైన జనంగా చేస్తాను’ అని నాతో చెప్పాడు.
15 So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire. The two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.
౧౫నేను కొండ దిగి వచ్చాను. కొండ అగ్నితో మండుతూ ఉంది. ఆ రెండు నిబంధన పలకలు నా రెండు చేతుల్లో ఉన్నాయి.
16 I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the LORD your God. You had made yourselves a molded calf. You had quickly turned away from the way which the LORD had commanded you.
౧౬నేను చూసినప్పుడు మీరు మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు వ్యతిరేకంగా పాపం చేస్తున్నారు. దూడ పోత విగ్రహం చేయించుకుని యెహోవా మీకు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన మార్గం నుండి అప్పటికే తప్పిపోయారు.
17 I took hold of the two tablets, and threw them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
౧౭అప్పుడు నేను ఆ రెండు పలకలను, నా రెండు చేతులతో మీ కళ్ళ ఎదుట కింద పడవేసి పగలగొట్టాను.
18 I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you sinned, in doing that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, to provoke him to anger.
౧౮మీరు యెహోవా దృష్టికి దుర్మార్గం జరిగించి చేసిన మీ పాపాలను బట్టి ఆయనకు కోపం పుట్టించడం వలన, అన్నపానాలు మానివేసి మళ్ళీ నలభై పగళ్లు, నలభై రాత్రులు నేను యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో సాగిలపడి ఉన్నాను.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the LORD was angry against you to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me that time also.
౧౯ఎందుకంటే మిమ్మల్ని నాశనం చేయాలన్నంత కోపగించిన యెహోవా మహోగ్రతను చూసి భయపడ్డాను. ఆ సమయంలో కూడా యెహోవా నా మనవి ఆలకించాడు.
20 The LORD was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him. I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
౨౦అంతేగాక యెహోవా అహరోనుపై కోపపడి, అతణ్ణి నాశనం చేయడానికి చూసినప్పుడు నేను అప్పుడే అహరోను కోసం కూడా బతిమాలుకున్నాను.
21 I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust. I threw its dust into the brook that descended out of the mountain.
౨౧అప్పుడు మీరు చేసిన పాపాన్ని, అంటే ఆ దూడను నేను అగ్నితో కాల్చి, నలగ్గొట్టి, మెత్తగా పొడి చేసి, ఆ కొండ నుండి ప్రవహిస్తున్న ఏటిలో ఆ ధూళిని పారపోశాను.
22 At Taberah, at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked the LORD to wrath.
౨౨అంతేగాక మీరు తబేరాలో, మస్సాలో, కిబ్రోతు హత్తావాలో యెహోవాకు కోపం పుట్టించారు.
23 When the LORD sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you,” you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you didn’t believe him or listen to his voice.
౨౩యెహోవా ‘కాదేషు బర్నేయలో మీరు వెళ్లి నేను మీకిచ్చిన దేశాన్ని స్వాధీనం చేసుకోండి’ అని మీతో చెప్పినప్పుడు మీరు మీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను నమ్మక ఆయన మాటకు ఎదురు తిరిగారు.
24 You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
౨౪నేను మిమ్మల్ని ఎరిగిన రోజు నుండీ మీరు యెహోవా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నారు.
25 So I fell down before the LORD the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
౨౫కాబట్టి నేను మునుపు సాగిలపడినట్టు యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో నలభై పగళ్లు, నలభై రాత్రులు సాగిలపడ్డాను. ఎందుకంటే యెహోవా మిమ్మల్ని నాశనం చేస్తానని అన్నాడు.
26 I prayed to the LORD, and said, “Lord GOD, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
౨౬నేను యెహోవాను ప్రార్థిస్తూ ఈ విధంగా చెప్పాను ప్రభూ, యెహోవా, నువ్వు నీ మహిమ వలన విమోచించి, నీ బాహుబలంతో ఐగుప్తులో నుండి రప్పించిన నీ స్వాస్థ్యమైన ప్రజలను నాశనం చేయవద్దు.
27 Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Don’t look at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin,
౨౭నీ సేవకులైన అబ్రాహాము, ఇస్సాకు, యాకోబులను జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకో. ఈ ప్రజల కాఠిన్యాన్ని, వారి చెడుతనాన్ని, వారి పాపాన్ని చూడవద్దు.
28 lest the land you brought us out from say, ‘Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.’
౨౮ఎందుకంటే నువ్వు ఏ దేశంలో నుండి మమ్మల్ని రప్పించావో ఆ దేశస్థులు, యెహోవా తాను వారికి వాగ్దానం చేసిన దేశంలోకి వారిని చేర్చలేక, వారిపైని ద్వేషం వలన అరణ్యంలో చంపడానికి వారిని రప్పించాడని చెప్పుకుంటారేమో.
29 Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”
౨౯నువ్వు నీ మహాబలం చేత, చాపిన నీ బాహువు చేత రప్పించిన నీ స్వాస్థ్యమూ నీ ప్రజలూ వీరే.”
