< 2 Chronicles 10 >
1 Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
Rehoboamu sì lọ sí Ṣekemu nítorí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti lọ síbẹ̀ láti fi jẹ ọba.
2 When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
Nígbà tí Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati gbọ́ ẹni ti ó wà ní Ejibiti, níbi tí ó ti sá kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ọba Solomoni ó sì padà láti Ejibiti.
3 They sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came, and they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni nígbà náà ó sì ránṣẹ́ sí Jeroboamu àti òun àti gbogbo àwọn Israẹli lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Rehoboamu wọ́n sì wí fún pé,
4 “Your father made our yoke grievous. Now therefore make the grievous service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”
“Baba rẹ gbé àjàgà tí ó wúwo lórí wa, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí ìwọ mú un fúyẹ́, iṣẹ́ líle àti àjàgà wúwo tí ó gbé ka orí wa, àwa yóò sì sìn ọ́.”
5 He said to them, “Come again to me after three days.” So the people departed.
Rehoboamu sì dáhùn pé, “Ẹ padà wá sọ́dọ̀ mi lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ mẹ́ta.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ènìyàn náà sì lọ.
6 King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me about how to answer these people?”
Nígbà náà ni ọba Rehoboamu fi ọ̀ràn lọ̀ àwọn àgbàgbà tí ó ti ń sin baba rẹ̀ Solomoni nígbà ayé rẹ̀, ó sì bi wọ́n léèrè pe, “Báwo ni ẹ̀yin yóò ṣe gbà mí ní ìmọ̀ràn láti dá àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí lóhùn?”
7 They spoke to him, saying, “If you are kind to these people, please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”
Wọ́n sì dáhùn, “Tí ìwọ yóò bá ṣe rere sí àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí kí o sì ṣe ìre fún wọn, kí o sì fún wọn ní ìdáhùn rere, wọn yóò sì máa jẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ nígbà gbogbo.”
8 But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
Ṣùgbọ́n Rehoboamu kọ ìmọ̀ràn náà tí àwọn àgbàgbà fi fún un, ó sì fi ọ̀rọ̀ lọ àwọn ọmọ ọkùnrin tí ó ti dàgbàsókè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ tí wọ́n sì ń dúró níwájú rẹ̀.
9 He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may give an answer to these people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”
Ó sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn pé, “Kí ni ìmọ̀ràn yín? Báwo ni kí a ṣe dá àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí tí wọ́n wí fún mi pé, ‘Mú kí àjàgà tí baba rẹ gbé lé wa kí ó fúyẹ́ díẹ̀.’”
10 The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us;’ thus you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.
Àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọdé tí ó ti dàgbà pẹ̀lú rẹ dá a lóhùn pé, “Sọ fún àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wí fún ọ wí pé, ‘Baba rẹ gbé àjàgà wúwo lórí wa, ṣùgbọ́n mú àjàgà wa fúyẹ́,’ wí fún wọn pé, ‘Ìka ọwọ́ mi kékeré, ó nípọn ju ìbàdí baba mi lọ.
11 Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”
Baba mi gbé àjàgà wúwo ka orí yín; èmi yóò sì tún mú kí ó wúwo sì í. Baba mi fi pàṣán nà yín; èmi yóò sì nà yín pẹ̀lú àkéekèe.’”
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”
Ní ọjọ́ kẹta Jeroboamu àti gbogbo ènìyàn sì padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ Rehoboamu, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba ti sọ, “Ẹ padà wá sọ́dọ̀ mi ní ọjọ́ kẹta.”
13 The king answered them roughly; and King Rehoboam abandoned the counsel of the old men,
Nígbà náà ni ọba dá wọn lóhùn ní ọ̀nà líle. Rehoboamu ọba sì kọ̀ ìmọ̀ràn àwọn àgbàgbà sílẹ̀,
14 and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”
Ó sì tẹ̀lé ìmọ̀ràn àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọdé, ó sì wí pé, “Baba mi mú kí àjàgà yín wúwo; èmi yóò sì mú kí ó wúwo jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ. Baba mi nà yín pẹ̀lú pàṣán; èmi yóò sì nà yín pẹ̀lú àkéekèe.”
15 So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was brought about by God, that the LORD might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọba kò sì fetísí àwọn ènìyàn, nítorí ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀ wọ̀nyí wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run ni. Láti mú ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ṣẹ tí a ti sọ fún Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati nípasẹ̀ Ahijah ará Ṣilo.
16 When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion do we have in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse! Every man to your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So all Israel departed to their tents.
Nígbà tí gbogbo Israẹli rí i wí pé ọba kọ̀ láti gbọ́ tiwọn, wọ́n sì dá ọba lóhùn wí pé, “Ìpín kí ní a ní nínú Dafidi, ìní wo ni a ní nínú ọmọ Jese? Ẹ lọ sí àgọ́ yín, ẹ̀yin Israẹli! Bojútó ilé rẹ, ìwọ Dafidi!” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli lọ sí ilé wọn.
17 But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
Ṣùgbọ́n ní ti àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí ń gbé ní ìlú Juda, Rehoboamu ń jẹ ọba lórí wọn.
18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and the children of Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
Ọba Rehoboamu rán Adoniramu jáde, ẹni tí ó wà ní ìkáwọ́ iṣẹ́ onírúurú, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sọ ọ́ ní òkúta pa. Ọba Rehoboamu, gbìyànjú láti dé inú kẹ̀kẹ́ rẹ̀ ó sì sálọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
19 So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Israẹli sì wà ní ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ lórí ilé Dafidi títí fi di òní yìí.
