< Psalms 82 >
1 A Psalm by Asaph. God presides in the great assembly. He judges amongst the gods.
Psalmus Asaph. Deus stetit in synagoga deorum: in medio autem deos diiudicat.
2 “How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” (Selah)
Usquequo iudicatis iniquitatem: et facies peccatorum sumitis?
3 “Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Iudicate egeno, et pupillo: humilem, et pauperem iustificate.
4 Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”
Eripite pauperem: et egenum de manu peccatoris liberate.
5 They don’t know, neither do they understand. They walk back and forth in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
Nescierunt, neque intellexerunt, in tenebris ambulant: movebuntur omnia fundamenta terræ.
6 I said, “You are gods, all of you are sons of the Most High.
Ego dixi: Dii estis, et filii excelsi omnes.
7 Nevertheless you shall die like men, and fall like one of the rulers.”
Vos autem sicut homines moriemini: et sicut unus de principibus cadetis.
8 Arise, God, judge the earth, for you inherit all of the nations.
Surge Deus, iudica terram: quoniam tu hereditabis in omnibus Gentibus.
