< Psalms 21 >
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. The king rejoices in your strength, LORD! How greatly he rejoices in your salvation!
For the end, a Psalm of David. O Lord, the king shall rejoice in your strength; and in your salvation he shall greatly exult.
2 You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. (Selah)
You have granted him the desire of his soul, and have not withheld from him the request of his lips. (Pause)
3 For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
For you have prevented him with blessings of goodness: you has set upon his head a crown of precious stone.
4 He asked life of you and you gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever.
He asked life of you, and you gave him length of days for ever and ever.
5 His glory is great in your salvation. You lay honour and majesty on him.
His glory is great in your salvation: you will crown him with glory and majesty.
6 For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence.
For you will give him a blessing for ever and ever: you will gladden him with joy with your countenance.
7 For the king trusts in the LORD. Through the loving kindness of the Most High, he shall not be moved.
For the king trusts in the Lord, and through the mercy of the Highest he shall not be moved.
8 Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
Let your hand be found by all your enemies: let your right hand find all that hate you.
9 You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath. The fire shall devour them.
You shall make them as a fiery oven at the time of your presence: the Lord shall trouble them in his anger, and fire shall devour them.
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from amongst the children of men.
You shall destroy their fruit from the earth, and their seed from [amongst] the sons of men.
11 For they intended evil against you. They plotted evil against you which cannot succeed.
For they intended evils against you; they imagined a device which they shall by no means be able to perform.
12 For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face.
For you shall make them [turn their] back in your latter end, you will prepare their face.
13 Be exalted, LORD, in your strength, so we will sing and praise your power.
Be you exalted, O Lord, in your strength: we will sing and praise your mighty acts.
