Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
Die Sprüche Salomos, des Davidssohnes und Herrschers über Israel,
2 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
sind dazu da, daß man Charakter und Weisheit würdige und kluge Worte wohl verstehe
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
und Zucht und Anstand lerne, was recht und rechtlich, ehrlich sei,
4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—
daß Bildung Unerfahrene empfangen und daß die Jugend Lebenskunst erlerne.
5 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;
Vernimmt ein Weiser sie, so kann er seine Rede fesselnder gestalten; ein kluger Mann kann sich die richtige Belehrung sichern.
6 to understand a proverb and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
Er kann das Gleichnis und den Sinnspruch faßlicher gestalten, wie auch der Weisen Worte, ihre dunklen Reden. -
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Die Furcht des Herrn ist Anfang der Erkenntnis, Weisheit, Bildung. Nur Toren sind's, die sie verachten.
8 My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;
Der väterlichen Zucht, mein Sohn, gehorche! Der Mutter Mahnung achte nicht gering!
9 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
Sie zieren wie ein Kranz dein Haupt und deinen Hals wie Kettenschmuck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.
Mein Sohn, wenn dich Verbrecher locken, folg ihnen nicht!
11 If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
Wenn sie dir sagen: "Halt's mit uns! Wir haben einen Anschlag gegen einen Menschen vor; wir wollen ungefährdet im Versteck Arglosen auflauern.
12 Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. (Sheol h7585)
Wir wollen selbst am Leben bleiben und sie verschlingen gleich der Unterwelt, mit Haut und Haar als solche, die zur Grube fahren. (Sheol h7585)
13 We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.
Und wir gewinnen alles mögliche kostbare Gut und füllen unsere Häuser mit dem Raub.
14 You shall cast your lot amongst us. We’ll all have one purse”—
Du darfst auch mit uns teilen; wir alle haben einen Beutel."
15 my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
Mein Sohn, geh nicht auf einem Weg mit ihnen! Halt deinen Fuß von ihren Pfaden fern!
16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
Denn ihre Füße laufen dem Verderben zu und eilen blutigem Tod entgegen.
17 For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;
Vergeblich wird man Netze spannen vor den Blicken der beschwingten Vögel;
18 but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
sie aber lauern auf ihr eigen Blut und stellen sich selbst nach dem Leben.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
So ist das Schicksal eines jeden, der auf unrechten Gewinn ausgeht. Er bringt ihn um sein Leben.
20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
Auf Straßen ruft die Weisheit; auf Plätzen ruft sie laut.
21 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
Hoch oben auf den Mauern predigt sie, an Stadttoren; vor aller Welt nimmt sie das Wort:
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
"Wie lange liebt ihr Toren noch Betörung, gefällt den Dünkelhaften Spott und hassen Toren Einsicht?
23 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
Ihr kommt auf meine Mahnrede zurück. Fürwahr, ich sag euch unumwunden, was ich auf dem Herzen habe. Ich tue meine Warnungen euch kund.
24 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
Ich rief; ihr aber wolltet nicht; ich winkte euch, und niemand gab drauf acht.
25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
Ihr schluget meinen Ratschlag in den Wind und mochtet meine Rüge nicht.
26 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,
So lache ich bei eurem Unglück nur und spotte, wenn euch Angst befällt,
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.
wenn wie ein Ungewitter euer Schrecken kommt, einherfährt gleich dem Sturmwind euer Unglück und Not und Drangsal euch befällt.
28 Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,
Dann rufen sie mich an; ich gebe keine Antwort. Sie suchen, aber finden mich nicht mehr.
29 because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.
Erkenntnis haben sie gehaßt und nach der Furcht des Herren nicht gefragt,
30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
sie wollten nichts von meinem Rate wissen, und meine Rüge haben sie verschmäht.
31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
So mögen sie denn ihres Handels Frucht genießen, sich sättigen mit dem, was sie sich selbst bereitet!
32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
Ihr Fehlgehn bringt sie, diese Dummen, um; Sorglosigkeit vernichtet diese Toren.
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Wer aber mir gehorcht, der kann in Ruhe wohnen und unbesorgt vor Unheilsschrecken sein."
