< Proverbs 1 >
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
Hiche hi Israel leng David chapa Solomon thuchih ho ahi.
2 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
Hiche hi mihemten chihna le kigah chahna, thuchih kiseiho hi ipi kiseina ham, ti ahetdoh theina diu ahi.
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
Chule ahoi-apha adihlam'a kihilna kisan them'a adih le thudih agom'a kisanlut ding,
4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—
Chuteng milham ho dinga lunglim-geh'a hinna, chule khangdong hon hetna le thil detkhen themna anei diu ahi.
5 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;
Miching jeng jong khodah'a thepna alambe ding, hetkhenna nei mihem in jong kihilchahna alambe ding ahi.
6 to understand a proverb and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
Hiche thuchih kiseiho le thil umdan hetthemna anei ding, miching hon thu asei teng, thulem aseidoh jouseu hettheina tha anei ding ahi.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Yahweh Pakai ginna hi hetna dinga abulpi ahin, mingol hon vang chihna le hilchah nan asang thei poi.
8 My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;
Kachapa, napan nahilna ngaijin lang, nanun nahilna jong sang teijin,
9 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
Ijeh inem itileh, amanin nahilna jouse khotona lallukhuh'a nakikhuh ding, chule jana na ngong changa khivui oa naki'o ding ahi.
10 My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.
Kachapa michonseten jol lhah ding nago jong leu, athu'u nangai lou hel ding ahi.
11 If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
Amahon na henga ahin seidiu, “Hung'in cheu hitin mihem thadin ngah-ute; suhkhel neilou ho jong chu inop chabep uva ibol diuvin nga lhih tau hite.
12 Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. (Sheol )
Ahing changa lhankhuh in aval lhum'a abah gam bang in, eihon jong ahing in bahgam-u hitin, thina kokhuh'a lhalutsa bang in, apum chang in val lhum gam tau hite. (Sheol )
13 We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.
Chuteng thil thupi tahtah imu diu, mi thil lelo ichomdoh hou chu in dimset'a isit diu ahi.
14 You shall cast your lot amongst us. We’ll all have one purse”—
Keiho kom'a chan hung neijin lang, sumdip kikhong in sum khol khom u-hite, tia ahinsei diu ahi.”
15 my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
Hinlah kachapa, amaho toh kilhon khom hih hel'in, amaho lam lhahna akon chun kidalse jon,
16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
Ajeh chu amaho thilpha lou bolnan akeng-u ajangkhai in, gangtah in thisan aso jiuve.
17 For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;
Hijeh chun vachan ao nading thang kikam amu teng, pannabei asoh jitai.
18 but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
Hitobang miho hin ama hole amaho thisan sodohna dinga midang achan lhih jiu ahin, amaho thina ding jenga bou mi achan jiu ahi.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
Koi hileh hitobang pumtho changa ama phatchomna ding ngaito bang bep ahiuvin, thil lelo neipa ahivang in thina atoh jitan ahi.
20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
Chihna hin lamlen lah'a kho asamjin, japi lah jenga jong ogin kithong tah'in apeng jin ahi.
21 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
Chihna hi lamlen dunga jong apeng jah jeng in, khopi kelkot mai'a jong thu aphong doh jin ahi.
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
“Vo mihemte, itih chanpi mihem mei meija hin ding nagot u-ham, anop nop'a paohon itih chanpi michunga nanop pao diu ham? Angol hon itih chanpi hetna nathet diu hitam?
23 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
Kathumop nahi ngai phau vin, ajeh chu keiman nangho dinga kalunggel ngaito kasei ding, chuteng kathuseija kon chihna nalam doh diu ahi.
24 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
Ijeh inem itileh keiman nang ho kakou un, nang hon nei donbut deh pouve. Kakhut ban in kahin sang uvin, iman jong nagel deh pouvin ahi.
25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
Kahilna abonchan nadonse pouvin, kagihsal na jouse jong khatcha nadonse pouvin ahi.
26 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,
Hijeh chun hahsatna dinmun nalhun teng uleh kanuisat diu, manthah nan nalhun den tengu jong leh kanuisat ding nahiuve.
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.
Huipi hattah banga manthahnan nahin lhun khum diu, chimpei banga hahsatna nahin to diu, chule gim le hesoh hoise tah in nalhun dendiu hijongleh ka khohsah louhel ding nahi tauve.
28 Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,
Hinlah amahon panpi ngaija eihin kou-diu, keiman kadonbut dehlou diu, gil tah'a eihol jing diu, ahin eihol doh jou deh lou diu ahi.
29 because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.
Ajeh chu amahon hetna athet uvin, Yahweh Pakai gin ding jong alheng deh pouvin ahi.
30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
Amahon kahilna asang pouvin, kagih salna jouse jong pannabei aso tauvin ahi.
31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
Chule amahon anop chabep uva atoh-gau aneh diu, thilpha lou angaito jouseu thao twi banga jol lha diu ahi.
32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
Ajeh chu amahon lamdih jot louvin, milham ho chunga thina alhung lo jitan, lungthim beiho kiletsahna chu amaho manthahna asoh jin ahi.
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
Koi hileh kasei phatah'a ngaija chun lungmonna anei ding, gin ding neiloua lungmong sel'a cheng jing ding ahi.”
