< Proverbs 20 >
1 Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Mpaniratsira ny divay, ary mpitabataba ny toaka, Koa izay miraikiraiky azon’ izany dia tsy hendry.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
Ny fampitahoran’ ny mpanjaka dia toy ny fieron’ ny liona tanora; Izay mampahatezitra azy dia mankahà-doza hihatra amin’ ny ainy,
3 It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarrelling.
Voninahitry ny olona ny hanalavitra ny ady; Fa ny adala rehetra kosa misafoaka.
4 The sluggard will not plough by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
Ny malaina tsy mety miasa amin’ ny ririnina, Ka dia hangataka izy raha fararano, fa tsy hahazo.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.
Rano lalina ny hevitra ao am-pon’ ny olona; Fa izay manan-tsaina dia mahay manovo azy ihany,
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?
Maro ny olona samy midera ny soa ataon’ ny tenany avy; Fa izay olo-mahatoky, iza moa no mahita azy?
7 A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
Izay olona marina mandeha amin’ ny fahitsiany Sambatra ny zanany mandimby azy.
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgement scatters away all evil with his eyes.
Mipetraka eo amin’ ny seza fitsarana ny mpanjaka, Ka mikororoka manaisotra ny ratsy rehetra ny masony.
9 Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin”?
Iza no mahazo manao hoe: Efa nahadio ny foko aho Ka madio tsy manana ota?
10 Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
Ny vato mizana samy hafa sy ny vata famarana samy hafa Dia samy fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah.
11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
Na dia ny zaza aza dia mampiseho amin’ ny fanaony Na madio sy mahitsy ny fitondran-tenany.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.
Ny sofina mandre sy ny maso mahita Dia samy nataon’ i Jehovah avokoa.
13 Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
Aza tia torimaso ianao, fandrao tonga malahelo; Ahirato ny masonao, dia ho voky hanina ianao.
14 “It’s no good, it’s no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
Ratsy! ratsy! hoy ny mpividy; Kanjo nony lasa izy, dia mandoka tena.
15 There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
Ao ihany ny volamena sy ny voahangy betsaka; Fa ny molotra misy fahalalana no ravaka soa.
16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
Alao ny lambany, fa efa niantoka olon-kafa izy, Ary tano ho solon’ ny vahiny niantohany.
17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
Mamin’ ny olona ny hanina azo amin’ ny fitaka; Kanjo ho feno fasika ny vavany any am-parany.
18 Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war!
Ny hevitra rehetra dia aorin’ ny fisainana, Ary ny fahaizana mandamina tsara no entonao miady.
19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
Izay mandehandeha manaratsy dia manambara ny hevitra afenina, Koa aza miraharaha amin’ izay mibedibedy foana.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
Izay manozona ny rainy na ny reniny, Dia ho faty ao amin’ ny alim-pito ny jirony.
21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won’t be blessed in the end.
Ny harena malaky azo foana eo am-boalohany Dia tsy hotahina any am-parany.
22 Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.
Aza manao hoe: Hamaly ny ratsy nataony aho; Fa andraso Jehovah, fa Izy no hamonjy anao.
23 The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
Fahavetavetana eo imason’ i Jehovah ny vato samy hafa, Ary ny mizana mandainga dia tsy tsara.
24 A man’s steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?
Avy amin’ i Jehovah ny dian’ ny olona, Ary hataon’ izay olombelona ahoana no hahafantatra ny lalany?
25 It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
Fandrika amin’ ny olona ny malaky manao hoe: Zavatra masìna ity; Ka nony vita ny voady, vao mamototra.
26 A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
Ny mpanjaka hendry mikororoka manaisotra ny ratsy fanahy Sady mitarika ny kodia fivelezana eo amboniny.
27 The spirit of man is the LORD’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.
Jiron’ i Jehovah ny fanahin’ ny olona, Itsilovana ny efitrefitra rehetra ao am-po.
28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
Famindram-po sy fahamarinana no miaro ny mpanjaka, Ary ampitoeriny amin’ ny famindram-po ny seza fiandrianany.
29 The glory of young men is their strength. The splendour of old men is their grey hair.
Voninahitry ny zatovo ny fahatanjahany, Ary ravaky ny anti-panahy ny volo fotsy.
30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
Ny fampangirifiriana dia mahafaka ny faharatsiana, Ary ny kapoka mahadio ny efitrefitra ao an-kibo.
