< Proverbs 1 >
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
Engero za Sulemaani, mutabani wa Dawudi, kabaka wa Isirayiri.
2 to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
Yaziwandiika okuyigiriza abantu okuba n’amagezi n’okuyiga, era n’okutegeera ebigambo eby’obulabufu; eby’obulamu eby’amagezi n’empisa.
3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
Sulemaani yayagala abantu okuba n’empisa, n’obulamu obw’amagezi, okukolanga ebituufu, n’okubeera abenkanya n’okugobereranga ensonga;
4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—
okuyigiriza amagezi abatalina bumanyirivu, n’abavubuka okufuna okumanya n’okutegeera.
5 that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;
N’abantu ab’amagezi nabo bwe bawulira beeyongere okuyiga n’abategeevu beeyongere okubangulwa.
6 to understand a proverb and parables, the words and riddles of the wise.
Era engero zino zaawandiikibwa okutegeera engero, enjogera n’ebikokyo.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Kale mu kutya Mukama amagezi mwe gasookera, naye abasirusiru banyooma amagezi n’okulagirirwa.
8 My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;
Mwana wange ossangayo omwoyo eri ebiragiro bya kitaawo, era tolekanga kukuutira kwa maama wo;
9 for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
bijja kuba ngule eneeweesanga omutwe gwo ekitiibwa, n’emikuufu mu bulago bwo.
10 My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.
Mwana wange abakozi b’ebibi bwe bakusendasendanga, tokkirizanga.
11 If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
Bwe bakugambanga nti, “Tugende ffenna twesanyuse, tunyage, tubbe n’okutta; tokkirizanga;
12 Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. (Sheol )
ng’entaana bw’emira abantu, naffe tubamire tutyo nga bakyali balamu, era nga balamba, ng’abagenda mu bunnya obuwanvu; (Sheol )
13 We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.
nga twefunira eby’obugagga bye tutakoleredde, ne tujjuza amayumba gaffe obugagga obubbe;
14 You shall cast your lot amongst us. We’ll all have one purse”—
ng’ababi batuyita tubeegatteko, tugabane kyenkanyi ebibbe n’ebinyage.”
15 my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
Mwana wange totambuliranga wamu nabo, era ekigere kyo kiziyize okukwatanga ekkubo lyabwe:
16 for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
Kubanga ebigere byabwe bidduka bunnambiro okukola ebibi, era kibanguyira okuyiwa omusaayi.
17 For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;
Nga kuba kumala biseera okutega omutego, ng’ekinyonyi ky’oyagala okukwata kikulaba,
18 but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.
naye abantu ng’abo baba beetega bokka, baba beetega omutego ogunaabakwasa bo bennyini.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
Bwe lityo bwe libeera ekkubo lya buli muntu anoonya okugaggawalira mu bukyamu. Obugagga obw’engeri eyo busaanyaawo obulamu bw’abo ababufuna.
20 Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
Amagezi galeekaanira waggulu mu nguudo; gayimusa amaloboozi gaago, mu bifo ebigazi eby’omu bibuga.
21 She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
Ne galeekaanira waggulu, mu kifo enguudo ennene we zisisinkanira, era gasinzira mu miryango gy’ekibuga ne googera:
22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
Mulituusa ddi mmwe ab’amagezi amatono obutayagala kweyongera kuyiga by’amagezi, nammwe ab’amalala okunyoomanga eby’amagezi n’abasirusiru okukyawanga okumanya?
23 Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
Kale singa muwuliriza okunenya kwange, laba, ndifuka omutima gwange n’ebirowoozo byange mu mmwe.
24 Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
Kubanga na bayita ne mugaana okuwuliriza, ne ngolola omukono ne wataba n’omu afaayo,
25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
era ne mutafaayo ku magezi ge nabawa, era ne mugaana okubuulirira kwange kwonna,
26 I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,
kale nange ndibasekerera nga muli mu nnaku, era mbakudaalire ng’entiisa ebagwiridde.
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.
Entiisa bw’eribajjira ng’omuyaga omungi, ennaku n’okubonaabona, okulumwa n’obubalagaze,
28 Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,
kale balinkoowoola, naye siriyitaba; balinnoonya obutaweera naye ne batandaba.
29 because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.
Kubanga baakyawa okuyigirizibwa, n’okumanya, era ne bamalirira obutatya Mukama.
30 They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
Ne bagaana okuwuliriza amagezi gange; ne banyooma okunenya kwange kwonna.
31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
Kyebaliva balya ebibala eby’ekkubo lyabwe ebbi, era ne bajjula ebibala eby’enkwe zaabwe.
32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
Obusirusiru bulitta ab’amagezi amatono n’obutafaayo bulizikiriza abasirusiru,
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
naye buli ampuliriza anaabeeranga mirembe, ng’agumye nga talina kutya kwonna.
