< Jeremiah 22 >
1 The LORD said, “Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak this word there:
Sɛɛ na Awurade se, “Sian kɔ Yudahene ahemfi na kɔpae mu ka saa asɛm yi:
2 ‘Hear the LORD’s word, king of Judah, who sits on David’s throne—you, your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.
‘Tie Awurade asɛm, Yudahene, wo a wote Dawid ahengua so, wo, wʼakannifo ne wo nkurɔfo a wɔfa apon yi mu.
3 The LORD says: “Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong. Do no violence to the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow. Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.
Sɛɛ na Awurade se: Monyɛ nea ɛteɛ na ɛnam kwan mu. Munnye nea wɔabɔ no korɔn mfi ne hyɛsofo nsam. Monnyɛ ɔhɔho, ayisaa ne okunafo bɔne na monnyɛ wɔn basabasa nso, na munnhwie mogya a edi bem ngu wɔ ha.
4 For if you do this thing indeed, then kings sitting on David’s throne will enter in by the gates of this house, riding in chariots and on horses—they, their servants, and their people.
Sɛ moyɛ ahwɛyie na mudi saa ahyɛde yi so a, ɛno de ahemfo a wɔte Dawid ahengua so ne wɔn adwumayɛfo ne wɔn nkurɔfo bɛfa saa ahemfi apon yi mu, a wɔtete nteaseɛnam mu ne apɔnkɔ so.
5 But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself,” says the LORD, “that this house will become a desolation.”’”
Enti sɛ moanni saa nhyehyɛe yi so a, Awurade na ose, “Meka me ho ntam sɛ, saa ahemfi yi bɛdan ofituw.”’”
6 For the LORD says concerning the house of the king of Judah: “You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
Nea Awurade ka fa Yudahene ahemfi ho ni: “Ɛwɔ mu wote sɛ Gilead ma me, te sɛ Lebanon mmepɔw atifi, nokware, mɛyɛ wo sɛ nweatam, sɛ nkurow a obiara nte mu.
7 I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons, and they will cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
Mɛsoma asɛefo abɛtoa mo, obiara ne nʼakode, wobetwitwa mo sida mpuran fɛfɛ no mu na wɔatow agu ogya no mu.
8 “Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbour, ‘Why has the LORD done this to this great city?’
“Nnipa a wofifi aman bebree so betwa mu wɔ kuropɔn yi so, na wobebisabisa wɔn ho wɔn ho se, ‘Adɛn nti na Awurade ayɛ saa kuropɔn kɛse yi sɛɛ?’
9 Then they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD their God, worshipped other gods, and served them.’”
Na mmuae no bɛyɛ sɛ, ‘Efisɛ wɔagyaw Awurade, wɔn Nyankopɔn apam no akɔsɔre anyame afoforo asom wɔn.’”
10 Don’t weep for the dead. Don’t bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away, for he will return no more, and not see his native country.
Munnsu ɔhene a wafi mu, na munni ne ho awerɛhow; mmom, munsu dennen mma nea ɔkɔ nnommum mu, efisɛ ɔrensan nʼakyi na ɔrenhu asase a wɔwoo no wɔ so no bio.
11 For the LORD says touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went out of this place: “He won’t return there any more.
Na sɛɛ na Awurade ka faa Yosia babarima Salum a odii nʼagya ade sɛ Yudahene na wafi ha no ho: “Ɔrensan mma bio.
12 But he will die in the place where they have led him captive. He will see this land no more.”
Obewu wɔ faako a wɔafa no nnommum kɔ hɔ; na ɔrenhu saa asase yi bio.”
13 “Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbour’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire;
“Nnome nka nea ɔmfa ɔkwan trenee so nsi nʼahemfi, ɔde asisi si nʼabansoro, ɔma ne manfo yɛ adwuma kwa, ontua wɔn apaade so ka.
14 who says, ‘I will build myself a wide house and spacious rooms,’ and cuts out windows for himself, with a cedar ceiling, and painted with red.
Ɔka se, ‘Mesi ahemfi kɛse ama me ho nea ɛwɔ abansoro adan a mu soso.’ Enti ɔyɛ mfɛnsere akɛse wɔ mu, ɔde sida dura mu na ɔde ahosu kɔkɔɔ hyehyɛ mu.
15 “Should you reign because you strive to excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.
“Wowɔ sida bebree a na ɛma woyɛ ɔhene ana? Na wʼagya nni aduan ne nsa ana? Ɔyɛɛ nea ɛfa ne kwan mu na ɛteɛ, enti esii no yiye.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; so then it was well. Wasn’t this to know me?” says the LORD.
Odii mmɔborɔfo ne ahiafo nsɛm maa wɔn, enti biribiara yɛɛ yiye maa no. Na ɛnyɛ eyi na ɛkyerɛ sɛ obi nim me ana?” Awurade na ose.
17 But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for doing violence.”
“Mo ani ne mo koma wɔ mfaso bɔne nko ara so, sɛ muhwie mogya a edi bem gu na moyɛ nhyɛso ne asisi nso.”
18 Therefore the LORD says concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: “They won’t lament for him, saying, ‘Ah my brother!’ or, ‘Ah sister!’ They won’t lament for him, saying ‘Ah lord!’ or, ‘Ah his glory!’
Ɛno nti, sɛɛ na Awurade ka fa Yudahene Yosia babarima Yehoiakim ho: “Wɔrensu no: ‘A, me nuabarima! A, me nuabea!’ Wɔrensu no: ‘A, me wura! A, nʼahoɔfɛ!’
19 He will be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast out beyond the gates of Jerusalem.”
Wobesie no sɛ afurum, wɔbɛtwe nʼase na wɔatow no akyene Yerusalem apon akyi.”
20 “Go up to Lebanon, and cry out. Lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers have been destroyed.
“Monkɔ Lebanon nkosu, momma wɔnte mo nne wɔ Basan, munsu mfi Abarim, efisɛ wɔadwerɛw mo dɔm nyinaa.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not listen.’ This has been your way from your youth, that you didn’t obey my voice.
Mebɔɔ wo kɔkɔ, bere a na ɛyɛ wo sɛ wʼasom adwo wo no, nanso wokae se, ‘Merentie!’ Eyi ne ɔkwan a wonam so fi wo mmerantebere mu; woanyɛ osetie amma me.
22 The wind will feed all your shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity. Surely then you will be ashamed and confounded for all your wickedness.
Mframa bɛbɔ wo nguanhwɛfo nyinaa akɔ, na wʼapamfo nyinaa bɛkɔ nnommum mu. Afei wʼani bewu na wʼanim agu ase esiane wʼamumɔyɛ nyinaa nti.
23 Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied you will be when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Mo a mote Lebanon, na modeda sida adan mu, sɛnea mubesi apini wɔ ɔyaw mu, ɔyaw ɛte sɛ ɔbea a ɔreko awo de.
24 “As I live,” says the LORD, “though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on my right hand, I would still pluck you from there.
“Nokware, sɛ mete ase yi,” Awurade na ose, “Mpo sɛ wo Yehoiakin, Yudahene Yehoiakim babarima yɛ me nsa nifa so nsɔwano kaa a, anka mɛworɔw wo.
25 I would give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Kasdim.
Mede wo bɛma wɔn a wɔrehwehwɛ wo kra, wɔn a wusuro wɔn no; Babiloniahene Nebukadnessar ne Babiloniafo.
26 I will cast you out with your mother who bore you into another country, where you were not born; and there you will die.
Mɛpam wo ne ɛna a ɔwoo wo no akogu ɔman foforo so, baabi a ɛnyɛ hɔ na wɔwoo mo mu biara, hɔ na mo baanu bewuwu.
27 But to the land to which their soul longs to return, there they will not return.”
Morensan mma asase a mo kɔn dɔ sɛ mobɛsan aba so no so bio.”
28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which no one delights? Why are they cast out, he and his offspring, and cast into a land which they don’t know?
Saa ɔbarima Yehoiakin yi yɛ asɛnka a abɔ ade a obiara mpɛ ana? Adɛn nti na wɔbɛpam ɔne ne mma, akogu asase a wonnim so no so?
29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the LORD’s word!
Ao, asase, asase, asase! Tie Awurade asɛm!
30 The LORD says, “Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his days; for no more will a man of his offspring prosper, sitting on David’s throne and ruling in Judah.”
