2 Kings 20
1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”
En ce temps-là, Ezéchias fut malade à la mort. Le prophète Isaïe, fils d'Amos, vint auprès du lui et lui dit: « Ainsi dit Yahweh: Donne tes ordres à ta maison, car tu vas mourir, et tu ne vivras plus. »
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,
Ezéchias tourna son visage contre le mur, et pria Yahweh en ces termes:
3 “Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
« Souvenez-vous, ô Yahweh, que j'ai marché devant votre face avec fidélité et intégrité de cœur, et que j'ai fait ce qui est bien à vos yeux. » Et Ezéchias versa des larmes abondantes.
4 Before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, the LORD’s word came to him, saying,
Isaïe, n'était pas sorti jusqu'à la cour du milieu, lorsque la parole de Yahweh lui fut adressée en ces termes:
5 “Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘The LORD, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the LORD’s house.
Retourne, et dis à Ezéchias, chef de mon peuple: « Ainsi dit Yahweh, le Dieu de David, ton père: J'ai entendu ta prière et j'ai vu tes larmes; voici que je te guéris; dans trois jours, tu monteras à la maison de Yahweh;
6 I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”’”
j'ajouterai à tes jours quinze années. Je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie; je protégerai cette ville à cause de moi et à cause de David mon serviteur. »
7 Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
Isaïe dit: « Prenez une masse de figues. » On la prit, on l'appliqua sur l'ulcère, et Ezéchias guérit.
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I will go up to the LORD’s house the third day?”
Ezéchias avait dit à Isaïe: « A quel signe connaîtrai-je que Yahweh me guérira et que je monterai dans trois jours à la maison de Yahweh. »
9 Isaiah said, “This will be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: should the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”
Isaïe dit: « Voici pour toi le signe donné par Yahweh, auquel tu connaîtras que Yahweh accomplira la parole qu'il a dite: l'ombre avancera-t-elle de dix degrés, ou reculera-t-elle de dix degrés? »
10 Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. No, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”
Ezéchias répondit: « C'est peu de chose que l'ombre avance de dix degrés; mais qu'elle recule en arrière de dix degrés! »
11 Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
Alors Isaïe, le prophète invoqua Yahweh, qui fit reculer l'ombre en arrière de dix degrés sur les degrés d'Achaz, sur les degrés où elle était descendue.
12 At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
En ce même temps, Mérodach-Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya une lettre et des présents à Ezéchias, parce qu'il avait appris qu'Ezéchias était malade.
13 Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the storehouse of his precious things—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, or in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.
Ezéchias se réjouit de la venue des envoyés, et il leur montra toute la maison de son trésor, l'argent et l'or, les aromates et l'huile de prix, tout son arsenal et tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses trésors; il n'y eut rien qu'Ezéchias ne leur fit voir dans sa maison et dans tous ses domaines.
14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”
Mais Isaïe, le prophète, vint auprès du roi Ezéchias, et lui dit: « Qu'ont dit ces gens-là, et d'où sont-ils venus vers toi? » Ezéchias répondit: « Ils sont venus d'un pays éloigné, de Babylone. »
15 He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing amongst my treasures that I have not shown them.”
Et Isaïe dit: « Qu'ont-ils vu dans ta maison? » Et Ezéchias répondit: « Ils ont vu tout ce qui est dans ma maison; il n'y a rien dans mes trésors que je ne leur aie fait voir. »
16 Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the LORD’s word.
Et Isaïe dit à Ezéchias: « Ecoute la parole de Yahweh:
17 ‘Behold, the days come that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.
Voici que des jours viendront où l'on emportera à Babylone tout ce qui est dans ta maison et ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu'à ce jour; il n'en restera rien, dit Yahweh.
18 ‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
Et l'on prendra de tes fils, qui seront sortis de toi, que tu auras engendrés, pour en faire des eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone. »
19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The LORD’s word which you have spoken is good.” He said moreover, “Isn’t it so, if peace and truth will be in my days?”
Ezéchias répondit à Isaïe: « La parole de Yahweh que tu as prononcée est bonne. » Et il ajouta: « Oui, car la paix et la stabilité seront avec moi pendant ma vie. »
20 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Le reste des actes d'Ezéchias, tous ses exploits, et comment il fit l'étang et l'aqueduc et amena les eaux dans la ville, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
21 Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
Ezéchias se coucha avec ses pères, et Manassé, son fils, régna à sa place.
