2 Chronicles 24
1 Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah, of Beersheba.
Sieben [2. Kön. 12] Jahre war Joas alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte vierzig Jahre zu Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Zibja, von Beerseba.
2 Joash did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
Und Joas tat, was recht war in den Augen Jehovas, alle die Tage des Priesters Jojada.
3 Jehoiada took for him two wives, and he became the father of sons and daughters.
Und Jojada nahm ihm zwei Weiber; und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
4 After this, Joash intended to restore the LORD’s house.
Und es geschah hernach, daß Joas im Herzen hatte, das Haus Jehovas zu erneuern.
5 He gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, “Go out to the cities of Judah, and gather money to repair the house of your God from all Israel from year to year. See that you expedite this matter.” However the Levites didn’t do it right away.
Und er versammelte die Priester und die Leviten und sprach zu ihnen: Ziehet aus in die Städte Judas, und sammelt Geld ein von ganz Israel, um das Haus eures Gottes auszubessern von Jahr zu Jahr; und ihr sollt mit der Sache eilen. Aber die Leviten eilten nicht.
6 The king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, “Why haven’t you required of the Levites to bring in the tax of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the assembly of Israel, out of Judah and out of Jerusalem, for the Tent of the Testimony?”
Da rief der König Jojada, das Haupt, und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du die Leviten nicht aufgefordert, aus Juda und Jerusalem die Steuer einzubringen, welche Mose, der Knecht Jehovas, der Versammlung Israels für das Zelt des Zeugnisses auferlegt hat? [W. einzubringen die Steuer Moses, des Knechtes Jehovas, und der Versammlung Israels für das Zelt usw.]
7 For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up God’s house; and they also gave all the dedicated things of the LORD’s house to the Baals.
Denn die gottlose Athalja und ihre Söhne haben das Haus Gottes zerstört und haben auch alle geheiligten Dinge des Hauses Jehovas für die Baalim verwendet.
8 So the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it outside at the gate of the LORD’s house.
Und der König befahl, und man machte eine Lade und stellte sie an das Tor des Hauses Jehovas, auswärts.
9 They made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in for the LORD the tax that Moses the servant of God laid on Israel in the wilderness.
Und man rief in Juda und in Jerusalem aus, daß man Jehova die Steuer Moses, des Knechtes Gottes, bringen sollte, welche er Israel in der Wüste auferlegt hatte.
10 All the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had filled it.
Da freuten sich alle Obersten und das ganze Volk; und sie brachten und warfen in die Lade, bis man fertig war.
11 Whenever the chest was brought to the king’s officers by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king’s scribe and the chief priest’s officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
Und es geschah zur Zeit, wenn man die Lade durch die Leviten zum Amte [d. h. zu der Aufsichtsbehörde. O. zu den Beamten; und nachher: wenn sie sahen] des Königs brachte, und wenn man sah, daß viel Geld darin war, so kamen der Schreiber des Königs und der Beamte des Hauptpriesters und leerten die Lade aus; und sie trugen sie und brachten sie wieder an ihren Ort. So taten sie Tag für Tag und sammelten Geld in Menge.
12 The king and Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the service of the LORD’s house. They hired masons and carpenters to restore the LORD’s house, and also those who worked iron and bronze to repair the LORD’s house.
Und der König und Jojada gaben es denen, welche das Werk der Arbeit am Hause Jehovas betrieben; und diese dingten Steinhauer und Zimmerleute, um das Haus Jehovas zu erneuern, und auch Arbeiter in Eisen und Erz, um das Haus Jehovas auszubessern.
13 So the workmen worked, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands. They set up God’s house as it was designed, and strengthened it.
Und die das Werk taten, arbeiteten, und die Herstellung des Werkes nahm zu durch ihre Hand; und sie setzten das Haus Gottes wieder in seinen früheren Stand [Eig. richteten das Haus Gottes auf nach seinem Maße] und machten es fest.
14 When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, from which were made vessels for the LORD’s house, even vessels with which to minister and to offer, including spoons and vessels of gold and silver. They offered burnt offerings in the LORD’s house continually all the days of Jehoiada.
Und als sie fertig waren, brachten sie das übrige Geld vor den König und vor Jojada; und er machte davon Geräte für das Haus Jehovas, Geräte für den Dienst und für die Brandopfer, und Schalen, und goldene und silberne Geräte. Und man opferte Brandopfer im Hause Jehovas beständig, alle die Tage Jojadas.
15 But Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died. He was one hundred and thirty years old when he died.
Und Jojada wurde alt und der Tage satt, und er starb; er war 130 Jahre alt, als er starb.
16 They buried him in David’s city amongst the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and towards God and his house.
Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids bei den Königen, weil er Gutes getan hatte an Israel und gegen Gott und sein Haus.
17 Now after the death of Jehoiada, the princes of Judah came and bowed down to the king. Then the king listened to them.
Und nach dem Tode Jojadas kamen die Obersten von Juda und beugten sich vor dem König nieder; und der König hörte auf sie.
18 They abandoned the house of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherah poles and the idols, so wrath came on Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltiness.
Und sie verließen das Haus Jehovas, des Gottes ihrer Väter, und dienten den Ascherim und den Götzenbildern. Da kam ein Zorn über Juda und Jerusalem um dieser ihrer Verschuldung willen.
19 Yet he sent prophets to them to bring them again to the LORD, and they testified against them; but they would not listen.
Und er sandte Propheten unter sie, um sie zu Jehova zurückzuführen, und diese zeugten wider sie; [O. ermahnten, verwarnten sie] aber sie nahmen es nicht zu Ohren. -
20 The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them, “God says, ‘Why do you disobey the LORD’s commandments, so that you can’t prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you.’”
Und der Geist Gottes kam über [Eig. bekleidete] Sekarja, den Sohn Jojadas, des Priesters; und er stand auf über dem Volke und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht Gott: Warum übertretet ihr die Gebote Jehovas? Es wird euch ja nicht gelingen. Weil ihr Jehova verlassen habt, so hat er euch verlassen.
21 They conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the LORD’s house.
Und sie machten eine Verschwörung wider ihn und steinigten ihn auf Befehl des Königs im Hofe des Hauses Jehovas.
22 Thus Joash the king didn’t remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. When he died, he said, “May the LORD look at it, and repay it.”
Und der König Joas gedachte nicht der Güte, die sein Vater Jojada an ihm erwiesen hatte, und ermordete dessen Sohn. Und als er starb, sprach er: Jehova möge es sehen und fordern!
23 At the end of the year, the army of the Syrians came up against him. They came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from amongst the people, and sent all their plunder to the king of Damascus.
Und es geschah beim Umlauf des Jahres, daß ein Heer der Syrer wider ihn heraufzog. Und sie kamen nach Juda und Jerusalem und schlachteten aus dem Volke alle Obersten des Volkes; und alle ihre Beute sandten sie zu dem König von Damaskus.
24 For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men; and the LORD delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers. So they executed judgement on Joash.
Wiewohl das Heer der Syrer mit wenigen Männern gekommen war, gab doch Jehova ein sehr zahlreiches Heer in ihre Hand, weil sie Jehova, den Gott ihrer Väter, verlassen hatten. Und sie übten Gericht an Joas.
25 When they had departed from him (for they left him seriously wounded), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed, and he died. They buried him in David’s city, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings.
Und als sie von ihm weggezogen waren, sie verließen ihn aber in großen Schmerzen, machten seine Knechte eine Verschwörung wider ihn, um des Blutes der Söhne [And. l.: des Sohnes] des Priesters Jojada willen; und sie ermordeten ihn auf seinem Bette, und er starb. Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, aber man begrub ihn nicht in den Gräbern der Könige.
26 These are those who conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess.
Und diese sind es, die eine Verschwörung wider ihn machten: Sabad, der Sohn Schimeaths, der Ammonitin, und Josabad, der Sohn Schimriths, der Moabitin. -
27 Now concerning his sons, the greatness of the burdens laid on him, and the rebuilding of God’s house, behold, they are written in the commentary of the book of the kings. Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
Seine Söhne aber, und die Größe des Tributs, der ihm auferlegt wurde, und der Bau des Hauses Gottes, siehe, das ist geschrieben in der Beschreibung [Eig. ausführlichen Beschreibung] des Buches der Könige. Und Amazja, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
