Psalms 99

1 Yahweh reigns! Let the peoples tremble. He sits enthroned among the cherubim. Let the earth be moved.

Jahwe herrscht nun als König: da zittern die Völker, / Er thront auf Keruben: da wanket die Welt.

2 Yahweh is great in Zion. He is high above all the peoples.

Jahwe ist groß in Zion, / Erhaben ist er über alle Völker.

3 Let them praise your great and awesome name. He is Holy!

Preisen soll man deinen Namen: / "Groß und ehrfurchtgebietend, / Ja, heilig ist er!"

4 The King’s strength also loves justice. You establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

Ein König ist stark, wenn er liebt das Recht: / Du hast nun bestimmt, was sich gebührt; / Du hast in Jakob verordnet / Recht und Gerechtigkeit.

5 Exalt Yahweh our God. Worship at his footstool. He is Holy!

Preiset Jahwe, unsern Gott, / Fallt nieder vor seinem Fußschemel: / "Heilig ist er!"

6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on Yahweh, and he answered them.

Mose und Aaron zählten zu seinen Priestern, / Und Samuel war unter seinen Betern: / Sie riefen zu Jahwe — er hörte sie.

7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud. They kept his testimonies, the statute that he gave them.

In der Wolkensäule sprach er zu ihnen; / Seine Gebote bewahrten sie / Und jedes Gesetz, das er ihnen gegeben.

8 You answered them, Yahweh our God. You are a God who forgave them, although you took vengeance for their doings.

Jahwe, unser Gott, du hast sie erhört. / Ein verzeihender Gott bist du ihnen gewesen, / Doch ihr Vergehen hast du gestraft.

9 Exalt Yahweh, our God. Worship at his holy hill, for Yahweh, our God, is holy!

Preiset Jahwe, unsern Gott! / Fallt nieder vor seinem heiligen Berg, / Denn heilig ist Jahwe, unser Gott!
