Jeremiah 35
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par l'Éternel, dans le temps de Jéhojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, en ces mots:
2 “Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and bring them into Yahweh’s house, into one of the rooms, and give them wine to drink.”
Rends-toi auprès de la maison des Réchabites, et parle-leur, et amène-les dans la maison de l'Éternel, dans l'une des chambres, et offre-leur du vin à boire.
3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, with his brothers, all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
Et je pris Jaasénia, fils de Jérémie, fils de Habazinia, et ses frères et tous ses fils, et toute la maison des Réchabites,
4 and I brought them into Yahweh’s house, into the room of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the princes, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.
et je les amenai à la maison de l'Éternel, dans la chambre des fils de Hanan, fils de Gédalia, homme de Dieu, laquelle est à côté de la chambre des princes, au-dessus de la chambre de Mahaséïa, fils de Sallum, garde du seuil.
5 I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”
Et je plaçai devant les fils de la maison des Réchabites des coupes pleines de vin, et des calices, et je leur dis: « Buvez du vin! »
6 But they said, “We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall drink no wine, neither you nor your children, forever.
Mais ils dirent: Nous ne buvons pas de vin; car Jonadab, fils de Réchab, notre père, nous a donné ce commandement: Vous ne boirez point de vin, ni vous, ni vos fils, à perpétuité;
7 You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’
et vous ne bâtirez point de maisons, et ne sèmerez aucune semence, et ne planterez ni ne posséderez des vignes; mais vous habiterez sous des tentes toute votre vie, afin que vous viviez longtemps dans le pays où vous séjournez.
8 We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, or our daughters;
Et nous sommes dociles à la voix de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, notre père, en tout ce qu'il nous a prescrit, de sorte que nous ne buvons pas de vin durant toute notre vie, ni nous, ni nos femmes, ni nos fils, ni nos filles,
9 and not to build houses for ourselves to dwell in. We have no vineyard, field, or seed;
et que nous ne bâtissons pas de maisons pour nous loger, et que nous ne possédons ni vignes, ni champs, ni terre ensemencée,
10 but we have lived in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
et nous habitons sous des tentes, et nous écoutons et nous pratiquons tout ce que nous a prescrit Jonadab, notre père.
11 But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Come! Let’s go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians; so we will dwell at Jerusalem.’”
Et, quand Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, s'avança dans le pays, nous dîmes: Venez, et fuyons à Jérusalem devant l'armée des Chaldéens et devant l'armée de Syrie; c'est ainsi que nous habitons dans Jérusalem.
12 Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,
Alors la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie en ces mots:
13 “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says Yahweh.
Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Va et dis aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem: De là ne tirerez-vous pas cette leçon, qu'il vous faut obéir à mes paroles? dît l'Éternel.
14 “The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they drink none, for they obey their father’s commandment; but I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.
On accomplit les préceptes de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, lesquels il a donnés comme règle à ses fils, de ne point boire de vin, et ils n'en ont pas bu jusques aujourd'hui, car ils sont dociles à l'ordre de leur père; et moi je vous ai parlé dès le matin, et vous ne m'obéissez pas!
15 I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.
Et je vous ai envoyé tous mes serviteurs, les prophètes, dès le matin, pour vous dire: Renoncez donc chacun à votre mauvaise voie, et amendez votre conduite, et n'allez plus après d'autres dieux pour les servir; alors vous resterez dans le pays que j'ai donné à vous et à vos pères; mais vous n'avez point prêté l'oreille, et ne m'avez point obéi.
16 The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.”’
Oui, les fils de Jonadab, fils de Réchab, observent la règle que leur donna leur père, et ce peuple ne m'obéit pas!
17 “Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’”
C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Voici, j'amène sur Juda et sur tous les habitants de Jérusalem tous les maux dont je les ai menacés, parce que je leur ai parlé, et qu'ils n'ont point écouté; et que je les ai appelés, et qu'ils n'ont point répondu.
18 Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’
Et Jérémie dit à la maison des Réchabites: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Parce que vous êtes dociles au commandement de Jonadab votre père, et que vous observez tous ses commandements et que vous faites selon tout ce qu'il vous a commandé,
19 therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jonadab the son of Rechab will not lack a man to stand before me forever.’”
à cause de cela, ainsi prononce l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Il ne manquera point à Jonadab, fils de Réchab, d'un homme qui se tienne en ma présence, dans tous les âges.
