Jeremiah 34
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:
Palabra que fue a Jeremías de Jehová, (cuando Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y todo su ejército, y todos los reinos de la tierra del señorío de su mano, y todos los pueblos, peleaban contra Jerusalem, y contra todas sus ciudades, ) diciendo.
2 “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.
Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Vé, y habla, a Sedecías, rey de Judá, y díle: Así dijo Jehová: He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en mano del rey de Babilonia, y encenderla ha a fuego.
3 You won’t escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.”’
Y tú no escaparás de su mano, mas de cierto serás preso, y en su mano serás entregado, y tus ojos verán los ojos del rey de Babilonia, y su boca hablará a tu boca, y en Babilonia entrarás.
4 “Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah. Yahweh says concerning you, ‘You won’t die by the sword.
Con todo eso oye palabra de Jehová, Sedecías, rey de Judá: Así dijo Jehová de ti: No morirás a cuchillo:
5 You will die in peace; and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will make a burning for you. They will lament you, saying, “Ah Lord!” for I have spoken the word,’ says Yahweh.”
En paz morirás, y conforme las quemas de tus padres, los reyes primeros, que fueron antes de ti, así quemarán por ti, y ¡Ay Señor! te endecharán; porque yo hablé palabra, dijo Jehová.
6 Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,
Y habló Jeremías profeta a Sedecías, rey de Judá, todas estas palabras en Jerusalem.
7 when the king of Babylon’s army was fighting against Jerusalem and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alone remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities.
Y el ejército del rey de Babilonia peleaba contra Jerusalem, y contra todas las ciudades de Judá que habían quedado, contra Laquis, y contra Azeca; porque de las ciudades fuertes de Judá estas habían quedado.
8 The word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them,
Palabra que fue a Jeremías de Jehová, después que Sedecías hizo concierto con todo el pueblo en Jerusalem, para denunciarles libertad:
9 that every man should let his male servant, and every man his female servant, who is a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, that no one should make bondservants of them, of a Jew his brother.
Que cada uno dejase su siervo, y cada uno su sierva, Hebreo y Hebrea, libres, que ninguno usase de los Judíos sus hermanos como de siervos.
10 All the princes and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant and everyone his female servant go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more. They obeyed and let them go,
Y oyeron todos los príncipes, y todo el pueblo, que habían venido en el concierto, para dejar cada uno su siervo, y cada uno su sierva libres, que ninguno usase más de ellos como de siervos: oyeron, y dejáronlos.
11 but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go free to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.
Mas después se arrepintieron, y tornaron los siervos y las siervas que habían dejado libres, y sujetáronlos por siervos y por siervas.
12 Therefore Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
Y fue palabra de Jehová a Jeremías de por Jehová, diciendo:
13 “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:
Así dice Jehová Dios de Israel: Yo hice concierto con vuestros padres el día que los saqué de tierra de Egipto, de casa de siervos, diciendo:
14 At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.
Al cabo de siete años dejaréis cada uno su hermano Hebreo, que te fuere vendido; y servirte ha seis años, y enviarle has de ti libre; y vuestros padres no me oyeron, ni abajaron su oreja.
15 You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;
Y os habíais convertido hoy, y habíais hecho lo recto delante de mis ojos, pregonando cada uno libertad a su prójimo, y habíais hecho concierto en mi presencia, en la casa sobre la cual es llamado mi nombre.
16 but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’”
Y os tornasteis, y contaminasteis mi nombre, y tornasteis a tomar cada uno su siervo, y cada uno su sierva, que habíais dejado libres a su voluntad; y los sujetasteis para que os sean siervos, y siervas.
17 Therefore Yahweh says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová: Vosotros no me oísteis a mí, para que pregonaseis libertad cada uno a su hermano, y cada uno a su compañero: he aquí que yo os pregono libertad, dijo Jehová, a espada, y a pestilencia, y a hambre; y poneros he por espanto a todos los reinos de la tierra.
18 I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts:
Y entregaré a los hombres que traspasaron mi concierto, que no hicieron firmes las palabras del concierto que celebraron en mi presencia, con el becerro que partieron en dos partes, y pasaron por medio de sus partes;
19 the princes of Judah, the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf.
A los príncipes de Judá, y a los príncipes de Jerusalem, a los de palacio, y a los sacerdotes, y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, que pasaron entre las partes del becerro:
20 I will even give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.
Entregarlos he en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan su alma; y sus cuerpos muertos serán para comida de las aves del cielo, y de las bestias de la tierra.
21 “I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their life and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army, who has gone away from you.
Y a Sedecías, rey de Judá, y a sus príncipes, entregaré en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan su alma, y en mano del ejército del rey de Babilonia, que se fueron de vosotros.
22 Behold, I will command,” says Yahweh, “and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it, take it, and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”
He aquí que yo mando, dijo Jehová, y hacerlos he volver a esta ciudad, y pelearán contra ella, y tomarla han, y encenderla han a fuego; y daré las ciudades de Judá en soledad, hasta no quedar morador.
