Jeremiah 3
1 “They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says Yahweh.
Dicen: Si alguno dejare su mujer, y yéndose de él se juntare a otro varón, ¿volverá a ella más? ¿No es ella tierra inmunda de inmundicia? Tú pues has fornicado con muchos amigos: mas vuélvete a mí, dijo Jehová.
2 “Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat waiting for them by the road, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
Alza tus ojos a los altos, y ve en que lugar no te hayas publicado: para ellos te sentabas en los caminos, como Árabe en el desierto; y con tus fornicaciones, y con tu malicia has contaminado la tierra.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.
Por esta causa las aguas han sido detenidas, y la lluvia de la tarde faltó; y has tenido frente de mala mujer, ni quisiste tener vergüenza.
4 Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth!’?
A lo menos, ¿desde ahora no clamarás a mí: Padre mío, guiador de mi juventud?
5 “‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”
¿Guardará su enojo para siempre? ¿guardarle ha eternalmente? He aquí que hablaste, e hiciste maldades, y pudiste.
6 Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.
Y díjome Jehová en días del rey Josías: ¿Has visto lo que ha hecho la rebelde Israel? Váse ella sobre todo monte alto, y debajo de todo árbol sombrío, y allí fornica.
7 I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
Y dije después que hizo todo esto: Vuélvete a mí; y no se volvió. Y vio la rebelde su hermana Judá,
8 I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear, but she also went and played the prostitute.
Que yo lo había visto, que por todas estas causas en las cuales fornicó la rebelde Israel yo la envié, y le di la carta de su repudio; y no hubo temor la rebelde Judá su hermana: mas fue también ella, y fornicó.
9 Because she took her prostitution lightly, the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with wood.
Y aconteció que por la facilidad de su fornicación la tierra fue contaminada, y adulteró con la piedra, y con el leño.
10 Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense,” says Yahweh.
Y con todo esto nunca se tornó a mí la rebelde su hermana Judá de todo su corazón, mas mentirosamente, dijo Jehová.
11 Yahweh said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
Y díjome Jehová: Justificado ha su alma la rebelde Israel, en comparación de la desleal Judá.
12 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh; ‘I will not look in anger on you, for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will not keep anger forever.
Vé, y clama estas palabras hacia el aquilón, y dí: Vuélvete, o! rebelde Israel, dijo Jehová: no haré caer mi ira sobre vosotros; porque misericordioso soy, dijo Jehová; ni guardaré el enojo para siempre.
13 Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’” says Yahweh.
Conoce empero tu maldad, porque contra Jehová tu Dios te has rebelado; y tus caminos has derramado a los extraños debajo de todo árbol sombrío, y no oístes mi voz, dice Jehová.
14 “Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh, “for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
Convertíos, o! hijos rebeldes, dijo Jehová, porque yo soy vuestro Señor; y yo os tomaré uno de una ciudad, y dos de una familia, y meteros he en Sión.
15 I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
Y daros he pastores según mi corazón, que os apacienten de ciencia, y de inteligencia.
16 It will come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says Yahweh, “they will no longer say, ‘the ark of Yahweh’s covenant!’ It will not come to mind. They won’t remember it. They won’t miss it, nor will another be made.
Y acontecerá que cuando os multiplicareis y creciereis en la tierra, en aquellos días, dijo Jehová, no se dirá más: Arca del concierto de Jehová; ni vendrá en el pensamiento, ni se acordarán de ella, ni visitarán, ni se hará más.
17 At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘Yahweh’s Throne;’ and all the nations will be gathered to it, to Yahweh’s name, to Jerusalem. They will no longer walk after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
En aquel tiempo llamarán a Jerusalem, trono de Jehová; y todas las naciones se congregarán a ella en el nombre de Jehová en Jerusalem; ni más irán tras la dureza de su corazón malvado.
18 In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
En aquellos tiempos irán de la casa de Judá a la casa de Israel; y vendrán también de tierra del aquilón a la tierra que hice heredar a vuestros padres.
19 “But I said, ‘How I desire to put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father”, and shall not turn away from following me.’
Yo empero dije: ¿Cómo te pondré por hijos, y te daré la tierra deseable, la heredad de codicia de los ejércitos de las naciones? Y dije: Padre mío, me llamarás; y de en pos de mí, no te apartarás.
20 “Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says Yahweh.
Mas como la mujer quiebra la fe, de su compañero, así prevaricasteis contra mí, o! casa de Israel, dijo Jehová.
21 A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God.
Voz sobre las alturas fue oída, llanto de los ruegos de los hijos de Israel; porque han torcido su camino, de Jehová su Dios se han olvidado.
22 Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are Yahweh our God.
Convertíos, hijos rebeldes; sanaré vuestras rebeliones. He aquí, nosotros venimos a ti; porque tú eres Jehová nuestro Dios.
23 Truly help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains, is in vain. Truly the salvation of Israel is in Yahweh our God.
Ciertamente vanidad son los collados, la multitud de los montes: ciertamente en Jehová nuestro Dios está la salud de Israel.
24 But the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
Confusión consumió el trabajo de nuestros padres desde nuestra mocedad; sus ovejas, sus vacas, sus hijos, y sus hijas.
25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed Yahweh our God’s voice.”
Echados estamos en nuestra confusión, y nuestra vergüenza nos cubre; porque pecamos a Jehová nuestro Dios, nosotros y nuestros padres, desde nuestra juventud y hasta este día; y no oímos la voz de Jehová nuestro Dios.
