Jeremiah 3
1 “They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says Yahweh.
Vogliam dire che, se un marito manda via la sua moglie, ed ella, partitasi d'appresso a lui, si marita ad un altro, [quel primo] ritorni più a lei? quella terra, [ove ciò si farebbe], non sarebbe ella del tutto contaminata? Ora, tu hai fornicato con molti amanti; ma pure, ritorna a me, dice il Signore.
2 “Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat waiting for them by the road, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
Alza gli occhi tuoi verso i luoghi elevati, e riguarda dove tu non sii stata viziata? Tu sedevi in su le vie alla posta di quelli, a guisa d'Arabo nel deserto; e [così] hai contaminato il paese per le tue fornicazioni, e per la tua malvagità.
3 Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.
Laonde le pioggie sono state divietate, e non vi è stata pioggia dell'ultima stagione; e tu hai avuta una fronte di meretrice, tu hai ricusato di vergognarti.
4 Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth!’?
Non griderai tu oramai a me: Padre mio, tu [sei] il conduttor della mia giovanezza?
5 “‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”
Ritiene egli [l'ira sua] in perpetuo? [la] guarda egli sempremai? Ecco, tu hai parlato, ma hai fatti tanti mali, quanti hai potuto.
6 Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.
IL Signore mi disse ancora al tempo del re Giosia: Hai tu veduto quel che la sviata Israele ha fatto? [come] ella è andata sopra ogni alto monte, e sotto ogni albero verdeggiante, e quivi ha fornicato?
7 I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
E pure, dopo ch'ebbe fatte tutte queste cose, io [le] dissi: Convertiti a me; ma ella non si convertì; e [ciò] vide la disleale Giuda, sua sorella.
8 I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear, but she also went and played the prostitute.
Ed io ho veduto che con tutto che, avendo la sviata Israele commesso adulterio, io l'avessi mandata via, e le avessi dato il libello del suo ripudio, la disleale Giuda, sua sorella, non ha però temuto; anzi è andata, ed ha fornicato anch'ella.
9 Because she took her prostitution lightly, the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with wood.
E per la lubricità delle sue fornicazioni, è avvenuto che il paese è stato contaminato; ed ella ha commesso adulterio con la pietra e col legno.
10 Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense,” says Yahweh.
E pure anche, con tutto ciò, la disleale Giuda, sorella di quell' [altra], non si è convertita a me con tutto il cuor suo; anzi con menzogna, dice il Signore.
11 Yahweh said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
E il Signore mi disse: La sviata Israele si è mostrata più giusta che la disleale Giuda.
12 Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh; ‘I will not look in anger on you, for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will not keep anger forever.
Va', e grida queste parole verso Aquilone, e di': Convertiti, o sviata Israele, dice il Signore; [ed] io non farò cadere l'ira mia addosso a voi; perciocchè io [son] benigno, dice il Signore; io non guardo [l'ira mia] in perpetuo.
13 Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’” says Yahweh.
Sol riconosci la tua iniquità; conciossiachè tu abbia commesso misfatto contro al Signore Iddio tuo, e ti sii prostituita agli stranieri sotto ogni albero verdeggiante, e non abbiate atteso alla mia voce, dice il Signore.
14 “Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh, “for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
Convertitevi, figliuoli ribelli, dice il Signore; perciocchè io vi ho sposati; ed ancora vi prenderò, uno d'una città, e due l'una famiglia, e vi condurrò in Sion.
15 I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
E vi darò de' pastori secondo il mio cuore, che vi pasceranno di scienza e d'intendimento.
16 It will come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says Yahweh, “they will no longer say, ‘the ark of Yahweh’s covenant!’ It will not come to mind. They won’t remember it. They won’t miss it, nor will another be made.
Ed avverrà che quando sarete moltiplicati, ed accresciuti nella terra; in quel tempo, dice il Signore, non si dirà più: L'Arca del patto del Signore; ed essa non verrà [più] a mente, e non ne sarà [più] memoria, e non sarà più ricercata, e non sarà più rifatta.
17 At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘Yahweh’s Throne;’ and all the nations will be gathered to it, to Yahweh’s name, to Jerusalem. They will no longer walk after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
In quel tempo Gerusalemme sarà chiamata: Il trono del Signore; e tutte le genti si accoglieranno a lei, al Nome del Signore in Gerusalemme; e non andranno più dietro alla durezza del lor cuore malvagio.
18 In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
In que' giorni, la casa di Giuda andrà alla casa d'Israele, e se ne verranno insieme dal paese d'Aquilone, nel paese che io ho dato in eredità a' vostri padri.
19 “But I said, ‘How I desire to put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father”, and shall not turn away from following me.’
Ma io ho detto: Come ti riporrò io fra i [miei] figliuoli, e ti darò il paese desiderabile, la bella eredità degli eserciti delle genti? Ed io ho detto: Tu mi chiamerai: Padre mio, e non ti rivolgerai indietro da me.
20 “Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says Yahweh.
Certo, [siccome] una moglie è disleale al suo consorte, lasciandolo; così voi, o casa d'Israele, siete stati disleali inverso me, dice il Signore.
21 A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God.
Una voce è stata udita sopra i luoghi elevati, un pianto di supplicazioni de' figliuoli d'Israele; perchè hanno pervertita la lor via, [ed] hanno dimenticato il Signore Iddio loro.
22 Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are Yahweh our God.
Convertitevi, figliuoli ribelli, [ed] io guarirò le vostre ribellioni. Ecco, noi veniamo a te, perciocchè tu [sei] il Signore Iddio nostro.
23 Truly help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains, is in vain. Truly the salvation of Israel is in Yahweh our God.
Certo, in vano [si aspetta la salute] dai colli, [dalla] moltitudine de'monti; certo, nel Signore Iddio nostro [è posta] la salute d'Israele.
24 But the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
E quella cosa vergognosa ha consumata la sostanza de' padri nostri, fin dalla nostra fanciullezza; le lor pecore, i lor buoi, i lor figliuoli, e le lor figliuole.
25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed Yahweh our God’s voice.”
Noi giacciamo nella nostra vergogna, e la nostra ignominia ci copre; perciocchè noi, ed i nostri padri, abbiam peccato contro al Signore Iddio nostro, dalla nostra fanciullezza infino a questo giorno; e non abbiamo ascoltata la voce del Signore Iddio nostro.
