Genesis 8
1 God remembered Noah, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the ship; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.
Et Dieu se souvint de Noé et de tous les animaux et de tout le bétail qui était avec lui dans l'arche, et Dieu fit passer un vent sur la terre et les eaux s'affaissèrent.
2 The deep’s fountains and the sky’s windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.
Et les sources de l'abîme et les écluses des cieux se fermèrent, et la pluie fut arrêtée dans les cieux.
3 The waters continually receded from the earth. After the end of one hundred fifty days the waters receded.
Et les eaux quittaient la terre s'en allant et se retirant et les eaux diminuèrent au bout de cent cinquante jours.
4 The ship rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat’s mountains.
Et le septième mois, le dix-septième jour du mois l'arche s'arrêta sur les monts Ararat.
5 The waters receded continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were visible.
Et les eaux s'en allèrent et décrurent jusqu'au dixième mois; le dixième mois, le premier jour du mois, les cimes des monts furent visibles.
6 At the end of forty days, Noah opened the window of the ship which he had made,
Et au bout de quarante jours Noé ouvrit la fenêtre de l'arche qu'il avait faite.
7 and he sent out a raven. It went back and forth, until the waters were dried up from the earth.
Et il mit en liberté le corbeau, lequel sortit, partant et revenant jusqu'à ce que les eaux eussent tari sur la terre.
8 He himself sent out a dove to see if the waters were abated from the surface of the ground,
Et il mit en liberté la colombe pour voir si les eaux étaient disparues de la terre.
9 but the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned into the ship to him, for the waters were on the surface of the whole earth. He put out his hand, and took her, and brought her to him into the ship.
Mais la colombe ne trouva pas une place où poser la plante de son pied, et elle revint à lui dans l'arche, parce que les eaux couvraient toute la face de la terre; et il étendit la main et la prit et la retira à lui dans l'arche.
10 He waited yet another seven days; and again he sent the dove out of the ship.
Et il attendit encore sept autres jours, et de nouveau il laissa la colombe s'envoler de l'arche.
11 The dove came back to him at evening and, behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters were abated from the earth.
Alors la colombe revint à lui au temps du soir; et voilà qu'une feuille fraîche d'olivier était dans son bec! et Noé comprit que les eaux étaient disparues de la terre.
12 He waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; and she didn’t return to him any more.
Puis il attendit encore sept autres jours, et il donna la liberté à la colombe; mais elle ne revint plus à lui.
13 In the six hundred first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from the earth. Noah removed the covering of the ship, and looked. He saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
Et l'année six cent et un, le premier mois, le premier jour du mois les eaux avaient laissé la terre à sec, et Noé enleva la couverture de l'arche, et il regarda, et voici, la face du sol se desséchait.
14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
Et le second mois, le dix-septième jour du mois, la terre était sèche.
15 God spoke to Noah, saying,
Et Dieu parla à Noé en ces termes:
16 “Go out of the ship, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.
Sors de l'arche, toi et ta femme et tes fils et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
17 Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh, including birds, livestock, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply on the earth.”
Tous les animaux de toute chair qui sont avec toi, oiseaux, bétail et tout reptile rampant sur la terre, fais-les sortir avec toi, et qu'ils pullulent sur la terre et soient féconds et se multiplient sur la terre.
18 Noah went out, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives with him.
Et Noé sortit, et ses fils et sa femme et les femmes de ses fils avec lui.
19 Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatever moves on the earth, after their families, went out of the ship.
Tous les animaux, tous les reptiles et tous les oiseaux, tout ce qui se meut sur la terre, selon leurs familles sortirent de l'arche.
20 Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Alors Noé édifia un autel à l'Éternel, et il prit de tous les animaux purs et de tous les oiseaux purs et offrit des holocaustes sur l'autel.
21 Yahweh smelled the pleasant aroma. Yahweh said in his heart, “I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake because the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth. I will never again strike every living thing, as I have done.
Et l'Éternel odora le parfum suave, et l'Éternel dit en son cœur: Désormais je ne maudirai plus la terre à cause de l'homme; car les imaginations du cœur de l'homme sont mauvaises dès sa jeunesse; et désormais je ne frapperai plus tous les vivants comme j'ai fait.
22 While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”
A l'avenir, tant que la terre sera, les semailles et la moisson, la froidure et la chaleur, l'été et l'hiver, le jour et la nuit ne chômeront point.
