< Ezra 5 >

1 Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem. They prophesied to them in the name of the God of Israel.
Nígbà náà wòlíì Hagai àti wòlíì Sekariah, láti ìran Iddo, sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ sí àwọn ará Júù ní Juda àti Jerusalẹmu ní orúkọ Ọlọ́run Israẹli tí ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ ń bẹ lára wọn.
2 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build God’s house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.
Nígbà náà Serubbabeli ọmọ Ṣealitieli àti Jeṣua ọmọ Josadaki gbáradì fún iṣẹ́ àti tún ilé Ọlọ́run ní Jerusalẹmu kọ́. Àwọn wòlíì Ọlọ́run sì wà pẹ̀lú wọn, tí wọ́n ń ràn wọ́n lọ́wọ́.
3 At the same time Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, came to them, with Shetharbozenai and their companions, and asked them, “Who gave you a decree to build this house and to finish this wall?”
Ní àkókò náà Tatenai, baálẹ̀ ti agbègbè Eufurate àti Ṣetar-bosnai àti àwọn ẹgbẹgbẹ́ wọn lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ wọn. Wọ́n sì béèrè pé, “Ta ni ó fún un yín ní àṣẹ láti tún tẹmpili yìí kọ́ àti láti tún odi yìí mọ?”
4 They also asked for the names of the men who were making this building.
Wọ́n sì tún béèrè pé, “Kí ni orúkọ àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó ń kọ́ ilé yìí?”
5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they didn’t make them cease until the matter should come to Darius, and an answer should be returned by letter concerning it.
Ṣùgbọ́n ojú Ọlọ́run wọn wà lára àwọn àgbàgbà Júù, wọn kò sì dá wọn dúró títí ìròyìn yóò fi dè ọ̀dọ̀ Dariusi kí wọ́n sì gba èsì tí àkọsílẹ̀ láti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
6 The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites who were beyond the River, sent to Darius the king follows.
Èyí ni ẹ̀dà lẹ́tà tí Tatenai, olórí agbègbè Eufurate àti Ṣetar-bosnai àti àwọn ẹlẹgbẹ́ ẹ wọn. Àwọn olóyè ti agbègbè Eufurate, fi ránṣẹ́ sí ọba Dariusi.
7 They sent a letter to him, in which was written: To Darius the king, all peace.
Ìròyìn tí wọ́n fi ránṣẹ́ sí i kà báyìí pé, Sí ọba Dariusi, Àlàáfíà fún un yín.
8 Be it known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is being built with great stones and timber is laid in the walls. This work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.
Kí ọba kí ó mọ̀ pé a lọ sí ẹ̀kún Juda, sí tẹmpili Ọlọ́run tí ó tóbi. Àwọn ènìyàn náà ń kọ́ ọ pẹ̀lú àwọn òkúta ńlá ńlá àti pẹ̀lú fífi àwọn igi sí ara ògiri. Wọ́n ṣe iṣẹ́ náà pẹ̀lú àìsimi, ó sì ń ní ìtẹ̀síwájú kíákíá lábẹ́ ìṣàkóso wọn.
9 Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, “Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
A bi àwọn àgbàgbà, a sì fi ọ̀rọ̀ wá wọn lẹ́nu wò pé, “Ta ni ó fún un yín ní àṣẹ láti tún ilé Olúwa yìí kọ́ àti láti tún odi rẹ̀ mọ?”
10 We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at their head.
A sì tún béèrè orúkọ wọn pẹ̀lú, kí a lè kọ àwọn orúkọ àwọn olórí wọn sílẹ̀ kí ẹ ba à le mọ ọ́n.
11 Thus they returned us answer, saying, “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.
Èyí ni ìdáhùn tí wọ́n fún wa: “Àwa ni ìránṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run ọ̀run àti ayé, àwa sì ń tún tẹmpili ilé Olúwa tí a ti kọ́ ní ọ̀pọ̀ ọdún sẹ́yìn kọ́, èyí tí ọba olókìkí kan ní Israẹli kọ́, tí ó sì parí i rẹ̀.
12 But after our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house and carried the people away into Babylon.
Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí tí àwọn baba wa mú Ọlọ́run ọ̀run bínú, ó fi wọ́n lé Nebukadnessari ti Kaldea, ọba Babeli lọ́wọ́, ẹni tí ó run tẹmpili Olúwa yìí tí ó sì kó àwọn ènìyàn náà padà sí Babeli.
13 But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.
“Ṣùgbọ́n ní ọdún kìn-ín-ní ìjọba Kirusi ọba Babeli, ọba Kirusi pàṣẹ pé kí a tún ilé Ọlọ́run yìí kọ́.
14 The gold and silver vessels of God’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Cyrus the king also took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor.
Òun tilẹ̀ kò jáde láti inú tẹmpili ní Babeli fàdákà àti ohun èlò wúrà ilé Ọlọ́run, èyí tí Nebukadnessari kó láti inú tẹmpili ní Jerusalẹmu wá sí inú tẹmpili ní Babeli. Ọba Kirusi kó wọn fún ọkùnrin kan tí orúkọ rẹ̀ a máa jẹ́ Ṣeṣbassari, ẹni tí ó ti yàn gẹ́gẹ́ bí i baálẹ̀,
15 He said to him, ‘Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let God’s house be built in its place.’
ó sì sọ fún un pé, ‘Kó àwọn ohun èlò yìí kí o lọ, kí o sì kó wọn sí inú ilé Olúwa ní Jerusalẹmu, kí ẹ sì tún ilé Ọlọ́run kọ́ sí ipò o rẹ̀.’
16 Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundations of God’s house which is in Jerusalem. Since that time even until now it has been being built, and yet it is not completed.
“Nígbà náà ni Ṣeṣbassari náà wá, ó sí fi ìpìlẹ̀ ilé Ọlọ́run tí ó wá ní Jerusalẹmu lélẹ̀, láti ìgbà náà àní títí di ìsinsin yìí ni o ti n bẹ ní kíkọ́ ṣùgbọ́n, kò sí tí ì parí tán.”
17 Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let a search be made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it is so that a decree was made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.”
Nísinsin yìí tí ó bá tẹ́ ọba lọ́rùn, ẹ jẹ́ kí a ṣe ìwádìí nínú ìwé ìrántí ní ilé ìṣúra ọba ní Babeli láti rí bí ọba Kirusi fi àṣẹ lélẹ̀ lóòótọ́ láti tún ilé Ọlọ́run yìí kọ́ ní Jerusalẹmu. Nígbà náà jẹ́ kí ọba kó fi ìpinnu rẹ̀ lórí ọ̀rọ̀ yìí ránṣẹ́ sí wa.
