Ezekiel 1
1 Now in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
Es ereignete sich im dreißigsten Jahr im vierten Monat, am fünften des Monats, als ich mich unter den Weggeführten am Flusse Kebar befand, da that sich der Himmel auf, und ich sah ein göttliches Gesicht.
2 In the fifth of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,
Am fünften des Monats - es war das fünfte Jahr nach der Wegführung des Königs Jojachin -,
3 Yahweh’s word came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and Yahweh’s hand was there on him.
da erging das Wort Jahwes an Hesekiel, den Sohn Busis, den Priester, im Lande der Chaldäer am Flusse Kebar, und es kam dort über ihn die Hand Jahwes.
4 I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north: a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around it, and out of the middle of it as it were glowing metal, out of the middle of the fire.
Ich sah aber, wie ein Sturmwind von Norden her kam und eine große Wolke und zusammengeballtes Feuer, und rings um jene her waren Strahlen, und aus diesem heraus blinkte es wie Glanzerz.
5 Out of its center came the likeness of four living creatures. This was their appearance: They had the likeness of a man.
Und zwar schienen aus ihm die Gestalten von vier Wesen hervor. Und dies war ihr Aussehen: Menschengestalt hatten sie.
6 Everyone had four faces, and each one of them had four wings.
Und ein jedes hatte vier Gesichter und ein jedes von ihnen vier Flügel.
7 Their feet were straight feet. The sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like burnished bronze.
Und ihre Beine waren gerade und ihre Fußsohlen wie die eines Kalbes, und sie funkelten, wie geglättetes Erz funkelt.
8 They had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides. The four of them had their faces and their wings like this:
Und unter ihren Flügeln an ihren vier Seiten hatten sie Menschenhände. Und die Angesichter der Viere und ihre Flügel -
9 Their wings were joined to one another. They didn’t turn when they went. Each one went straight forward.
es berührten nämlich ihre Flügel immer einer den andern - wandten sich nicht um, wenn sie gingen: jedes ging gerade vor sich hin.
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they had the face of a man. The four of them had the face of a lion on the right side. The four of them had the face of an ox on the left side. The four of them also had the face of an eagle.
Ihre Gesichter aber sahen so aus: vorn war ein Menschengesicht, auf der rechten Seite ein Löwengesicht, auf der linken Seite ein Stiergesicht und ein Adlergesicht
11 Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above. Two wings of each one touched another, and two covered their bodies.
nach innen zu. Und ihre Flügel waren nach oben hin ausgespannt: je zwei hatten sie miteinander verbunden, und zwei bedeckten ihre Leiber.
12 Each one went straight forward. Where the spirit was to go, they went. They didn’t turn when they went.
Und sie gingen ein jedes gerade vor sich hin; wohin sie der Geist zu gehen trieb, dahin gingen sie; wenn sie gingen, machten sie keine Wendungen.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches. The fire went up and down among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and lightning went out of the fire.
Und zwischen den Wesen sah es aus, wie wenn feurige Kohlen glühten; es war wie wenn Fackeln zwischen den Wesen hin und her führen, und das Feuer hatte einen hellen Glanz, und von dem Feuer gingen Blitze aus.
14 The living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
Und die Tiere liefen hin und her wie der Schein des Blitzes.
15 Now as I saw the living creatures, behold, there was one wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces of it.
Und weiter sah ich, daß auf der Erde neben den vier Wesen je ein Rad war.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like a beryl. The four of them had one likeness. Their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.
Und die Räder waren anzusehen, wie das Blinken von Chrysolith. Und die Viere hatten einerlei Gestalt, und ihre Arbeit war, als wenn ein Rad innerhalb des andern wäre.
17 When they went, they went in their four directions. They didn’t turn when they went.
Nach ihren vier Seiten gingen sie: nicht wandten sie sich, wenn sie gingen.
18 As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and the four of them had their rims full of eyes all around.
Und als ich ihre Felgen ansah, - da waren ihre Felgen ringsum voll Augen bei den Vieren.
19 When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them. When the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
Und wenn die Tiere gingen, so gingen die Räder neben ihnen mit, und wenn sich die Tiere von der Erde erhoben, so erhoben sich auch die Räder.
20 Wherever the spirit was to go, they went. The spirit was to go there. The wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
Wohin der Geist jene zu gehen trieb, dahin gingen sie, und die Räder erhoben sich jedesmal gleichzeitig mit ihnen; denn der Geist der Tiere war in den Rädern.
21 When those went, these went. When those stood, these stood. When those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
Wenn jene gingen, so gingen auch sie, und wenn jene stehen blieben, so blieben auch sie stehen, und wenn sich jene von der Erde erhoben, dann erhoben sich auch die Räder gleichzeitig mit ihnen; denn der Geist der Tiere war in den Rädern.
22 Over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of an expanse, like an awesome crystal to look at, stretched out over their heads above.
Und über den Häuptern der Tiere war ein Gebilde wie eine Veste, glänzend wie Krystall; oben über ihren Häuptern war sie ausgebreitet.
23 Under the expanse, their wings were straight, one toward the other. Each one had two which covered on this side, and each one had two which covered their bodies on that side.
Und unter der Veste waren ihre Flügel einer gegen den andern ausgebreitet; ein jedes aber hatte zwei, welche ihre Leiber bedeckten.
24 When they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of an army. When they stood, they let down their wings.
Und ich hörte das Rauschen ihrer Flügel wie das Rauschen gewaltiger Wasser, wenn sie gingen; wenn sie standen, hingen ihre Flügel schlaff herab.
25 There was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads. When they stood, they let down their wings.
Es war aber ein Getöse oberhalb der Veste, die sich über ihrem Haupt befand; wenn sie standen, hingen ihre Flügel schlaff herab.
26 Above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone. On the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.
Oben über der Veste aber, die sich über ihrem Haupte befand, war es anzusehen wie ein Sapphirstein; da war ein Gebilde wie ein Thron, und auf dem Throngebilde war ein Gebilde, anzusehen wie ein Mensch, oben darauf.
27 I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it all around, from the appearance of his waist and upward; and from the appearance of his waist and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.
Und ich sah es leuchten wie Glanzerz von dem an, was wie seine Hüften aussah, nach oben hin; und von dem an, was wie seine Hüften aussah, nach unten zu hatte ich einen Anblick wie von Feuer. Und rings um ihn her war Glanz:
28 As the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of Yahweh’s glory. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
wie der Bogen aussieht, der sich am Regentag im Gewölke zu zeigen pflegt, so war der Glanz ringsum anzusehen. So war die Erscheinung der Herrlichkeit Jahwes anzusehen. Und als ich sie erblickte, da fiel ich auf mein Angesicht. Und ich hörte die Stimme eines, der da redete.
