Exodus 7
1 Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
Dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “He aquí que te he constituido dios para el Faraón, y Aarón, tu hermano, será tu profeta,
2 You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
al cual dirás todo lo que Yo te mandare; y Aarón, tu hermano, se lo dirá al Faraón, a fin de que deje salir de su país a los hijos de Israel.
3 I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
Yo, entretanto, endureceré el corazón del Faraón, y multiplicaré mis señales y mis prodigios en el país de Egipto.
4 But Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
El Faraón no os escuchará, pero Yo pondré mi mano sobre Egipto, y sacaré de la tierra de Egipto a mi ejército, mi pueblo, los hijos de Israel a fuerza de severos juicios.
5 The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring the children of Israel out from among them.”
Y conocerán los egipcios que Yo soy Yahvé, cuando extienda mi mano sobre Egipto y saque de en medio de ellos a los hijos de Israel.”
6 Moses and Aaron did so. As Yahweh commanded them, so they did.
Lo hicieron Moisés y Aarón. Como les había mandado Yahvé, así hicieron.
7 Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
Tenía Moisés ochenta años, y Aarón ochenta y tres, cuando hablaron al Faraón.
8 Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Después habló Yahvé a Moisés y a Aarón, y dijo:
9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Perform a miracle!’ then you shall tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.’”
“Cuando el Faraón os dijere: Haced algún milagro en favor vuestro, dirás a Aarón: Toma tu vara y échala delante del Faraón, y se convertirá en serpiente.”
10 Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded. Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Se presentaron Moisés y Aarón al Faraón, e hicieron según la orden de Yahvé: Aarón echó su vara delante del Faraón y delante de sus servidores, la cual se convirtió en serpiente.
11 Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same thing with their enchantments.
Mas el Faraón llamó igualmente a los sabios y a los hechiceros, y también ellos, los magos egipcios, hicieron con sus encantamientos las mismas cosas.
12 For they each cast down their rods, and they became serpents; but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.
Echaron ellos cada cual su vara, y se convirtieron en serpientes; pero la vara de Aarón se tragó las varas de ellos.
13 Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
Sin embargo, se endureció el corazón del Faraón, de manera que no los escuchó, como había dicho Yahvé.
14 Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn. He refuses to let the people go.
Entonces dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “El corazón del Faraón es duro; se niega a dejar salir al pueblo.
15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning. Behold, he is going out to the water. You shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him. You shall take the rod which was turned to a serpent in your hand.
Preséntate, pues, al Faraón por la mañana, cuando salga a las aguas. Tú lo esperarás a la orilla del río, y tomarás en tu mano la vara que se convirtió en serpiente.
16 You shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, “Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. Behold, until now you haven’t listened.”
Le dirás: ‘Yahvé, el Dios de los hebreos, me ha enviado a ti con esta orden: Deja ir a mi pueblo, a fin de que me den culto en el desierto; y he aquí que no has escuchado hasta ahora.
17 Yahweh says, “In this you shall know that I am Yahweh. Behold: I will strike with the rod that is in my hand on the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
Por lo tanto, así dice Yahvé: En esto conocerás que Yo soy Yahvé: Mira que voy a golpear con la vara que tengo en la mano las aguas del río, y se convertirán en sangre.
18 The fish that are in the river will die and the river will become foul. The Egyptians will loathe to drink water from the river.”’”
Los peces que hay en el río morirán, el río hederá, y los egipcios tendrán asco de beber las aguas del río’.”
19 Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood. There will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”
Yahvé dijo también a Moisés: “Di a Aarón: Toma tu vara, y extiende tu mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, sobre sus canales, sobre sus ríos, sobre sus lagunas y sobre todos sus depósitos de agua. Y se convertirán en sangre. Habrá sangre en toda la tierra de Egipto, lo mismo en las vasijas de madera que en las de piedra.”
20 Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
Hicieron Moisés y Aarón como les había mandado Yahvé: Levantó (Aarón) la vara y golpeó las aguas en presencia del Faraón y de sus servidores, y se convirtieron todas las aguas del río en sangre.
21 The fish that were in the river died. The river became foul. The Egyptians couldn’t drink water from the river. The blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.
Los peces que había en el río murieron, quedó apestado el río y los egipcios no podían beber las aguas del río; y hubo sangre en todo el país de Egipto.
22 The magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their enchantments. So Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.
Pero lo mismo hicieron los magos de Egipto con sus encantamientos; por lo cual se endureció el corazón del Faraón y no los escuchó, como había dicho Yahvé.
23 Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart.
Luego se volvió el Faraón y se retiró a su palacio sin hacer caso de estas cosas.
24 All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink; for they couldn’t drink the river water.
Y todos los egipcios cavaron en los alrededores del río para hallar agua potable, porque no podían beber las aguas del río.
25 Seven days were fulfilled, after Yahweh had struck the river.
Pasaron siete días después que Yahvé había herido el río, y dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Preséntate al Faraón y dile: Así dice Yahvé: Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me sirva. Y si rehúsas dejarlo ir, he aquí que voy a castigar todo tu país con ranas. El río bullirá de ranas, que subirán y entrarán en tu casa, en tu alcoba y en tu lecho, en las casas de tus servidores y entre tu pueblo, en tus hornos y en tus artesas. Subirán las ranas sobre ti, y sobre tu pueblo, y sobre tus siervos.”
