Ephesians 4
1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
Σας παρακαλώ λοιπόν εγώ ο δέσμιος εν Κυρίω να περιπατήσητε αξίως της προσκλήσεως, καθ' ην προσεκλήθητε,
2 with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
μετά πάσης ταπεινοφροσύνης και πραότητος, μετά μακροθυμίας, υποφέροντες αλλήλους εν αγάπη,
3 being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
σπουδάζοντες να διατηρήτε την ενότητα του Πνεύματος διά του συνδέσμου της ειρήνης.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling,
Εν σώμα και εν Πνεύμα, καθώς και προσεκλήθητε με μίαν ελπίδα της προσκλήσεώς σας·
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
εις Κύριος, μία πίστις, εν βάπτισμα·
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in us all.
εις Θεός και Πατήρ πάντων, ο ων επί πάντων και διά πάντων και εν πάσιν υμίν.
7 But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Εις ένα δε έκαστον ημών εδόθη η χάρις κατά το μέτρον της δωρεάς του Χριστού.
8 Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to people.”
Διά τούτο λέγει· Αναβάς εις ύψος, ηχμαλώτευσεν αιχμαλωσίαν και έδωκε χαρίσματα εις τους ανθρώπους.
9 Now this, “He ascended”, what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?
Το δε ανέβη τι είναι ειμή ότι και κατέβη πρώτον εις τα κατώτερα μέρη της γης;
10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.
Ο καταβάς αυτός είναι και ο αναβάς υπεράνω πάντων των ουρανών, διά να πληρώση τα πάντα.
11 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers;
Και αυτός έδωκεν άλλους μεν αποστόλους, άλλους δε προφήτας, άλλους δε ευαγγελιστάς, άλλους δε ποιμένας και διδασκάλους,
12 for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ,
προς την τελειοποίησιν των αγίων, διά το έργον της διακονίας, διά την οικοδομήν του σώματος του Χριστού,
13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
εωσού καταντήσωμεν πάντες εις την ενότητα της πίστεως και της επιγνώσεως του Υιού του Θεού, εις άνδρα τέλειον, εις μέτρον ηλικίας του πληρώματος του Χριστού,
14 that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;
διά να μη ήμεθα πλέον νήπιοι, κυματιζόμενοι και περιφερόμενοι με πάντα άνεμον της διδασκαλίας, διά της δολιότητος των ανθρώπων, διά της πανουργίας εις το μεθοδεύεσθαι την πλάνην,
15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ,
αλλά αληθεύοντες εις την αγάπην να αυξήσωμεν εις αυτόν κατά πάντα, όστις είναι η κεφαλή, ο Χριστός,
16 from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.
εξ ου παν το σώμα συναρμολογούμενον και συνδεόμενον διά πάσης συναφείας των συνεργούντων μελών, κατά την ανάλογον ενέργειαν ενός εκάστου μέρους κάμνει την αύξησιν του σώματος προς οικοδομήν εαυτού εν αγάπη.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,
Τούτο λοιπόν λέγω και μαρτύρομαι διά του Κυρίου, να μη περιπατήτε πλέον καθώς και τα λοιπά έθνη περιπατούσιν εν τη ματαιότητι του νοός αυτών,
18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts.
εσκοτισμένοι την διάνοιαν, απηλλοτριωμένοι όντες από της ζωής του Θεού διά την άγνοιαν την ούσαν εν αυτοίς, διά την πώρωσιν της καρδίας αυτών,
19 They, having become callous, gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
οίτινες αναισθητούντες, παρέδωκαν εαυτοίς εις την ασέλγειαν, διά να εργάζωνται πάσαν ακαθαρσίαν ακορέστως.
20 But you didn’t learn Christ that way,
Σεις όμως δεν εμάθετε ούτω τον Χριστόν,
21 if indeed you heard him and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:
επειδή αυτόν ηκούσατε και εις αυτόν εδιδάχθητε, καθώς είναι η αλήθεια εν τω Ιησού·
22 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit,
να απεκδυθήτε τον παλαιόν άνθρωπον τον κατά την προτέραν διαγωγήν, τον φθειρόμενον κατά τας απατηλάς επιθυμίας,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
και να ανανεόνησθε εις το πνεύμα του νοός σας
24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
και να ενδυθήτε τον νέον άνθρωπον, τον κτισθέντα κατά Θεόν εν δικαιοσύνη και οσιότητι της αληθείας.
25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.
Όθεν απορρίψαντες το ψεύδος, λαλείτε αλήθειαν έκαστος μετά του πλησίον αυτού· διότι είμεθα μέλη αλλήλων.
26 “Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,
Οργίζεσθε και μη αμαρτάνετε· ο ήλιος ας μη δύη επί τον παροργισμόν σας,
27 and don’t give place to the devil.
μήτε δίδετε τόπον εις τον διάβολον.
28 Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.
Ο κλέπτων ας μη κλέπτη πλέον, μάλλον δε ας κοπιάζη εργαζόμενος το καλόν με τας χείρας αυτού, διά να έχη να μεταδίδη εις τον χρείαν έχοντα.
29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Μηδείς λόγος σαπρός ας μη εξέρχηται εκ του στόματός σας, αλλ' όστις είναι καλός προς οικοδομήν της χρείας, διά να δώση χάριν εις τους ακούοντας.
30 Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Και μη λυπείτε το Πνεύμα το Άγιον του Θεού, με το οποίον εσφραγίσθητε διά την ημέραν της απολυτρώσεως.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice.
Πάσα πικρία και θυμός και οργή και κραυγή και βλασφημία ας αφαιρεθή από σας μετά πάσης κακίας·
32 And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
γίνεσθε δε εις αλλήλους χρηστοί, εύσπλαγχνοι, συγχωρούντες αλλήλους, καθώς ο Θεός συνεχώρησεν εσάς διά του Χριστού.
