1 Samuel 1
1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
౧ఎఫ్రాయిము కొండ ప్రాంతంలో రామతయిము-సోఫీము అనే ఊరిలో ఒక వ్యక్తి ఉండేవాడు. అతని పేరు ఎల్కానా. అతడు యెరోహాము కొడుకు. యెరోహాము ఎలీహు కొడుకు. ఎలీహు తోహు కొడుకు. తోహు సూపు కొడుకు. సూపు ఎఫ్రాయీము గోత్రంవాడు. ఎల్కానాకు ఇద్దరు భార్యలు.
2 He had two wives. The name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
౨ఒకామె హన్నా, రెండవది పెనిన్నా. పెనిన్నాకు పిల్లలు పుట్టారు, హన్నాకు పిల్లలు లేరు.
3 This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Yahweh of Armies in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests to Yahweh, were there.
౩ఎల్కానా షిలోహులో సైన్యాలకు అధిపతి అయిన యెహోవాకు మొక్కుబడులు చెల్లించడానికీ, బలులు అర్పించడానికీ ప్రతి సంవత్సరం తన ఊరినుండి అక్కడికి వెళ్తుండేవాడు. ఆ రోజుల్లో ఏలీ కుమారులు హొఫ్నీ, ఫీనెహాసు అనే ఇద్దరు యెహోవాకు యాజకులుగా ఉన్నారు.
4 When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters;
౪ఎల్కానా బలి అర్పించే సమయంలో అతని భార్య పెనిన్నాకు, ఆమె కుమారులకు, కుమార్తెలకు భాగం ఇస్తూ వచ్చాడు.
5 but he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved Hannah, but Yahweh had shut up her womb.
౫అయితే అతనికి హన్నా అంటే ఎక్కువ ఇష్టం గనక యెహోవా ఆమెకు సంతానం ఇవ్వకపోయినా అతడు ఆమెకు రెండు భాగాలు ఇస్తుండేవాడు.
6 Her rival provoked her severely, to irritate her, because Yahweh had shut up her womb.
౬యెహోవా ఆమెకు సంతానం కలగకుండా చేయడంవల్ల ఆమె సవతి పెనిన్నా ఆమెను విసిగిస్తూ, కోపం పుట్టిస్తూ ఉండేది.
7 So year by year, when she went up to Yahweh’s house, her rival provoked her. Therefore she wept, and didn’t eat.
౭ఎల్కానా ప్రతి సంవత్సరం అలాగే చేస్తూ ఉండేవాడు. హన్నా యెహోవా మందిరానికి వెళ్ళినప్పుడల్లా పెనిన్నా ఆమెను విసిగించేది. అందువల్ల ఆమె భోజనం చేయకుండా ఏడుస్తూ ఉండేది.
8 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why don’t you eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”
౮ఆమె భర్త ఎల్కానా “హన్నా, నీవెందుకు ఏడుస్తున్నావు? భోజనం ఎందుకు చేయడం లేదు? నీ మనసులో విచారం ఎందుకు? పదిమంది కొడుకులకన్నా నేను నీకు ఎక్కువ కాదా?” అని ఆమెతో చెబుతూ ఉండేవాడు.
9 So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of Yahweh’s temple.
౯వారు షిలోహులో భోజనం ముగించిన తరువాత హన్నా లేచినపుడు యాజకుడైన ఏలీ మందిర స్తంభం దగ్గర ఉన్న కుర్చీపై కూర్చుని ఉన్నాడు.
10 She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Yahweh, weeping bitterly.
౧౦తీవ్రమైన దుఃఖంలో ఉన్న హన్నా యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో ఏడుస్తూ ప్రార్థన చేస్తూ ఉంది.
11 She vowed a vow, and said, “Yahweh of Armies, if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant and remember me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and no razor shall come on his head.”
౧౧ఆమె ఒక ప్రమాణం చేస్తూ “సైన్యాలకు అధిపతి అయిన యెహోవా, నీ సేవకురాలనైన నాకు కలిగిన బాధను చూసి నన్ను మరచిపోకుండా జ్ఞాపకం చేసుకుని, నీ సేవకురాలనైన నాకు ఒక కుమారుణ్ణి దయచేస్తే వాడు బతికే కాలమంతా వాణ్ణి యెహోవాకు సమర్పిస్తాను. వాడి తలకు ఎన్నటికీ మంగలి కత్తి తగలనియ్యను” అని చెప్పింది. ఆమె యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో ప్రార్థన చేస్తుండగా ఏలీ ఆమె నోటి కదలికలు కనిపెడుతున్నాడు.
12 As she continued praying before Yahweh, Eli saw her mouth.
౧౨ఎందుకంటే హన్నా తన మనస్సులోనే మాట్లాడుకుంటూ ఉంది.
13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
౧౩ఆమె పెదవులు మాత్రం కదులుతున్నాయి. ఆమె స్వరం వినబడడం లేదు. అందువల్ల ఏలీ ఆమె మద్యం సేవించి ఉంది అనుకున్నాడు.
14 Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Get rid of your wine!”
౧౪అతడామెతో “ఎంతసేపు నువ్వు మత్తులో ఉంటావు? ద్రాక్ష మద్యం ఇక చాలించు” అన్నాడు.
15 Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Yahweh.
౧౫అందుకు హన్నా “ప్రభూ, అది కాదు, నేను మనసులో దుఃఖంతో నిండి ఉన్నాను. నేను ద్రాక్షరసం గానీ, మరి ఏ మద్యం గానీ తీసుకోలేదు. నా ఆత్మను యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో ఒలకబోస్తూ ఉన్నాను.
16 Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.”
౧౬నీ సేవకురాలనైన నన్ను చెడ్డదానిగా అనుకోవద్దు. మితిమీరిన దిగులు, అందోళనల వల్ల నాలో నేను చెప్పుకుంటున్నాను” అని జవాబిచ్చింది.
17 Then Eli answered, “Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him.”
౧౭అప్పుడు ఏలీ “నువ్వు క్షేమంగా వెళ్లు. ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవునితో నువ్వు చేసికొన్న మనవి ఆయన దయచేస్తాడు గాక” అని ఆమెతో చెప్పాడు.
18 She said, “Let your servant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate; and her facial expression wasn’t sad any more.
౧౮ఆమె అతనితో “నీ సేవకురాలనైన నేను ఈ విషయంలో కృప పొందుతాను” అన్నది. తరువాత ఆ స్త్రీ తన ఇంటికి వెళ్లిపోయి భోజనం చేస్తూ అప్పటినుండి విచారంగా ఉండడం మానుకుంది.
19 They rose up in the morning early and worshiped Yahweh, then returned and came to their house to Ramah. Then Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Yahweh remembered her.
౧౯తరువాత వారు ఉదయాన్నే త్వరగా లేచి యెహోవాకు మొక్కి తిరిగి రమాలోని తమ ఇంటికి వచ్చారు. అప్పుడు ఎల్కానా తన భార్య హన్నాను కూడినప్పుడు, యెహోవా ఆమె ప్రార్థనకు జవాబిచ్చాడు.
20 When the time had come, Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked him of Yahweh.”
౨౦హన్నా గర్భం ధరించి, రోజులు గడిచిన తరువాత ఒక కొడుకుని కని “నేను మహోన్నతమైన యెహోవాకు మొక్కుకుని వీణ్ణి అడిగాను” అని చెప్పి ఆ పసికందుకు సమూయేలు అని పేరు పెట్టింది.
21 The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to Yahweh the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
౨౧ఎల్కానా, అతని ఇంటి వారంతా యెహోవాకు ప్రతి ఏడూ అర్పించే బలులు అర్పించడానికి, మొక్కుబడులు చెల్లించడానికి వెళ్లారు.
22 But Hannah didn’t go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before Yahweh, and stay there forever.”
౨౨అయితే హన్నా “బిడ్డ పాలు మానే వరకూ నేను రాను, వాడు యెహోవా సన్నిధిలో కనపడి మళ్ళీ తిరిగి రాకుండా అక్కడే ఉండేలా నేను వాణ్ణి తీసుకువస్తాను” అని తన భర్తతో చెప్పి మందిరానికి వెళ్ళలేదు.
23 Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems good to you. Wait until you have weaned him; only may Yahweh establish his word.” So the woman waited and nursed her son until she weaned him.
౨౩అప్పుడు ఆమె భర్త ఎల్కానా “నీకు ఏది మంచిదనిపిస్తే అది చెయ్యి. నువ్వు వాడికి పాలు మాన్పించే వరకూ రావద్దు. యెహోవా తన వాక్కును స్థిరపరుస్తాడు గాక” అని ఆమెతో అన్నాడు. ఆమె అక్కడే ఉండిపోయి తన కొడుకు పాలు మానేవరకూ అతన్ని పెంచుతూ ఉంది.
24 When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of meal, and a container of wine, and brought him to Yahweh’s house in Shiloh. The child was young.
౨౪పాలు మానిన తరువాత బాలుడు ఇంకా పసి వాడుగా ఉన్నప్పుడే ఆమె అతణ్ణి ఎత్తుకుని మూడేళ్ళ కోడెదూడ, తూమెడు పిండి, ద్రాక్షారసం తిత్తిని తీసుకు షిలోహులోని మందిరానికి వచ్చింది.
25 They killed the bull, and brought the child to Eli.
౨౫వారు ఒక కోడెను వధించి, పిల్లవాణ్ణి ఏలీ దగ్గరకి తీసుకు వచ్చారు. అప్పుడామె అతనితో ఇలా చెప్పింది,
26 She said, “Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to Yahweh.
౨౬“ప్రభూ, నా ప్రభువు జీవం తోడు నీ దగ్గర నిలబడి బిడ్డను దయచేయమని యెహోవాను ప్రార్థించిన స్త్రీని నేనే.
27 I prayed for this child, and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of him.
౨౭యెహోవాను నేను వేడుకొన్నది ఆయన నాకు అనుగ్రహించాడు.
28 Therefore I have also given him to Yahweh. As long as he lives he is given to Yahweh.” He worshiped Yahweh there.
౨౮కాబట్టి నేను ఆ బిడ్డను యెహోవాకు సమర్పిస్తున్నాను. అతడు జీవించే కాలమంతటిలో వాడు యెహోవాకు ప్రతిష్ట అయిన వాడు” అని చెప్పింది. ఎల్కానా, అతని కుటుంబం అక్కడే యెహోవాను ఆరాధించారు.
