1 Samuel 15
1 Samuel said to Saul, “Yahweh sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel. Now therefore listen to the voice of Yahweh’s words.
૧શમુએલે શાઉલને કહ્યું કે, “ઈશ્વર પોતાના લોક એટલે ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર રાજા થવા સારુ તને અભિષિક્ત કરવાને મને મોકલ્યો હતો. માટે હવે ઈશ્વરની વાણી સાંભળ.
2 Yahweh of Armies says, ‘I remember what Amalek did to Israel, how he set himself against him on the way when he came up out of Egypt.
૨સૈન્યોના ઈશ્વર એમ કહે છે કે, ‘અમાલેકે જયારે ઇઝરાયલને મિસરમાંથી નીકળીને જતા જે કર્યું એટલે કેવી રીતે માર્ગમાં તેની સામે થયો, તે મેં ધ્યાનમાં લીધું છે.
3 Now go and strike Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and don’t spare them; but kill both man and woman, infant and nursing baby, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”
૩હવે તું જઈને અમાલેકને તથા તેઓનું જે કંઈ હોય તેનો પૂરેપૂરો નાશ કર. તેમના પર દયા કરીશ નહિ, પણ પુરુષ તથા સ્ત્રી, મોટાં અને નાનાં બાળકો, બળદ અને ઘેટાં, ઊંટ અને ગધેડાં, એ સર્વને મારી નાખ.’”
4 Saul summoned the people, and counted them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen and ten thousand men of Judah.
૪શાઉલે લોકોને બોલાવીને ટલાઈમ નગરમાં તેઓની ગણતરી કરી: તો બે લાખ પાયદળ અને યહૂદિયાના દસ હજાર માણસો થયા હતા.
5 Saul came to the city of Amalek, and set an ambush in the valley.
૫શાઉલ અમાલેકના નગર પાસે જઈને ખીણમાં સંતાઈ રહ્યો.
6 Saul said to the Kenites, “Go, depart, go down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them; for you showed kindness to all the children of Israel when they came up out of Egypt.” So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
૬ત્યારે શાઉલે કેનીઓને કહ્યું કે, “જાઓ, પ્રયાણ કરો, અમાલેકીઓની વચ્ચેથી બહાર નીકળી પડો, તેથી તેઓની સાથે તમારો નાશ હું ન કરું. કેમ કે તમે ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ લોકો સાથે જયારે તેઓ મિસરમાંથી આવ્યા ત્યારે માયાળુપણે વર્ત્યા હતા.” તેથી કેનીઓ અમાલેકીઓમાંથી નીકળી ગયા.
7 Saul struck the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, which is before Egypt.
૭ત્યારે શાઉલે હવીલાથી તે મિસરની પૂર્વ બાજુ શૂર સુધી હુમલો કરીને અમાલેકીઓનો સંહાર કર્યો.
8 He took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
૮અમાલેકીઓના રાજા અગાગને તેણે જીવતો પકડ્યો; તેણે બધા જ લોકોનો તલવારની ધારથી સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કર્યો.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, of the cattle, of the fat calves, of the lambs, and all that was good, and were not willing to utterly destroy them; but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
૯પણ શાઉલે તથા લોકોએ અગાગનો તથા તેના ઘેટાં, બળદો તથા પુષ્ટ જાનવરો, હલવાનોમાંથી ઉત્તમ તથા સર્વ સારી વસ્તુઓનો તેઓએ નાશ કર્યો નહિ. પ્રત્યેક નકામી અને ધિક્કારપાત્ર વસ્તુઓનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કર્યો.
10 Then Yahweh’s word came to Samuel, saying,
૧૦ત્યારે ઈશ્વરનું વચન શમુએલની પાસે એવું આવ્યું,
11 “It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments.” Samuel was angry; and he cried to Yahweh all night.
૧૧“શાઉલને રાજા ઠરાવ્યો છે તેથી મને અનુતાપ થાય છે, કેમ કે મારી પાછળ ચાલવાનું મૂકી દઈને તે પાછો ફરી ગયો છે અને મારી આજ્ઞાઓ તેણે પાળી નથી.” શમુએલને ગુસ્સો આવ્યો તેણે આખી રાત ઈશ્વરની આગળ રડીને વિનંતી કરી.
12 Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning; and Samuel was told, saying, “Saul came to Carmel, and behold, he set up a monument for himself, turned, passed on, and went down to Gilgal.”
૧૨સવારે શાઉલને મળવાને શમુએલ વહેલો ઊઠ્યો. શમુએલને કહેવામાં આવ્યું, “શાઉલ કાર્મેલમાં આવ્યો છે. તેણે પોતાને માટે એક કીર્તિસ્તંભ ઊભો કર્યો છે, ત્યાંથી પાછો વળીને આગળ ચાલીને નીચે ગિલ્ગાલમાં ગયો છે.”
13 Samuel came to Saul; and Saul said to him, “You are blessed by Yahweh! I have performed the commandment of Yahweh.”
૧૩શમુએલ શાઉલ પાસે આવ્યો. શાઉલે તેને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વર તને આશીર્વાદ આપો! મેં ઈશ્વરની આજ્ઞા પૂરે પૂરી પાળી છે.”
14 Samuel said, “Then what does this bleating of the sheep in my ears and the lowing of the cattle which I hear mean?”
૧૪શમુએલે કહ્યું, “ત્યારે ઘેટાંના જે અવાજ મારે કાને પડે છે તે શું છે? બળદોનું બરાડવું જે હું સાંભળું છું, તે શું છે?”
15 Saul said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the cattle, to sacrifice to Yahweh your God. We have utterly destroyed the rest.”
૧૫શાઉલે કહ્યું કે, “તેઓને તેઓ અમાલેકીઓ પાસેથી લાવ્યા છે. લોકોએ ઉત્તમ ઘેટાં અને બળદો, તમારા પ્રભુ ઈશ્વર આગળ યજ્ઞ કરવા રાખ્યાં છે, બાકીનાઓનો અમે સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કર્યો છે.”
16 Then Samuel said to Saul, “Stay, and I will tell you what Yahweh said to me last night.” He said to him, “Say on.”
૧૬ત્યારે શમુએલે શાઉલને કહ્યું, “ઊભો રહે, આજે રાત્રે ઈશ્વરે મને જે કહ્યું છે તે હું તને કહું, શાઉલે તેને કહ્યું, “કહે!”
17 Samuel said, “Though you were little in your own sight, weren’t you made the head of the tribes of Israel? Yahweh anointed you king over Israel;
૧૭શમુએલે કહ્યું, “તું પોતાની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જૂજ જેવો હતો તો પણ તને ઇઝરાયલનાં કુળો પર મુખ્ય બનાવ્યો નહોતો શું? અને ઈશ્વરે તને ઇઝરાયલના રાજા તરીકે અભિષિક્ત કર્યો;
18 and Yahweh sent you on a journey, and said, ‘Go, and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.’
૧૮ઈશ્વરે તને તારા માર્ગે મોકલીને કહ્યું, ‘જા, તે પાપી અમાલેકીઓનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કર, તેઓનો નાશ ન થાય ત્યાં સુધી તેઓની સાથે લડાઈ કર.’
19 Why then didn’t you obey Yahweh’s voice, but took the plunder, and did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight?”
૧૯તો ઈશ્વરની વાણી તેં કેમ માની નહિ? તેં લૂંટ પર કબજો કર્યો અને ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે દુષ્ટ હતું તે શા માટે કર્યું?”
20 Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed Yahweh’s voice, and have gone the way which Yahweh sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
૨૦શાઉલે શમુએલને કહ્યું, “મેં ઈશ્વરની વાણી માની છે, જે માર્ગે ઈશ્વરે મને મોકલ્યો હતો તે માર્ગે હું ગયો છું. મેં અમાલેકના રાજા અગાગને પકડ્યો છે અને અમાલેકીઓનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ કર્યો છે.
21 But the people took of the plunder, sheep and cattle, the best of the devoted things, to sacrifice to Yahweh your God in Gilgal.”
૨૧પણ લોકોએ લૂંટમાંથી થોડો ભાગ લીધો જેમ કે નાશનિર્મિત વસ્તુઓમાંથી ઉત્તમ ઘેટાં તથા બળદો પ્રભુ ઈશ્વરની આગળ ગિલ્ગાલમાં બલિદાન કરવા સારુ લીધાં છે.”
22 Samuel said, “Has Yahweh as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying Yahweh’s voice? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
૨૨શમુએલે કહ્યું કે, “શું ઈશ્વર પોતાની વાણી માનવામાં આવ્યાથી જેટલા રાજી થાય છે, તેટલાં દહનીયાર્પણો તથા બલિદાનોથી થાય છે શું? બલિદાન કરતાં આજ્ઞાપાલન સારું છે, ઘેટાંની ચરબી કરતાં વચન પાળવું સારું છે.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because you have rejected Yahweh’s word, he has also rejected you from being king.”
૨૩કેમ કે વિદ્રોહ એ જોષ જોવાના પાપ જેવો છે, હઠીલાઈ એ દુષ્ટતા તથા મૂર્તિપૂજા જેવી છે. કેમ કે તેં ઈશ્વરના શબ્દનો ઇનકાર કર્યો છે, માટે તેમણે પણ તને રાજપદેથી પડતો મૂક્યો છે.”
24 Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned; for I have transgressed the commandment of Yahweh and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.
૨૪શાઉલે શમુએલને કહ્યું, “મેં પાપ કર્યું છે; કેમ કે મેં ઈશ્વરની આજ્ઞા તથા તારી વાતોનું ઉલ્લંઘન કર્યું છે, કારણ કે મેં લોકોથી બીને તેઓની વાણી સાંભળી.
25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship Yahweh.”
૨૫તો હવે, કૃપા કરી મારા પાપની ક્ષમા કર, મારી સાથે પાછો ચાલ, કે હું ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરું.”
26 Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you; for you have rejected Yahweh’s word, and Yahweh has rejected you from being king over Israel.”
૨૬શમુએલે શાઉલને કહ્યું કે, “હું પાછો ફરીને તારી સાથે નહિ આવું; કેમ કે તેં ઈશ્વરનો શબ્દ નકાર્યો છે. અને ઈશ્વરે તને ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર રાજા બનવાથી નકાર્યો છે.”
27 As Samuel turned around to go away, Saul grabbed the skirt of his robe, and it tore.
૨૭પછી શમુએલે જતા રહેવા માટે પીઠ ફેરવી, ત્યારે શાઉલે તેને ન જવા દેવા માટે તેના ઝભ્ભાની કોર પકડી અને તે ફાટી ગઈ.
28 Samuel said to him, “Yahweh has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.
૨૮શમુએલે તેને કહ્યું કે, “ઈશ્વરે આજે ઇઝરાયલનું રાજ્ય તારી પાસેથી ફાડી લીધું છે અને તારો પડોશી, જે તારા કરતાં સારો છે તેને આપ્યું છે.
29 Also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.”
૨૯અને વળી, જે ઇઝરાયલનું સામર્થ્ય છે તે જૂઠું બોલશે નહિ અને પોતાનો નિર્ણય બદલશે નહિ, કેમ કે તે માણસ નથી કે તે અનુતાપ કરે.”
30 Then he said, “I have sinned; yet please honor me now before the elders of my people and before Israel, and come back with me, that I may worship Yahweh your God.”
૩૦ત્યારે શાઉલે કહ્યું, “મેં પાપ કર્યું છે. પણ કૃપા કરી હાલ મારા લોકોના વડીલો આગળ અને ઇઝરાયલ આગળ મારું માન રાખ, ફરીથી મારી સાથે પાછો આવ જેથી મારા પ્રભુ ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ હું કરું.”
31 So Samuel went back with Saul; and Saul worshiped Yahweh.
૩૧તેથી શમુએલ ફરીને શાઉલની પાછળ પાછો ગયો અને શાઉલે ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરી.
32 Then Samuel said, “Bring Agag the king of the Amalekites here to me!” Agag came to him cheerfully. Agag said, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.”
૩૨ત્યારે શમુએલે કહ્યું, “અમાલેકીઓના રાજા અગાગને અહીં મારી પાસે લાવો.” અગાગ તેની પાસે ખુશીથી આવ્યો અને તેણે કહ્યું, “નિશ્ચે મરણની વેદના વીતી ગઈ છે.”
33 Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so your mother will be childless among women!” Then Samuel cut Agag in pieces before Yahweh in Gilgal.
૩૩શમુએલે કહ્યું, “જેમ તારી તલવારે સ્ત્રીઓને પુત્રહીન કરી છે, તેમ તારી માતા સ્ત્રીઓ મધ્યે પુત્રહીન થશે.” ત્યારે શમુએલે ગિલ્ગાલમાં ઈશ્વરની આગળ અગાગને કાપીને ટુકડે ટુકડાં કર્યા.
34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
૩૪ત્યારબાદ શમુએલ રામામાં ગયો, શાઉલ પોતાને ઘરે ગિબયામાં ગયો.
35 Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death, but Samuel mourned for Saul. Yahweh grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.
૩૫શમુએલે પોતાના મરણના દિવસ સુધી શાઉલને ફરીથી જોયો નહિ, તો પણ શમુએલ શાઉલને માટે શોક કરતો હતો. અને શાઉલને ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર રાજા ઠરાવ્યાને લીધે ઈશ્વરને અનુતાપ થયો.
