< 1 Peter 2 >
1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Kale mukomye buli ngeri yonna ey’ettima, n’obulimba bwonna, n’obukuusa, n’obuggya, n’okwogera ekibi kwonna.
2 as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
Ng’abaana abaakazaalibwa bwe beegomba amata, nammwe mwegombenga amata ag’omwoyo, muganywenga mukule era mulokolebwe,
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
kubanga mwalega ku bulungi bwa Mukama.
4 Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
Mujje gy’ali kubanga ye ly’ejjinja eddamu, abantu lye baasuula nga balowooza nti terigasa, kyokka eryalondebwa Katonda era ery’omugaso omunene ennyo.
5 You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Mujje gy’ali nga muli ng’amayinja amalamu, muzimbibwemu ennyumba ey’omwoyo. Mulyoke mube bakabona be abaweereza ssaddaaka ey’omwoyo, esiimibwa Katonda mu Yesu Kristo Mukama waffe.
6 Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Kubanga ekyawandiikibwa kigamba nti, “Laba, nteeka mu Sayuuni, ejjinja ery’oku nsonda ery’omuwendo omungi eddonde, oyo eyeesiga Kristo, taliswazibwa.”
7 For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
Ejjinja eryo lya muwendo mungi nnyo eri mmwe abakkiriza. Naye eri abatakkiriza, “Lye jjinja abazimbi lye baagaana, lye lifuuse ejjinja ekkulu ery’oku nsonda.”
8 and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.” For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.
Era “Lye jjinja abantu lye beekoonako, lwe lwazi kwe beesittala ne bagwa.” Beesittala kubanga bajeemera ekigambo kya Katonda, nga bwe ky’ateekebwateekebwa.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Naye mwe muli kika kironde, bakabona bw’obwakabaka, eggwanga ettukuvu, abantu ba Katonda bennyini. Mwalondebwa mulyoke mutende ebirungi bya Katonda eyabaggya mu kizikiza n’abayingiza mu butangaavu bwe obutenkanika.
10 In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Edda temwali ggwanga, naye kaakano muli ggwanga lya Katonda, era mwali temusaasirwa, naye kaakano Katonda abasaasidde.
11 Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims to abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Abaagalwa, mutegeerere ddala nti ku nsi kuno muli bayise. Kyenva mbeegayirira mwewale okwegomba kw’omubiri, kubanga kulwanagana n’omwoyo.
12 having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation.
Mukuumenga empisa zammwe ennungi, abo be mubeera nabo abatakkiriza, newaakubadde baboogerako nti ebikolwa byammwe bibi, basobole okulaba ebirungi bye mukola, balyoke bagulumize Katonda ku lunaku lw’alirabikirako.
13 Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether to the king, as supreme,
Ku lwa Mukama waffe, mugonderenga buli kiragiro ky’abo abali mu buyinza, oba kabaka alina obufuzi obw’oku ntikko,
14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.
oba abafuzi abalala b’atuma okubonerezanga abakola ebikolwa ebibi, era n’okusiimanga abo abakola ebikolwa ebirungi.
15 For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Kubanga Katonda asiima mukolenga ebirungi, mulyoke musirisenga abantu abasirusiru era abatalina kye bamanyi.
16 Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Mubenga ba ddembe, kyokka nga temulyesigamya ku kukola bitasaana, wabula mulikozese ng’abaweereza ba Katonda.
17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Mussengamu abantu bonna ekitiibwa, mwagalenga nnyo abooluganda. Mutyenga Katonda. Mussengamu ekitiibwa abafuzi.
18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
Abaddu, mugonderenga bakama bammwe, nga mubassaamu ekitiibwa ekijjuvu, si abo bokka abalungi n’abakwatampola naye n’abo abakambwe.
19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Kubanga kya mukisa omuntu bw’abonyaabonyezebwa awatali nsonga, n’agumiikiriza olw’okutuukiriza ekyo Katonda ky’ayagala.
20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Kale kitiibwa ki kye mufuna bwe mugumiikiriza mu kubonaabona olw’okukola ekibi? Naye Katonda abasiima bwe mugumiikiriza nga mubonyaabonyezebwa olw’okukola obulungi.
21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
Ekyo kye mwayitirwa kubanga ne Kristo yabonyaabonyezebwa ku lwammwe, n’abalekera ekyokulabirako kye musaana okugoberera.
22 who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
“Kristo teyakola kibi wadde okwogera ebyobukuusa.”
23 When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Bwe yavumibwa, ye teyavuma. Era abaamubonyaabonya teyabeewerera, wabula yeewaayo eri Katonda alamula awatali kusaliriza.
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Yesu Kristo yennyini yeetikka ebibi byaffe mu mubiri gwe bwe yatufiirira ku musaalaba, naffe tulyoke tufe eri ekibi, tube abalamu eri obutuukirivu. Olw’ebiwundu bye, muwonyezebbwa.
25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Kubanga mwali muwabye ng’endiga, naye kaakano mukomezebbwaawo eri Omusumba era alabirira obulamu bwammwe.
