< Psalms 122 >

1 A Song of Ascents. By David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to the LORD’s house!”
Canticum graduum. Lætatus sum in his, quæ dicta sunt mihi: In domum Domini ibimus.
2 Our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem!
Stantes erant pedes nostri, in atriis tuis Ierusalem.
3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together,
Ierusalem, quæ ædificatur ut civitas: cuius participatio eius in idipsum.
4 where the tribes go up, even the LORD’s tribes, according to an ordinance for Israel, to give thanks to the LORD’s name.
Illuc enim ascenderunt tribus, tribus Domini: testimonium Israel ad confitendum nomini Domini.
5 For there are set thrones for judgment, the thrones of David’s house.
Quia illic sederunt sedes in iudicio, sedes super domum David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.
Rogate quæ ad pacem sunt Ierusalem: et abundantia diligentibus te.
7 Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.
Fiat pax in virtute tua: et abundantia in turribus tuis.
8 For my brothers’ and companions’ sakes, I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
Propter fratres meos, et proximos meos, loquebar pacem de te:
9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.
Propter domum Domini Dei nostri, quæsivi bona tibi.
