Philemon 1
1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker,
Pau Gefangener Christi Jesu, und Timotheus, der Bruder, an Philemon, unseren geliebten Mitarbeiter,
2 to the beloved Apphia, to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the assembly in your house:
und an die Schwester Appia, an unseren Mitkämpfer Archippus und an die Gemeinde in deinem Hause.
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gnade werde euch zuteil und Friede von Gott, unserem Vater, und von dem Herrn Jesus Christus.
4 I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers,
Ich danke meinem Gott allezeit, sooft ich bei meinem Beten deiner gedenke,
5 hearing of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,
da ich höre, wie du Liebe und Glauben an den Herrn Jesus und für alle Heiligen hast.
6 that the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the knowledge of every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus.
Möchte doch dein Glaube, der uns gemeinsam ist, sich in der Tat bewähren auf Christus hin in richtiger Erkenntnis all des Guten, das unter uns vorhanden ist.
7 For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
Viel Freude und viel Trost habe ich aus deiner Liebe geschöpft; an dir, o Bruder, erquicken sich ja die Herzen der Heiligen.
8 Therefore though I have all boldness in Christ to command you that which is appropriate,
Nun hätte ich allerdings das volle Recht in Christus, dir zu befehlen, was du tun sollst.
9 yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you, being such a one as Paul, the aged, but also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Doch um der Liebe willen ziehe ich es vor zu bitten, so wie ich, der alte Paulus, nun einmal bin, dazu noch jetzt Gefesselter um Christi Jesu willen.
10 I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have become the father of in my chains,
Ich bitte dich für mein Kind, dem ich im Gefängnis das Leben gab, für den Onesimus.
11 who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.
Einst war er dir unnütz, doch jetzt ist er für dich und auch für mich von großem Nutzen.
12 I am sending him back. Therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,
Ich schicke ihn dir zurück; nimm ihn, oder besser mein Herz, wohl auf!
13 whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.
Gern hätte ich ihn bei mir zurückbehalten, damit er an deiner Statt mir Dienste leiste in meinen Banden für das Evangelium.
14 But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
Doch ohne deine Zustimmung wollte ich nichts tun, damit das Gute, das du tust, nicht erzwungen scheine, vielmehr freiwillig geschehe.
15 For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while that you would have him forever, (aiōnios g166)
Vielleicht hat er sich deshalb auf kurze Zeit von dir getrennt, damit du ihn auf ewig zurückerhieltest, (aiōnios g166)
16 no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
nicht mehr als Sklaven, sondern weit mehr als einen Sklaven, als einen vielgeliebten Bruder. Dies ist er mir vor allem; wieviel mehr wird er dir es sein als Mensch und auch als Christ.
17 If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
Wenn du dich mit mir einig fühlst, so nimm ihn auf wie mich.
18 But if he has wronged you at all or owes you anything, put that to my account.
Doch brachte er dich in Schaden oder schuldet er dir noch etwas, so setze dies mir auf die Rechnung.
19 I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides).
Ich, Paulus, gebe es dir mit eigener Hand schriftlich: Ich werde es bezahlen. Davon allerdings will ich nicht reden, daß du sogar dich selbst mir schuldest.
20 Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.
Lieber Bruder: Ich möchte im Herrn ein Nutzungsrecht an deiner Person ausüben; bereite in Christus meinem Herzen eine Freude!
21 Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.
Auf dein Entgegenkommen fest vertrauend, schreibe ich dir; ich weiß, du tust noch mehr als ich verlange.
22 Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.
Bereite mir zugleich ein Gastzimmer; habe ich doch die Hoffnung, daß ich dank eurer Gebete euch geschenkt werde.
23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you,
Es grüßen dich Epaphras, mein Mitgefangener in Christus Jesus,
24 as do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.
und Markus, Aristarch, Demas und Lukas, meine Mitarbeiter.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
Die Gnade des Herrn Jesus Christus sei mit eurem Geiste! Amen.
