Matthew 14
1 At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
| وقتی هیرودیس، فرمانروای جلیل، دربارۀ عیسی شنید، |
2 and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”
| به مشاوران خود گفت: «بی‌شک، این همان یحیای تعمیددهنده است که زنده شده، و به همین دلیل است که می‌تواند چنین معجزاتی انجام دهد.» |
3 For Herod had arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.
| زیرا هیرودیس، به خاطر هیرودیا، که زن برادرش فیلیپ بود، یحیی را گرفته و در زندان به زنجیر کشیده بود، |
4 For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”
| به این علّت که یحیی به هیرودیس می‌گفت: «ازدواج با زن برادرت برخلاف شریعت است.» |
5 When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
| هیرودیس نیز قصد داشت یحیی را بکشد، اما از شورش مردم می‌ترسید، چون او را نبی می‌دانستند. |
6 But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
| اما در جشن ولادت هیرودیس، دختر هیرودیا رقصی اجرا کرد که بسیار باعث شادی هیرودیس شد، |
7 Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
| به‌طوری که برای او قسم خورد که هر چه بخواهد، به او بدهد. |
8 She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”
| دختر هیرودیا نیز به تحریک مادرش، گفت: «سرِ یحیای تعمیددهنده را در همین جا روی یک طَبَق به من بده.» |
9 The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
| پادشاه از گفتۀ خود پشیمان شد، اما چون در حضور میهمانانش قسم خورده بود، دستور داد درخواست او را به‌جا آورند. |
10 and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
| پس در زندان، سر یحیی را از تن جدا کرده، |
11 His head was brought on a platter and given to the young lady; and she brought it to her mother.
| در یک طَبَق آوردند و تقدیم دختر کردند، دختر نیز آن را نزد مادرش برد. |
12 His disciples came, took the body, and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.
| آنگاه شاگردان یحیی آمدند و بدن او را برده، به خاک سپردند. سپس نزد عیسی رفته، جریان را به او اطلاع دادند. |
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
| وقتی عیسی از این امر آگاهی یافت، سوار قایقی شد و به جای دورافتاده‌ای رفت تا تنها باشد. اما مردم که مطلع شدند عیسی به کدام سَمت می‌رود، از شهرهای بسیار با پای پیاده به آن سو روانه شدند. |
14 Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
| وقتی عیسی از قایق پیاده شد، جمعیتی انبوه را دید، و دلش به حال ایشان سوخت و بیمارانی را که در میان جمعیت بودند، شفا بخشید. |
15 When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”
| نزدیک غروب، شاگردان نزد او آمدند و گفتند: «در این جای دور افتاده، چیزی برای خوردن پیدا نمی‌شود. هوا نیز رو به تاریکی می‌رود. پس به مردم بگو به دهات اطراف بروند و برای خود خوراک تهیه کنند.» |
16 But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
| اما عیسی فرمود: «لازم نیست بروند. خودتان به ایشان خوراک دهید.» |
17 They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”
| پاسخ دادند: «ما به‌جز پنج نان و دو ماهی، چیز دیگری نداریم!» |
18 He said, “Bring them here to me.”
| عیسی فرمود: «آنها را نزد من بیاورید!» |
19 He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
| سپس به مردم گفت که بر روی سبزه‌ها بنشینند. آنگاه پنج نان و دو ماهی را برداشت و به سوی آسمان نگاه کرده، برکت داد. سپس نانها را تکه‌تکه کرد و به شاگردانش داد تا به مردم بدهند. |
20 They all ate and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
| همه خوردند و سیر شدند و شاگردان از خُرده‌های باقی‌مانده، دوازده سبد پر برداشتند. |
21 Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.
| تعداد کسانی که در آن روز غذا دریافت کردند، به‌جز زنان و کودکان، حدود پنج هزار مرد بود. |
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
| بلافاصله پس از آن، عیسی با اصرار، از شاگردانش خواست تا سوار قایق شوند و به آن طرف دریاچه بروند، و خودش مردم را مرخص کرد. |
23 After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
| پس از آن، به تنهایی به کوه رفت تا دعا کند. شب فرا رسید و او هنوز در آنجا تنها بود. |
24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
| در این هنگام، شاگردان که از ساحل خیلی دور شده بودند، در دریاچه گرفتار امواج شدند، زیرا بادِ تندی می‌وزید و ایشان با امواج دست و پنجه نرم می‌کردند. |
25 In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.
| اما نزدیک ساعت سه صبح، عیسی در حالی که روی آب راه می‌رفت، به آنها نزدیک شد. |
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.
| ایشان وقتی او را در حال راه رفتن روی آب دیدند، وحشت‌زده شدند و از ترس، فریاد برآوردند که «این شَبَح است». |
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”
| اما عیسی بی‌درنگ ایشان را صدا زده، گفت: «قوی باشید! نترسید! منم!» |
28 Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”
| پطرس در جواب گفت: «سَروَرم، اگر خودت هستی، بگو تا من هم روی آب راه بروم و نزدت بیایم.» |
29 He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.
| عیسی فرمود: «بسیار خوب، بیا!» پطرس از قایق بیرون آمد و روی آب راه افتاده، به طرف عیسی رفت. |
30 But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
| اما وقتی به اطراف نگاه کرد و باد را دید، به وحشت افتاد و شروع کرد به فرو رفتن در آب. پس فریاد زد: «سَروَرَم، نجاتم ده!» |
31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
| عیسی بلافاصله دست خود را دراز کرد و او را گرفت و فرمود: «ای کم‌ایمان، چرا شک کردی؟» |
32 When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
| وقتی سوار قایق شدند، باد از وزیدن بازایستاد. |
33 Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”
| سپس آنانی که در قایق بودند، او را پرستش کرده، حیرت‌زده گفتند: «واقعاً که تو پسر خدا هستی.» |
34 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
| وقتی به آن سوی دریاچه رسیدند، در ساحل جنیسارت از قایق پیاده شدند. |
35 When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region and brought to him all who were sick;
| چون مردم عیسی را شناختند، خبر ورودش را به‌سرعت در تمام منطقه پخش کردند، و دیری نگذشت که مردم بیماران خود را آوردند تا شفا یابند. |
36 and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.
| آنها به او التماس می‌کردند تا به بیماران اجازه دهد فقط به لبۀ ردایش دست بزنند؛ و هر که به او دست می‌زد، شفا می‌یافت. |
