< Job 14 >
1 “Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble.
“Mũndũ ũciarĩtwo nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja-rĩ, aikaraga o matukũ manini, namo makaiyũrwo nĩ mathĩĩna.
2 He grows up like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn’t continue.
Akũraga ta ihũa na agacooka akooma; ahĩtũkaga na ihenya ta kĩĩruru, na ndatũũraga.
3 Do you open your eyes on such a one, and bring me into judgment with you?
Mũndũ ta ũcio wakĩmũkũũrĩra maitho? Mũndũ ta ũcio wamũrehe mbere yaku aciirithio?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.
Nũũ ũngĩhota kũruta kĩndũ gĩtheru kuuma harĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩa gĩtarĩ gĩtheru? Gũtirĩ o na ũmwe!
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass.
Matukũ ma mũndũ nĩ matare; nĩũtuĩte mũigana wa mĩeri yake, na nĩũmũigĩire mĩhaka ĩrĩa ataangĩkĩra.
6 Look away from him, that he may rest, until he accomplishes, as a hireling, his day.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio tiga kũmũrora, tigana nake, nginya arĩĩkie mĩthenya yake ta mũthũkũmi.
7 “For there is hope for a tree if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, that the tender branch of it will not cease.
“Mũtĩ-rĩ, nĩwĩrĩgagĩrĩrwo atĩ ũngĩtemwo, no ũthethũke rĩngĩ, na atĩ mathethũka maguo matikaaga.
8 Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stock dies in the ground,
O na mĩri yaguo ĩngĩkũrĩra thĩ na gĩthukĩ kĩaguo kĩũmĩre tĩĩri-inĩ,
9 yet through the scent of water it will bud, and sprout boughs like a plant.
ũngĩkaguucia maaĩ-rĩ, nĩũgathethũka na ũrute honge ta mũtĩ wa kũhaandwo.
10 But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?
No mũndũ akuuaga agathikwo; aatuĩkana-rĩ, ndacookaga kuonwo rĩngĩ.
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up,
O ta ũrĩa maaĩ mahũũaga kũu iria-inĩ, na ta ũrĩa mũtaro wa rũũĩ ũngʼaraga ũkooma-rĩ,
12 so man lies down and doesn’t rise. Until the heavens are no more, they will not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.
ũguo noguo mũndũ akomaga na ndacookaga gũũkĩra rĩngĩ; o nginya rĩrĩa igũrũ rĩgaathira-rĩ, andũ matirĩ hĩndĩ magookĩra kana maarahũrwo mookĩre.
13 “Oh that you would hide me in Sheol, that you would keep me secret until your wrath is past, that you would appoint me a set time and remember me! (Sheol )
“Naarĩ korwo wahitha thĩinĩ wa mbĩrĩra, na ũnjige hitho-inĩ nginya rĩrĩa marakara maku magaathira! Naarĩ korwo wanduĩra gĩathĩ, ũgaacooka kũndirikana hĩndĩ ĩyo. (Sheol )
14 If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come.
Mũndũ akua-rĩ, nĩagatũũra muoyo rĩngĩ? Matukũ makwa mothe ma wĩra mũritũ-rĩ, ngweterera ihinda rĩakwa rĩa kwerũhĩrio hinya rĩkinye.
15 You would call, and I would answer you. You would have a desire for the work of your hands.
Wee ũgetana, na niĩ nĩngagwĩtĩka; na nĩũkeerirĩria kĩũmbe gĩkĩ wombire na moko maku.
16 But now you count my steps. Don’t you watch over my sin?
Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩũgatara makinya makwa, no ndũkarũmbũiya mehia makwa.
17 My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. You fasten up my iniquity.
Mahĩtia makwa meekĩrĩtwo mondo-inĩ, ĩkoohwo na ĩkahũũrwo mũhũũri; nĩũkahumbĩra mehia makwa.
18 “But the mountain falling comes to nothing. The rock is removed out of its place.
“No rĩrĩ, o ta ũrĩa kĩrĩma kĩenjekaga na gĩkamomoka, na o ta ũrĩa rwaro rwa ihiga rũeheragio handũ ha ruo,
19 The waters wear the stones. The torrents of it wash away the dust of the earth. So you destroy the hope of man.
na o ta ũrĩa maaĩ mamuthũraga mahiga, na o ta ũrĩa mbura nene ĩtwaraga tĩĩri-rĩ, ũguo noguo wanangaga kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro kĩa mũndũ.
20 You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.
Wee ũmũtooragia o rĩmwe rĩa kũigana, nake agathira; ũgarũraga gĩthiithi gĩake ũrĩa kĩhaana, na ũkamũingata.
21 His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them.
Ariũ ake mangĩheo gĩtĩĩo, ndangĩmenya ũhoro ũcio; mangĩconorithio, we ndoonaga ũndũ ũcio.
22 But his flesh on him has pain, and his soul within him mourns.”
We no ruo rwa mwĩrĩ wake aiguaga, nake atũũraga o ecaayagĩra.”
