2 Chronicles 32

1 After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.

൧യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ ഈവിധമായ വിശ്വസ്തപ്രവൃത്തികൾ പൂർത്തിയായപ്പോൾ അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് യെഹൂദയിൽ കടന്നു; ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കെതിരെ പാളയമിറങ്ങി. അവ ജയിച്ചടക്കാം എന്ന് വിചാരിച്ചു.

2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was planning to fight against Jerusalem,

൨സൻഹേരീബ് യെരൂശലേമിനെ ആക്രമിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് കണ്ടിട്ട്

3 he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.

൩പട്ടണത്തിന് പുറത്തേക്ക് ഒഴുകുന്ന നീരുറവുകളിലെ വെള്ളം തടയേണ്ടതിന് തന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും യുദ്ധവീരന്മാരോടും ആലോചിച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ സഹായിച്ചു.

4 Then many people gathered together and they stopped all the springs and the brook that flowed through the middle of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find abundant water?”

൪അങ്ങനെ വളരെ ജനം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; “അശ്ശൂർരാജാക്കന്മാർ വന്ന് ധാരാളം വെള്ളം കാണുന്നത് എന്തിന്” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് എല്ലാ ഉറവുകളും ദേശത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽകൂടി ഒഴുകിയ തോടും അടച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

5 He took courage, built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, with the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in David’s city, and made weapons and shields in abundance.

൫അവൻ ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ട്, ഇടിഞ്ഞുപോയ മതിലുകൾ ഗോപുരങ്ങളോളം പണിതു. പുറത്ത് വേറൊരു മതിലും കെട്ടിപ്പൊക്കി. ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിലെ മില്ലോവിന്റെ കേടുപാടുകൾ പോക്കി, നിരവധി ആയുധങ്ങളും പരിചകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

6 He set captains of war over the people, gathered them together to him in the wide place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

൬അവൻ ജനത്തിന്മേൽ പടനായകന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു. അവരെ നഗരവാതില്‍ക്കലുള്ള വിശാലസ്ഥലത്ത് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തി സംസാരിച്ചത്:

7 “Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him.

൭“ഉറപ്പും ധൈര്യവും ഉള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിൻ; അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിനെയും അവനോട് കൂടെയുള്ള പുരുഷാരത്തെയും കണ്ട് ഭയപ്പെടുകയോ ഭ്രമിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്; അവനോടുകൂടെയുള്ളതിലും വലിയവൻ നമ്മോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ട്.

8 An arm of flesh is with him, but the LORD our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

൮അവനോടുകൂടെ മാനുഷ ഭുജമേയുള്ളു; നമ്മോടുകൂടെയോ നമ്മെ സഹായിപ്പാനും നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധങ്ങൾ നടത്തുവാനും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഉണ്ട്” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു; യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ജനത്തെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തി.

9 After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was attacking Lachish, and all his forces were with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

൯അനന്തരം അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് - അവനും അവന്റെ സൈന്യവും ലാഖീശ് പട്ടണം നിരോധിച്ചിരുന്നു - തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെയും യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലയെഹൂദ്യരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ അയച്ച് പറയിച്ചത് എന്തെന്നാൽ:

10 Sennacherib king of Assyria says, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?

൧൦“അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: ‘യെരൂശലേം നഗരം നിരോധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്തൊന്നിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു?

11 Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria’?

൧൧‘നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മെ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിക്കും’ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് വിശപ്പും ദാഹവും കൊണ്ട് മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് നിങ്ങളെ വശീകരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

12 Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and you shall burn incense on it’?

൧൨അശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികളും യാഗപീഠങ്ങളും നീക്കിക്കളകയും യെഹൂദയോടും യെരൂശലേമിനോടും നിങ്ങൾ ഒരേ പീഠത്തിന് മുമ്പിൽ നമസ്കരിച്ച് അതിന്മേൽ ധൂപം കാട്ടണം എന്ന് കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തത് ഈ യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് തന്നെയല്ലെ?

13 Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?

൧൩ഞാനും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും മറ്റ് ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലജനതകളോടും എന്ത് ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ ജനതകളുടെ ദേവന്മാർക്ക് തങ്ങളുടെ ദേശങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞുവോ?

14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?

൧൪എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തിയ ജനതകളുടെ ദേവന്മാരിൽ ഒരുവനും തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാതിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന് നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിയുമോ?

15 Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”

൧൫ആകയാൽ യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് നിങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കയും, വശീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യരുത്; നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അരുത്; ഏതെങ്കിലും ജനതയുടെയോ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെയോ ദേവന് തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെയൊ, എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെയൊ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിപ്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ല; പിന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിക്കുന്നത് എങ്ങനെ?”

16 His servants spoke yet more against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.

൧൬കൂടാതെ അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ യഹോവയായ ദൈവത്തിനും അവന്റെ ദാസനായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിനും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു.

17 He also wrote letters insulting the LORD, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

൧൭“മറ്റു ദേശങ്ങളിലെ ജനതകളുടെ ദേവന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിക്കാതിരുന്നതുപോലെ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ ദൈവവും തന്റെ ജനത്തെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്ന് വിടുവിക്കയില്ല” എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിന്ദിച്ച് അവന് വിരോധമായി കത്തുകളും എഴുതി അയച്ചു.

18 They called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they might take the city.

൧൮പട്ടണം പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ മതിലിന്മേൽ പാർത്ത ജനത്തെ പേടിപ്പിച്ച് ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ യെഹൂദ്യഭാഷയിൽ അവരോട് ഉറച്ച ശബ്ബത്തിൽ വിളിച്ച്,

19 They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

൧൯മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈപ്പണിയായ ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാരെക്കുറിച്ചെന്നപോലെ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ചു.

20 Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.

൨൦ഇതു നിമിത്തം യെഹിസ്കീയാ രാജാവും ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാ പ്രവാചകനും പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ച് സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്ക് നോക്കി നിലവിളിച്ചു.

21 The LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body killed him there with the sword.

൨൧അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു; അവൻ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ പാളയത്തിലെ സകല പരാക്രമശാലികളെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും സേനാപതികളെയും സംഹരിച്ചു; അതിനാൽ അവൻ ലജ്ജകൊണ്ട് മുഖം കുനിച്ച് സ്വദേശത്തേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകേണ്ടിവന്നു; അവൻ തന്റെ ദേവന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ചിലർ അവനെ അവിടെവെച്ച് വാൾകൊണ്ട് കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

22 Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

൨൨ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ യെഹിസ്കീയാവെയും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളെയും അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും മറ്റെല്ലാവരുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ച് അവർക്ക് ചുറ്റിലും വിശ്രമം നല്കി;

23 Many brought gifts to the LORD to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from then on.

൨൩പലരും യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് കാഴ്ചകളും യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന് സമ്മാനങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവൻ അന്നുമുതൽ സകലജാതികളുടെയും ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ഉന്നതനായിത്തീർന്നു.

24 In those days Hezekiah was terminally ill, and he prayed to the LORD; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.

൨൪ആ കാലത്ത് യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന് മരണകരമായ ദീനംപിടിച്ചു; അവൻ യഹോവയോട് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു; അതിന് അവൻ ഉത്തരം അരുളി ഒരു അടയാളവും കൊടുത്തു.

25 But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.

൨൫എന്നാൽ യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് തനിക്ക് ലഭിച്ച ഉപകാരത്തിന് തക്കവണ്ണം നടക്കാതെ നിഗളിച്ചുപോയി; അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെമേലും യെഹൂദയുടെമേലും യെരൂശലേമിന്മേലും ദൈവകോപം ഉണ്ടായി.

26 However, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the LORD’s wrath didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.

൨൬എന്നാൽ തങ്ങളുടെ ഗർവ്വത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് യെഹിസ്കീയാവും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളും അനുതപിക്കയും തങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ താഴ്ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു; അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്ത് അവരുടെ മേൽ വന്നില്ല.

27 Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honor. He provided himself with treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of valuable vessels;

൨൭യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന് വളരെയധികം ധനവും മാനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ വെള്ളി, പൊന്ന്, രത്നം, സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗം, പരിച സകലവിധ മനോഹരമായ ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവയ്ക്കായി ഭണ്ഡാരഗൃഹങ്ങളും

28 also storehouses for the increase of grain, new wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.

൨൮ധാന്യം, വീഞ്ഞ്, എണ്ണ എന്നിവക്കായി സംഭരണ ശാലകളും, സകലവിധ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്കും തൊഴുത്തുകളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

29 Moreover he provided for himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him abundant possessions.

൨൯ദൈവം അവന് വളരെ സമ്പത്ത് കൊടുത്തിരുന്നതു കൊണ്ട് അവൻ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും ആടുമാടുകളെയും വളരെ സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

30 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of David’s city. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

൩൦ഈ യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് തന്നെയത്രെ ഗീഹോൻ വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ മേലത്തെ ഒഴുക്ക് തടഞ്ഞ് ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ ഭാഗത്ത് തുരങ്കത്തിലൂടെ താഴോട്ട് വരുത്തിയത്. അങ്ങനെ യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് തന്റെ സകലപ്രവർത്തികളിലും കൃതാർത്ഥനായിരുന്നു.

31 However, concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

൩൧എങ്കിലും ദേശത്തിൽ സംഭവിച്ചിരുന്ന അതിശയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ബാബേൽ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ച ദൂതന്മാരുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയ രഹസ്യങ്ങൾ വെളിപ്പെടുത്താൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ദൈവം അവനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.

32 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

൩൨യെഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റ് വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ സൽപ്രവൃത്തികളും ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ ദർശനത്തിലും യെഹൂദയിലെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിലും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

33 Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

൩൩യെഹിസ്കീയാവ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളുടെ മേൽ നിരയിൽ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മരണസമയത്ത് എല്ലാ യെഹൂദയും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളും അവനെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചു. അവന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെ അവന് പകരം രാജാവായി.
