Psalms 2

1 Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

D'où vient que les nations ont frémi et que les peuples ont médité de vains complots?

2 The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his Anointed, saying,

Les rois de la terre se sont levés, et les chefs se sont réunis ensemble contre le Seigneur et contre son Christ; (Interlude)

3 “Let’s break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us.”

Rompons leurs liens, rejetons loin de nous leur joug.

4 He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.

Celui qui habite aux cieux s'en rira, et le Seigneur se moquera d'eux.

5 Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath:

Alors il leur parlera dans sa colère; et il les troublera dans sa fureur.

6 “Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.”

Mais moi, il m'a institué roi de Sion, sa sainte montagne,

7 I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my son. Today I have become your father.

Et j'annonce les préceptes du Seigneur. Le Seigneur m'a dit: Tu es mon fils; aujourd'hui je t'ai engendré.

8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.

Demande-moi, et je te donnerai les nations pour héritage, et pour ta possession les limites de la terre.

9 You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

Tu les gouverneras avec une verge de fer; tu les briseras comme un vaisseau d'argile.

10 Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

Et maintenant, rois, comprenez; instruisez-vous, juges de la terre.

11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Servez le Seigneur avec crainte, et réjouissez-vous en lui avec tremblement.

12 Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish on the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

Embrassez sa discipline, de peur que le Seigneur ne s'irrite, et que vous ne périssiez hors de la voie juste. Lorsque soudain s'enflammera sa colère, heureux sont ceux qui ont confiance en lui!
