< Job 34 >

1 Moreover Elihu answered,
Ningĩ Elihu akiuga atĩrĩ:
2 “Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.
“Iguai ciugo ciakwa, inyuĩ andũ aya oogĩ; thikĩrĩriai, inyuĩ amenyi a maũndũ.
3 For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.
Nĩgũkorwo gũtũ gũthuuranagia ciugo o ta ũrĩa rũrĩmĩ rũcamaga irio.
4 Let us choose for us that which is right. Let us know amongst ourselves what is good.
Nĩtwĩkũũranĩrei ithuĩ ene ũndũ ũrĩa wagĩrĩire; nĩtwĩrute tũrĩ hamwe ũndũ ũrĩa mwega.
5 For Job has said, ‘I am righteous, God has taken away my right.
“Ayubu aroiga atĩrĩ, ‘Niĩ ndihĩtĩtie, no Mũrungu nĩanjagithĩtie kĩhooto gĩakwa.
6 Notwithstanding my right I am considered a liar. My wound is incurable, though I am without disobedience.’
O na gũtuĩka ndĩraria ũrĩa kũrĩ, ndĩratuuo mũheenania; o na gũtuĩka ndirĩ na mahĩtia, mũguĩ wake ũngurarĩtie kĩronda gĩtangĩhona.’
7 What man is like Job, who drinks scorn like water,
Nĩ mũndũ ũrĩkũ ũhaana ta Ayubu, mũndũ ũnyuuaga kĩnyũrũri taarĩ maaĩ aranyua?
8 who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men?
Atwaranaga na andũ arĩa mekaga ũũru; agĩĩaga thiritũ na andũ arĩa aaganu.
9 For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.’
Nĩgũkorwo oigaga atĩrĩ, ‘Gũtirĩ uumithio mũndũ onaga rĩrĩa arageria gũkenia Ngai.’
10 “Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
“Nĩ ũndũ ũcio gĩĩthikĩrĩriei, inyuĩ andũ aya mũrĩ na ũtaũku. Ũhoro wa kwĩhia ũroaga kuoneka harĩ Mũrungu, Mwene-Hinya-Wothe aroaga gwĩka ũũru.
11 For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
Arĩhaga mũndũ kũringana na ũrĩa ekĩte; akamũrehere o kĩrĩa kĩringaine na mĩthiĩre yake.
12 Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
Gũtingĩhoteka atĩ Mũrungu no eeke mahĩtia, atĩ ũrĩa Mwene-Hinya-Wothe no ogomie kĩhooto.
13 Who put him in charge of the earth? Or who has appointed him over the whole world?
Nũũ wamũtuire mũrori wa thĩ? Nũũ wamũtuire mũrũgamĩrĩri wa thĩ yothe?
14 If he set his heart on himself, if he gathered to himself his spirit and his breath,
Korwo aagĩa na muoroto wa kweheria roho wake na mĩhũmũ-rĩ,
15 all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust.
andũ othe mangĩthiranĩra hamwe, nake mũndũ acooke rũkũngũ-inĩ.
16 “If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.
“Akorwo ũrĩ mũndũ ũrĩ na ũtaũku-rĩ, igua ũhoro ũyũ; thikĩrĩria ũrĩa nguuga.
17 Should even one who hates justice govern? Will you condemn him who is righteous and mighty,
Mũndũ ũthũire kĩhooto-rĩ, no ahote gwathana? Ũrĩa ũrĩ kĩhooto, o Ũcio kĩhoti-rĩ, no ũmũtue mwĩhia?
18 who says to a king, ‘Vile!’ or to nobles, ‘Wicked!’?
Githĩ ti we wĩraga athamaki atĩrĩ, ‘Inyuĩ mũtirĩ kĩene,’ na akeera arĩa marĩ igweta atĩrĩ, ‘Inyuĩ mũrĩ aaganu,’
19 He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands.
o ũcio ũtatĩagĩra anene maũthĩ, na ndendaga arĩa atongu gũkĩra arĩa athĩĩni, nĩgũkorwo othe nĩ wĩra wa moko make?
20 In a moment they die, even at midnight. The people are shaken and pass away. The mighty are taken away without a hand.
Makuuaga o rĩmwe, o ũtukũ gatagatĩ; andũ mainainaga magakua; arĩa marĩ hinya meeheragio matahutĩtio nĩ guoko kwa mũndũ.
21 “For his eyes are on the ways of a man. He sees all his goings.
“Maitho make maikaraga macũthĩrĩirie mĩthiĩre ya andũ; nĩonaga mĩthiĩre yao yothe.
22 There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Gũtirĩ handũ harĩ nduma, kana handũ harĩ kĩĩruru kĩnene, hangĩĩhithwo nĩ arĩa meekaga ũũru.
23 For he doesn’t need to consider a man further, that he should go before God in judgement.
Mũrungu ndabatairio nĩgũthuthuuria ndeto cia andũ makĩria, atĩ nĩguo moke mbere yake maciirithio.
24 He breaks mighty men in pieces in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place.
Ahehenjaga arĩa marĩ ũhoti atekũũria mũndũ na akarũgamia andũ angĩ ithenya rĩao.
25 Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
Tondũ we nĩamenyaga maũndũ marĩa meekaga, amangʼaũranagia ũtukũ magathuthĩka.
26 He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
Amaherithagĩria waganu wao makĩonagwo nĩ mũndũ o wothe,
27 because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,
tondũ nĩmagarũrũkire magĩtiga kũmũrũmĩrĩra, na matirũmbũyagia njĩra yake o na ĩrĩkũ.
28 so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.
Nĩmatũmire kĩrĩro kĩa arĩa athĩĩni gĩkinye hau mbere yake, nĩ ũndũ ũcio akĩigua kĩrĩro kĩa arĩa abatari.
29 When he gives quietness, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? He is over a nation or a man alike,
No rĩrĩ, angĩikara akirĩte-rĩ, nũũ ũngĩmũtua muhĩtia? Angĩhitha ũthiũ wake-rĩ, nũũ ũngĩmuona? Nowe arĩ igũrũ rĩa mũndũ na igũrũ rĩa rũrĩrĩ o ũndũ ũmwe,
30 that the godless man may not reign, that there be no one to ensnare the people.
nĩguo agirie mũndũ ũtarĩ na ũngai gwathana, amũgirie kũigĩra kĩrĩndĩ mĩtego.
31 “For has any said to God, ‘I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.
“Korwo mũndũ no ere Mũrungu atĩrĩ, ‘Nĩnjĩhĩtie no ndikehia rĩngĩ.
32 Teach me that which I don’t see. If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?
Nduta menye ũrĩa itarahota kuona; ingĩkorwo nĩnjĩkĩte ũũru-rĩ, ndigacooka gwĩka ũguo rĩngĩ.’
33 Shall his recompense be as you desire, that you refuse it? For you must choose, and not I. Therefore speak what you know.
Ngai-rĩ, no agĩkũrĩhe kũringana na ũrĩa wee ũkwenda rĩrĩa ũregete kwĩrira? No nginya we ũtue itua, no ti niĩ; nĩ ũndũ ũcio kĩnjĩĩre ũrĩa ũũĩ.
34 Men of understanding will tell me, yes, every wise man who hears me:
“Andũ arĩa marĩ na ũtaũku maroiga atĩrĩ, nao andũ acio oogĩ maiguĩte ngĩaria manjĩĩrĩte atĩrĩ,
35 ‘Job speaks without knowledge. His words are without wisdom.’
‘Ayubu aaragia atarĩ na ũmenyo; ciugo ciake nĩciagĩte ũũgĩ.’
36 I wish that Job were tried to the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
Hĩ, naarĩ korwo Ayubu aagerio nginya mũthia, nĩ ũndũ macookio make nĩ ta ma mũndũ mwaganu!
37 For he adds rebellion to his sin. He claps his hands amongst us, and multiplies his words against God.”
Nĩongereire ũremi harĩ mehia make; atũhũũragĩra hĩ cia kĩnyũrũri, na akaingĩhia ciugo ciake cia gũũkĩrĩra Mũrungu.”
