Jeremiah 14
1 This is the LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:
౧కరువు గురించి యెహోవా యిర్మీయాకు ఇలా చెప్పాడు,
2 “Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.
౨“యూదా రోదించాలి. దాని ద్వారాలు పడిపోవాలి. వాళ్ళు భూమి కోసం ఏడుస్తున్నారు. యెరూషలేము కోసం వాళ్ళు చేస్తున్న రోదన పైకి వెళ్తూ ఉంది.
3 Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
౩వాళ్ళ నాయకులు తమ పనివాళ్ళను నీళ్ల కోసం పంపుతారు. వాళ్ళు బావుల దగ్గరికి పోతే నీళ్లుండవు. ఖాళీ కుండలతో వాళ్ళు తిరిగి వస్తారు. సిగ్గుతో అవమానంతో తమ తలలు కప్పుకుంటారు.
4 Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the ploughmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.
౪దేశంలో వాన రాకపోవడంతో నేల బీటలు వారింది. రైతులు సిగ్గుతో తమ తలలు కప్పుకుంటున్నారు.
5 Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
౫గడ్డి లేకపోవడంతో లేడి కూడా తన పిల్లలను పొలాల్లో వదిలేస్తున్నది.
6 The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.
౬అడవి గాడిదలు చెట్లులేని మెట్టల మీద నిలబడి నక్కల్లాగా రొప్పుతున్నాయి. మేత లేక వాటి కళ్ళు పీక్కుపోతున్నాయి.”
7 Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, LORD; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.
౭యెహోవా, మా అపరాధాలు మా మీద నేరారోపణ చేస్తున్నప్పటికీ, నీ నామం కోసం కార్యం జరిగించు. చాలాసార్లు దారి తప్పాం. నీకు విరోధంగా మేము పాపం చేశాం.
8 You hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
౮ఇశ్రాయేలు ఆశ్రయమా! కష్టకాలంలో వారిని రక్షించేవాడివి. దేశంలో నువ్వెందుకు పరాయివాడిగా ఉన్నావు? ఒక్క రాత్రే బస చేసే బాటసారిలా ఎందుకు ఉన్నావు?
9 Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, LORD, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.
౯కలవరపడిన వాడిలా, ఎవరినీ కాపాడలేని శూరునిలా నువ్వెందుకున్నావు? యెహోవా, నువ్వు మా మధ్య ఉన్నావు! నీ పేరు మా మీద నిలిచి ఉంది. మమ్మల్ని విడిచి పెట్టవద్దు.
10 The LORD says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”
౧౦యెహోవా ఈ ప్రజలను గురించి ఇలా చెబుతున్నాడు. “తిరుగులాడడం అంటే వాళ్ళకెంతో ఇష్టం. వాళ్ళు తమ కాళ్లను అదుపులో ఉంచుకోవడం లేదు.” యెహోవా వారిపట్ల ఇష్టంగా లేడు. ఇప్పుడు ఆయన వారి అక్రమాన్ని గుర్తుకు తెచ్చుకుని వారి పాపాలను బట్టి వారిని శిక్షించాడు.
11 The LORD said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.
౧౧అప్పుడు యెహోవా నాతో ఇలా చెప్పాడు. “ఈ ప్రజల మేలు కోసం ప్రార్థన చేయవద్దు.
12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”
౧౨వాళ్ళు ఉపవాసమున్నప్పటికీ నేను వారి మొర వినను. వాళ్ళు దహనబలులూ నైవేద్యాలూ అర్పించినా నేను వాటిని అంగీకరించను. కత్తితో, కరువుతో, అంటువ్యాధులతో వారిని నాశనం చేస్తాను.”
13 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
౧౩అందుకు నేనిలా అన్నాను “అయ్యో, యెహోవా ప్రభూ! ‘మీరు కత్తి చూడరు. మీకు కరువు రాదు. ఈ స్థలంలో నేను స్థిరమైన భద్రత మీకిస్తాను’ అని ప్రవక్తలు వాళ్ళతో ఇలా చెబుతున్నారు.”
14 Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
౧౪అప్పుడు యెహోవా నాతో ఇలా అన్నాడు. “ప్రవక్తలు నా పేరున అబద్ధాలు ప్రకటిస్తున్నారు. నేను వాళ్ళను పంపలేదు. వాళ్ళకు ఎలాంటి ఆజ్ఞా ఇవ్వలేదు. వాళ్ళతో మాట్లాడలేదు. అయితే వాళ్ళ హృదయాల్లోనుంచి మోసపూరితమైన దర్శనాలూ పనికిమాలిన, మోసపు శకునాలూ వస్తున్నాయి. వీటినే వాళ్ళు మీకు ప్రవచిస్తున్నారు.
15 Therefore the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.
౧౫అందుచేత యెహోవా అనే నేను చెబుతున్నది ఏమంటే, నేను వాళ్ళను పంపకపోయినా, నా పేరును బట్టి కత్తిగానీ కరువుగానీ ఈ దేశంలోకి రాదు అని చెబుతున్నారు. ఆ ప్రవక్తలు కత్తితో కరువుతో నాశనమవుతారు.”
16 The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.
౧౬“వాళ్ళెవరితో అలాంటి ప్రవచనాలు చెబుతారో ఆ ప్రజలు కరువుకూ కత్తికీ గురై, యెరూషలేము వీధుల్లో కూలుతారు. నేను వాళ్ళ దుర్మార్గాన్ని వాళ్ళ మీదికి రప్పిస్తాను. వాళ్ళనూ వాళ్ళ భార్యలనూ వాళ్ళ కొడుకులనూ కూతుళ్ళనూ పాతిపెట్టడానికి ఎవడూ ఉండడు.”
17 “You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
౧౭“నువ్వు వాళ్ళతో ఈ మాటలు చెప్పు, కన్య అయిన నా ప్రజల కూతురు ఘోరంగా పతనమవుతుంది. అది మానని పెద్ద గాయం పాలవుతుంది. రాత్రి, పగలు నా కళ్ళ నుంచి కన్నీళ్లు కారనివ్వండి.
18 If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”
౧౮పొలంలోకి వెళ్లి చూసినప్పుడు కత్తితో చచ్చిన వాళ్ళు కనిపిస్తున్నారు. పట్టణంలోకి వెళ్లి చూస్తే కరువుతో అలమటించే వాళ్ళు కనిపిస్తున్నారు. ప్రవక్తలూ యాజకులూ తెలివిలేక తిరుగుతున్నారు.”
19 Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
౧౯నువ్వు యూదాను పూర్తిగా వదిలేశావా? సీయోను అంటే నీకు అసహ్యమా? మేము కోలుకోలేనంతగా నువ్వు మమ్మల్ని ఎందుకు కొట్టావు? మేము శాంతి కోసం ఆశించాం గానీ మేలు కలిగించేది ఏదీ రాలేదు. కోలుకునేలా ఎదురు చూశాం గానీ చుట్టూ భయానక దృశ్యాలే.
20 We acknowledge, LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
౨౦యెహోవా, మేము నీకు విరోధంగా పాపం చేశాం. మా దుర్మార్గాన్నీ మా పూర్వీకుల దోషాన్నీ మేము ఒప్పుకుంటున్నాం.
21 Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake. Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us.
౨౧నీ పేరును బట్టి మిమ్మల్ని గౌరవించేలా మమ్మల్ని తోసివేయవద్దు. మాతో నువ్వు చేసిన నిబంధనను గుర్తు చేసుకో. దాన్ని భంగం చేయవద్దు.
22 Are there any amongst the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, the LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
౨౨ఇతర రాజ్యాలు పెట్టుకున్న విగ్రహాలు ఆకాశం నుంచి వాన కురిపిస్తాయా? మా యెహోవా దేవా, ఇలా చేసేది నువ్వే గదా! ఇవన్నీ నువ్వే చేస్తున్నావు, నీ కోసమే మేము ఆశాభావంతో ఉన్నాము.
