Amos 9

1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and he said, “Strike the tops of the pillars, that the thresholds may shake. Break them in pieces on the head of all of them. I will kill the last of them with the sword. Not one of them will flee away. Not one of them will escape.

Je vis le Seigneur debout sur l'autel; et Il dit: Frappe le chapiteau à faire trembler les seuils, et fais-en tomber les pièces sur la tête d'eux tous! et par l'épée je tuerai les survivants; aucun d'eux ne pourra échapper par la fuite, ni aucun d'eux se sauver.

2 Though they dig into Sheol, there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down. (Sheol h7585)

S'ils forcent les Enfers, de là ma main les tirera; et s'ils montent dans les Cieux, je les en précipiterai; (Sheol h7585)

3 Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out from there; and though they be hidden from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.

s'ils se cachent à la cime du Carmel, je saurai les y surprendre et les y saisir, et s'ils vont se dérober à mes regards au fond de la mer, de là j'ordonnerai au serpent de les blesser;

4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, there I will command the sword, and it will kill them. I will set my eyes on them for evil, and not for good.

et s'ils marchent captifs en avant de leurs ennemis, de là j'ordonnerai à l'épée de les tuer, et je tournerai mes regards sur eux, non pour leur bien, mais pour leur malheur.

5 For the Lord, the GOD of Armies, is he who touches the land and it melts, and all who dwell in it will mourn; and it will rise up wholly like the River, and will sink again, like the River of Egypt.

C'est le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, qui touche la terre et elle se dissout, et tous ses habitants sont dans le deuil, et elle se soulève tout entière comme le fleuve, et s'affaisse comme le fleuve d'Egypte;

6 It is he who builds his rooms in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth—the LORD is his name.

c'est lui qui élève dans les Cieux ses hautes salles et fait poser ses voûtes sur la terre, qui appelle les eaux de la mer et les verse sur la face de la terre. L'Éternel est son nom.

7 Are you not like the children of the Ethiopians to me, children of Israel?” says the LORD. “Haven’t I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

N'êtes-vous pas pour moi ce que me sont les Éthiopiens, enfants d'Israël? dit l'Éternel. N'ai-je pas tiré Israël de la terre d'Égypte, et les Philistins de Caphthor, et les Syriens de Kir?

8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” says the LORD.

Voici, les yeux du Seigneur Éternel sont sur le royaume criminel, et je le ferai disparaître de la surface de la terre; seulement ne détruirai-je pas toute la maison de Jacob, dit l'Éternel.

9 “For behold, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel amongst all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet not the least kernel will fall on the earth.

Car voici, je vais en donner l'ordre et agiter la maison d'Israël entre toutes les nations, comme on agite avec le crible; mais le grain ne tombera pas à terre. Ils mourront par l'épée,

10 All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil won’t overtake nor meet us.’

tous les pécheurs de mon peuple qui disent: La calamité ne nous atteindra pas et ne nous assaillira pas.

11 In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old,

Je veux dans ce même temps relever la hutte déchue de David, refermer ses brèches, et réparer ses ruines, et l'édifier comme aux jours d'autrefois,

12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” says the LORD who does this.

afin qu'ils fassent la conquête des restes d'Édom et de tous les peuples qui porteront mon nom; ainsi parle l'Éternel qui le fera.

13 “Behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that the ploughman shall overtake the reaper, and the one treading grapes him who sows seed; and sweet wine will drip from the mountains, and flow from the hills.

Voici viennent des jours, dit l'Éternel, où le laboureur se rapprochera du moissonneur, et celui qui foule le raisin de celui qui répand la semence; et les montagnes seront découlantes de moût et toutes les collines ruisselantes.

14 I will bring my people Israel back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat their fruit.

Et je ramènerai les captifs de mon peuple d'Israël, et ils rebâtiront les villes dévastées et les habiteront, et ils planteront des vignes et en boiront le vin, et ils établiront des jardins et en mangeront les fruits.

15 I will plant them on their land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

Et je les replanterai dans leur sol, afin qu'ils ne soient plus arrachés de leur sol que je leur ai donné, dit l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
