2 Chronicles 28
1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, like David his father,
De veinte años era Acaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y dieciséis años reinó en Jerusalén; mas no hizo lo recto en ojos del SEÑOR, como David su padre.
2 but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also made molten images for the Baals.
Antes anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y además hizo imágenes de fundición a los Baales.
3 Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
Quemó también incienso en el valle de los hijos de Hinom, y quemó sus hijos por fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de los gentiles que el SEÑOR había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.
4 He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
Asimismo sacrificó y quemó incienso en los altos, y en los collados, y debajo de todo árbol espeso.
5 Therefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They struck him, and carried away from him a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.
Por lo cual el SEÑOR su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los sirios, los cuales le derrotaron, y cogieron de él una grande presa, que llevaron a Damasco. Fue también entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo hirió con gran mortandad.
6 For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah one hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men, because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Porque Peca, hijo de Remalías mató en Judá en un día ciento veinte mil, todos hombres valientes; por cuanto habían dejado al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.
7 Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king’s son, Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah who was next to the king.
Asimismo Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías hijo del rey, y a Azricam su mayordomo, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.
8 The children of Israel carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters, and also took away much plunder from them, and brought the plunder to Samaria.
Tomaron también cautivos los hijos de Israel de sus hermanos doscientos mil, mujeres, muchachos, y muchachas, a más de haber saqueado de ellos un gran despojo, el cual trajeron a Samaria.
9 But a prophet of the LORD was there, whose name was Oded; and he went out to meet the army that came to Samaria, and said to them, “Behold, because the LORD, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.
Había entonces allí un profeta del SEÑOR, que se llamaba Obed, el cual salió delante del ejército cuando entraba en Samaria, y les dijo: He aquí el SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, por el enojo contra Judá, los ha entregado en vuestras manos; y vosotros los habéis muerto con ira. Hasta el cielo ha llegado ésto.
10 Now you intend to degrade the children of Judah and Jerusalem as male and female slaves for yourselves. Aren’t there even with you trespasses of your own against the LORD your God?
Y ahora habéis determinado sujetar a vosotros a Judá y a Jerusalén por siervos y siervas; mas ¿no habéis vosotros pecado contra el SEÑOR vuestro Dios?
11 Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives that you have taken captive from your brothers, for the fierce wrath of the LORD is on you.”
Oídme, pues, ahora, y volved a enviar los cautivos que habéis tomado de vuestros hermanos; porque el SEÑOR está airado contra vosotros.
12 Then some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,
Entonces se levantaron algunos varones de los principales de los hijos de Efraín, Azarías hijo de Johanán, y Berequías hijo de Mesilemot, y Ezequías hijo de Salum, y Amasa hijo de Hadlai, contra los que venían de la guerra.
13 and said to them, “You must not bring in the captives here, for you intend that which will bring on us a trespass against the LORD, to add to our sins and to our guilt; for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”
Y les dijeron: No metáis acá la cautividad; porque el pecado contra el SEÑOR será sobre nosotros. Vosotros tratáis de añadir sobre nuestros pecados y sobre nuestras culpas, siendo asaz grande nuestro delito, y la ira del furor sobre Israel.
14 So the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the princes and all the assembly.
Entonces el ejército dejó los cautivos y la presa delante de los príncipes y de toda la multitud.
15 The men who have been mentioned by name rose up and took the captives, and with the plunder clothed all who were naked amongst them, dressed them, gave them sandals, gave them something to eat and to drink, anointed them, carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
Y se levantaron los varones nombrados, y tomaron los cautivos, y vistieron del despojo a los que de ellos estaban desnudos; los vistieron y los calzaron, y les dieron de comer y de beber, y los ungieron, y condujeron en asnos a todos los flacos, y los llevaron hasta Jericó, la ciudad de las palmas, cerca de sus hermanos; y ellos se volvieron a Samaria.
16 At that time King Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.
En aquel tiempo envió a pedir el rey Acaz a los reyes de Asiria que le ayudasen.
17 For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.
Porque a más de esto, los idumeos habían venido y herido a los de Judá, y habían llevado cautivos.
18 The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Soco with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and also Gimzo and its villages; and they lived there.
Asimismo los filisteos se habían derramado por las ciudades de la llanura, y al mediodía de Judá, y habían tomado a Bet-semes, a Ajalón, Gederot, y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna también con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y habitaban en ellas.
19 For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, because he acted without restraint in Judah and trespassed severely against the LORD.
Porque el SEÑOR había humillado a Judá por causa de Acaz rey de Israel; por cuanto él había desnudado a Judá, y había rebelado gravemente contra el SEÑOR.
20 Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him and gave him trouble, but didn’t strengthen him.
Y vino contra él Tilgat-pileser, rey de los Asirios; pues lo redujo a estrechez, y no lo fortificó.
21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the LORD’s house, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria; but it didn’t help him.
Aunque despojó Acaz la Casa del SEÑOR, y la casa real, y las de los príncipes, para dar al rey de los asirios, con todo eso él no le ayudó.
22 In the time of his distress, he trespassed yet more against the LORD, this same King Ahaz.
Además el rey Acaz en el tiempo que aquél le apuraba, añadió prevaricación contra el SEÑOR;
23 For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus which had defeated him. He said, “Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.
porque sacrificó a los dioses de Damasco que le habían herido, y dijo: Pues que los dioses de los reyes de Siria les ayudan, yo también sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden; habiendo sido éstos su ruina, y la de todo Israel.
24 Ahaz gathered together the vessels of God’s house, cut the vessels of God’s house in pieces, and shut up the doors of the LORD’s house; and he made himself altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
A más de eso recogió Acaz los vasos de la Casa de Dios, y los quebró, y cerró las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, y se hizo altares en Jerusalén en todos los rincones.
25 In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers, to anger.
Hizo también altos en todas las ciudades de Judá, para quemar incienso a los dioses ajenos, provocando a ira al SEÑOR Dios de sus padres.
26 Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Lo demás de sus hechos, y todos sus caminos, primeros y postreros, he aquí ello está escrito en el libro de los reyes de Judá y de Israel.
27 Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem, because they didn’t bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
Y durmió Acaz con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de Jerusalén; mas no le metieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Ezequías su hijo.
