< 1 Samuel 8 >
1 When Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.
Nígbà tí Samuẹli di arúgbó, ó yan àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí adájọ́ fún Israẹli.
2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah. They were judges in Beersheba.
Orúkọ àkọ́bí rẹ̀ a máa jẹ́ Joẹli àti orúkọ èkejì a máa jẹ́ Abijah, wọ́n ṣe ìdájọ́ ní Beerṣeba.
3 His sons didn’t walk in his ways, but turned away after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, kò rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ̀. Wọ́n yípadà sí èrè àìṣòótọ́, wọ́n gba àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀, wọ́n sì ń yí ìdájọ́ po.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramah.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, gbogbo àwọn àgbàgbà ti Israẹli péjọpọ̀, wọ́n sì wá sọ́dọ̀ Samuẹli ní Rama.
5 They said to him, “Behold, you are old, and your sons don’t walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”
Wọ́n wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ ti di arúgbó, àwọn ọmọ rẹ kò sì rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ, nísinsin yìí, yan ọba fún wa kí ó lè máa darí wa gẹ́gẹ́ bí i tí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè.”
6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” Samuel prayed to the LORD.
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí wọ́n wí pé, “Fún wa ní ọba tí yóò darí wa,” èyí kò tẹ́ Samuẹli lọ́rùn, ó sì gbàdúrà sí Olúwa.
7 The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they tell you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me as the king over them.
Olúwa sì sọ fún Samuẹli pé, “Gbọ́ ohùn àwọn ènìyàn náà, ní gbogbo èyí tí wọ́n sọ fún ọ; nítorí kì í ṣe ìwọ ni wọ́n kọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n èmi ni wọ́n kọ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba lórí wọn.
8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me and served other gods, so they also do to you.
Gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti ṣe ní ọjọ́ tí mo mú wọn jáde wá láti Ejibiti títí di ọjọ́ òní, wọ́n kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ń sin ọlọ́run mìíràn, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ń ṣe sí ọ.
9 Now therefore, listen to their voice. However, you shall protest solemnly to them, and shall show them the way of the king who will reign over them.”
Nísinsin yìí, gbọ́ tiwọn; ṣùgbọ́n kìlọ̀ fún wọn dáradára, kí o sì jẹ́ kí wọ́n mọ irú ohun tí ọba tí yóò jẹ́ lórí wọn yóò ṣe.”
10 Samuel told all the LORD’s words to the people who asked him for a king.
Samuẹli sọ gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sí àwọn ọmọ ènìyàn tí ó ń béèrè fún ọba lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.
11 He said, “This will be the way of the king who shall reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them as his servants, for his chariots and to be his horsemen; and they will run before his chariots.
Ó wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí ọba tí yóò jẹ lórí yín yóò ṣe. Yóò kó àwọn ọmọkùnrin yín, yóò sì mú wọn ṣiṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun rẹ̀ àti fún ẹlẹ́ṣin rẹ, wọn yóò sì máa sáré níwájú kẹ̀kẹ́ rẹ̀.
12 He will appoint them to him for captains of thousands and captains of fifties; and he will assign some to plough his ground and to reap his harvest; and to make his instruments of war and the instruments of his chariots.
Yóò yan díẹ̀ láti jẹ́ olórí ẹgbẹẹgbẹ̀rún àti olórí àádọ́ta àti àwọn mìíràn. Yóò yan wọ́n láti máa tulẹ̀ oko rẹ̀ àti láti máa kórè rẹ̀ àti àwọn mìíràn láti máa ṣe ohun èlò ogun àti ohun èlò kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun rẹ̀.
13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, to be cooks, and to be bakers.
Yóò mú àwọn ọmọbìnrin yín láti máa ṣe olùṣe ìkunra olóòórùn dídùn àti láti máa ṣe àsè àti láti máa ṣe àkàrà.
14 He will take your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, even your best, and give them to his servants.
Yóò mú èyí tí ó dára jù nínú oko yín, àti nínú ọgbà àjàrà yín àti nínú igi olifi yín, yóò sì fi wọ́n fún àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
15 He will take one tenth of your seed and of your vineyards, and give it to his officers and to his servants.
Yóò mú ìdásímẹ́wàá hóró ọkà yín àti àká èso àjàrà yín, yóò sì fi fún àwọn oníṣẹ́ àti ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀.
16 He will take your male servants, your female servants, your best young men, and your donkeys, and assign them to his own work.
Àwọn ìránṣẹ́kùnrin àti ìránṣẹ́bìnrin yín àti èyí tí ó dára jù nínú ẹran ọ̀sìn àti àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ yín ni yóò mú fún ìlò ti ara rẹ̀.
17 He will take one tenth of your flocks; and you will be his servants.
Yóò sì mú ìdámẹ́wàá nínú àwọn agbo ẹran yín, yóò sì máa ṣe ẹrú u rẹ̀.
18 You will cry out in that day because of your king whom you will have chosen for yourselves; and the LORD will not answer you in that day.”
Tí ọjọ́ náà bá dé, ẹ̀yin yóò kígbe fún ìrànlọ́wọ́ láti ọ̀dọ̀ ọba tí ẹ̀yin ti yàn. Olúwa kò sì ní dá a yín lóhùn ní ọjọ́ náà.”
19 But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us,
Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn náà kọ̀ láti tẹ́tí sí Samuẹli wọ́n wí pé, “Rárá! A bí ìwọ fẹ́ jẹ́ ọba lórí i wa?
20 that we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.”
Nígbà náà àwa yóò dàbí gbogbo àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè mìíràn, pẹ̀lú ọba láti darí i wa àti láti jáde lọ níwájú wa láti ja ogun wa.”
21 Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
Nígbà tí Samuẹli gbọ́ gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ènìyàn sọ, ó tún tún un sọ níwájú Olúwa.
22 The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to their voice, and make them a king.” Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Everyone go to your own city.”
Olúwa dáhùn pé, “Tẹ́tí sí wọn, kí o sì yan ọba fún wọn.” Nígbà náà, Samuẹli sọ fún àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli pé, “Kí olúkúlùkù padà sí ìlú u rẹ̀.”
