1 Kings 22
1 They continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.
१पुढील तीन वर्षे इस्राएल आणि अराम यांच्यामध्ये शांततेची गेली.
2 In the third year, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.
२तिसऱ्या वर्षी, यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट इस्राएलाचा राजा याला भेटायला गेला.
3 The king of Israel said to his servants, “You know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, and we do nothing, and don’t take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”
३यावेळी इस्राएलाच्या राजाने आपल्या अधिकाऱ्यांना विचारले, “अरामाच्या राजाने रामोथ-गिलाद आपल्याकडून घेतले होते ते आठवते ना? ते परत मिळवण्यासाठी आपण काहीच का केले नाही? रामोथ आपले असायला हवे.”
4 He said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”
४आणि इस्राएल राजा यहोशाफाटाला म्हणाला, “तुम्ही आमच्या बाजूने रामोथ-गिलाद येथे अरामी सैन्याशी लढाल का?” यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “अवश्य माझे सैन्य आणि घोडे तुमचेच आहेत.”
5 Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please enquire first for the LORD’s word.”
५यहोशाफाटाने इस्राएलाच्या राजास म्हटले, “प्रथम आपण परमेश्वराचा सल्ला घेतला पाहिजे.”
6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Should I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or should I refrain?” They said, “Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
६तेव्हा इस्राएलाच्या राजाने संदेष्ट्यांची एक सभा घेतली. तेव्हा तिथे चारशे संदेष्टे हजर होते. राजाने त्यांना विचारले, “आपण आत्ताच रामोथ-गिलाद येथे अरामी फौजेवर चालून जावे का?” की काही काळ थांबावे? संदेष्टे म्हणाले, “तुम्ही खुशाल आत्ताच हल्ला करा. परमेश्वर तुम्हास जय मिळवून देईल.”
7 But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of him?”
७पण यहोशाफाटाने शंका काढली, “परमेश्वराचा आणखी कोणी संदेष्टा यांच्या खेरीज इथे आहे का? तसा असेल तर त्यालाही देवाचे मत विचारलेले बरे.”
8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may enquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
८इस्राएलाचा राजा म्हणाला, “ज्याच्या द्वारे परमेश्वराचा सल्ला घेता येईल तसा आणखी एक संदेष्टा आहे. इम्ला याचा पुत्र मीखाया.” पण मी त्याचा द्वेष करतो. कारण तो काही सांगतो तेव्हा माझ्याबद्दल कधीच चांगले भविष्यकथन करत नाही. त्याचे बोलणे मला अप्रिय वाटते. यहोशाफाट म्हणाला, “इस्राएलाच्या राजा, तुझे असे बोलणे बरोबर नव्हे.”
9 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Quickly get Micaiah the son of Imlah.”
९तेव्हा इस्राएलाच्या राजाने आपल्या एका सेवकाला “इम्लाचा पुत्र मीखायाला घेऊन येण्यास सांगितले.”
10 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
१०यावेळी इस्राएलाचा राजा व यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट राजवस्त्रे घालून सिंहासनावर बसले होते. शोमरोनच्या वेशीजवळ न्यायदान चालते त्याठिकाणी ते होते. सर्व संदेष्टे त्यांच्या समोर उभे होते. त्यांचे भविष्यकथन चालेले होते.
11 Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron, and said, “The LORD says, ‘With these you will push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”
११त्यांच्यापैकी एक कनानाचा पुत्र सिद्कीया हा होता. त्याने प्रचंड शक्तीचे प्रतीक अशी लोखंडाची शिंगे केली होती. तो अहाबाला म्हणाला, “परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे हे आहे की ही शिंगे तू अरामी सैन्याविरुध्द लढताना वापरावीस म्हणजे तू शत्रूचा पराभव करशील, त्याचा संहार करशील.”
12 All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
१२मग ते सर्वच भविष्यवादी भविष्य सांगत होते. पुढे सिद्कीया म्हणाला, “आता तुझ्या सैन्याने चढाई करावी. रामोथ-गिलाद येथे अरामी सैन्यावर हल्ला करावा. विजय तुमचाच आहे. परमेश्वर ते राजाच्या हाती देईल.”
13 The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “See now, the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak good.”
१३हे चाललेले असतानाच एक सेवक मीखायाच्या शोधात गेला व त्यास भेटून म्हणाला, “राजा या युध्दात विजयी होईल असे सर्वच संदेष्ट्यांचे म्हणणे आहे. तेव्हा तूही तसेच म्हणणे श्रेयस्कर ठरेल व ते सुरक्षितपणाचे होईल.”
14 Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that I will speak.”
१४पण मीखाया म्हणाला, “नाही, कदापि नाही. जे परमेश्वर माझ्याकडून वदवतो तेच मी सांगेन. माझी तशी प्रतिज्ञाच आहे.”
15 When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall we forbear?” He answered him, “Go up and prosper; and the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
१५मीखाया मग राजाकडे आला. राजाने त्यास विचारले, “मीखाया, मी आणि राजा यहोशाफाट हातमिळवणी करु ना? रामोथ-गिलाद अरामाच्या सैन्यावर आता चढाई करु का?” मीखाया म्हणाला, “हो तुम्ही आत्ताच ही लढाई करा. परमेश्वर तुम्हास यश देईल.”
16 The king said to him, “How many times do I have to adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the LORD’s name?”
१६पण राजा त्यास म्हणाला, “तू हे परमेश्वराच्या शक्तीने सांगत नाहीस. आपल्या मनाचे सांगतो आहेस. तेव्हा खरे काय ते सांग परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे सांग. अशी शपथ कितीदा मी तुला देऊ?”
17 He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. The LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’”
१७तेव्हा मीखायाने सांगितले, “काय होणार ते मला दिसते आहे. इस्राएलाचे सैन्य डोंगरांवर इतस्तत: पसरेल. मेंढपाळ नसलेल्या मेंढरांसारखी त्यांची अवस्था होईल. परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे असे आहे, ‘यांना कोणी नेता नाही. यांनी सुखरूप घरी जावे. लढाईच्या भानगडीत पडू नये.”
18 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
१८मग इस्राएलाच्या राजा यहोशाफाटाला म्हणाला, “पाहा, हेच बोललो होतो ना मी! हा संदेष्टा कधीही माझ्याबद्दल चांगले भविष्यकथन करत नाही. हा नेहमी अप्रिय गोष्टीच मला ऐकवतो.”
19 Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the LORD’s word. I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.
१९इकडे परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे काय आहे ते मीखाया सांगतच होता. मीखाया म्हणाला, “ऐका परमेश्वर काय म्हणतो: ते पाहा परमेश्वर स्वर्गात सिंहासनावर बसलेला मी पाहिला. आकाशातले त्याचे सर्व सैन्य त्याच्या शेजारी उभे आहे.
20 The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One said one thing, and another said another.
२०परमेश्वराने म्हटले, ‘अहाब राजाची कोणी फसगत करेल का? त्याने रामोथ-गिलाद वर हल्ला करावा असे मला वाटते. त्यामध्ये त्यास मरण येईल.’ तेव्हा आता काय करावे याबद्दल देवदूतांमध्ये एकमत होईना.
21 A spirit came out and stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’
२१मग त्यापैकी एकजण परमेश्वराकडे गेला आणि म्हणाला, ‘मी हे काम करीन.’
22 The LORD said to him, ‘How?’ He said, ‘I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said, ‘You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’
२२परमेश्वर त्यास म्हणाला, ‘तू अहाबाची फसगत कशी करशील?’ यावर तो देवदूत म्हणाला, ‘मी अहाबाच्या संदेष्ट्यांमध्ये गोंधळ माजवून देईन. त्यांना मी राजाशी खोटे बोलायला प्रवृत्त करीन संदेष्टे राजाला सांगतील ते खोटे असेल.’ यावर परमेश्वर म्हणाला, ‘हे चांगले झाले; जा आणि अहाब राजाला या मोहात पाड, तुला यश येईल.
23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.”
२३मीखायाचे सांगून झाले. मग तो म्हणाला, तेव्हा खरी हकिकत अशी आहे. परमेश्वरानेच तुमच्या संदेष्ट्यांना खोटे बोलायला लावले आहे. तुमच्यावर मोठे संकट ओढवावे असे परमेश्वरास वाटते.”
24 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the LORD’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”
२४मग कनानाचा पुत्र सिदकीया हा संदेष्टा मीखायाजवळ गेला. मीखायाच्या त्याने तोंडात मारले. सिद्कीया म्हणाला, “माझ्यातली परमेश्वराची शक्ती संपली आहे आणि तो आता तुझ्या मार्फतच बोलतो आहे अशी खरेच तुझी समजूत आहे?”
25 Micaiah said, “Behold, you will see on that day when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
२५मीखाया म्हणाला, “लवकरच आपत्ती येणार आहे. तेव्हा तू एका लहानशा खोलीत दडून बसशील तेव्हा माझे म्हणणे खरे असल्याचे तुझ्या लक्षात येईल.”
26 The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son.
२६तेव्हा इस्राएलच्या राजाने आपल्या एका सेवकाला मीखायाला पकडायचा हुकूम केला. राजा म्हणाला, “याला धरा आणि नगराधिकारी आमोन व राजपुत्र योवाश यांच्याकडे घेऊन जा.
27 Say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”
२७आणि त्यांना जाऊन सांगा, राजा म्हणतो, या मनुष्यांस बंदीत टाका व मी सुखरूप परत येईपर्यंत त्यास फक्त भाकर आणि पाणी द्या. युध्दावरुन मी परत सुखरूप येईपर्यंत त्यास तिथेच राहू द्या.”
28 Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, all you people!”
२८मीखाया मोठ्याने म्हणाला, “मी काय म्हणतो ते सर्व लोकहो ऐका. राजा, तू युध्दावरुन जिवंत परत आलास तर परमेश्वर माझ्या मार्फत बोलला नाही असे खुशाल समजा.”
29 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
२९नंतर इस्राएल राजा अहाब आणि यहूदाचा राजा यहोशाफाट रामोथ येथे अरामाच्या सैन्याशी लढायला गेले. रामोथ-गिलाद प्रांतात हे युध्द झाले.
30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but you put on your robes.” The king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.
३०अहाब यहोशाफाटाला म्हणाला, “आपण आता युध्दाचा व्यूह रचू. मला राजा म्हणून कोणी ओळखणार नाही असे कपडे मी घालीन. पण तू मात्र राजाला शोभेल असाच पोषाख कर.” अशाप्रकारे इस्राएलाच्या राजाने अगदी चारचौघांसारखे कपडे करून युध्दाला सुरुवात केली.
31 Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
३१अरामाच्या राजाकडे बत्तीस रथाधिपती होते. त्या राजाने या बत्तीस जणांना इस्राएलाच्या राजाचा शोध घ्यायला सांगितले. राजाला ठार करण्याबद्दल त्याने त्यांना बजावले.
32 When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely that is the king of Israel!” and they came over to fight against him. Jehoshaphat cried out.
३२तेव्हा युध्द चालू असताना या रथाधिपतींनी राजा यहोशाफाटाला पाहिले. “तोच इस्राएलचा राजा असे त्यांना वाटले.” त्यामुळे त्याचा ते वध करायला निघाले. यहोशाफाट आरडाओरडा करु लागला.
33 When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
३३हा इस्राएलचा अहाब राजा नव्हे हे त्या रथाधिपतीच्या लक्षात आल्यावर त्यांनी त्यास मारले नाही.
34 A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armour. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around, and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.”
३४तेव्हा एका सैनिकाने, कोणावर नेम धरुन नव्हे असा हवेतच एक बाण सोडला. हा बाण नक्की इस्राएलाचा राजा अहाब याला लागला. शरीराचा जो छोटा भाग चिलखताने झाकलेला नव्हता तिथे बाण लागला. तेव्हा राजा अहाब आपल्या सारथ्याला म्हणाला, “मला बाण लागला आहे. रथ येथून हलव. आपण या लढाईपासून दूर जाऊ.”
35 The battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
३५युध्द मात्र चालूच राहिले. राजा अहाब आपल्या रथात बसून राहिला. रथात टेकून बसून तो अरामाच्या सैन्याकडे पाहत होता. त्यास एवढा रक्तस्राव झाला की रथाच्या बैठकीच्या भागात रक्ताचे थारोळे झाले. संध्याकाळच्या सुमारास राजाला मृत्यू आला.
36 A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his country!”
३६सूर्यास्ताच्या वेळी “इस्राएलाच्या सर्वसैन्याला आपापल्या प्रांतात घरोघरी जायचा आदेश मिळाला.”
37 So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.
३७राजा अहाबाला अशा तऱ्हेने मरण आले. काही जणांनी त्याचा देह शोमरोनाला आणला. त्यास त्यांनी तिथे पुरले.
38 They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves, according to the LORD’s word which he spoke.
३८शोमरोनमधल्या तळ्यावर या लोकांनी अहाबाच्या रथ धुतला. रथातील रक्त कुत्र्यांनी चाटले आणि त्या तळ्यातील पाण्याने वेश्या स्नान करीत असत. परमेश्वराने जे जे होईल असे सांगितले होते तसेच नक्की घडले.
39 Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
३९इस्राएलाच्या राजांचा इतिहास या ग्रंथात राजा अहाबाच्या सर्व गोष्टींची नोंद केलेली आहे. आपला महाल सुशोभित करण्यासाठी त्याने हस्तिदंत कसे वापरले, त्याने नगरे उभारली याबद्दलही या ग्रंथात सांगितलेले आहे.
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
४०अहाब मरण पावला व त्यास त्याच्या पूर्वजांशेजारी दफन करण्यात आले. त्याचा पुत्र अहज्या त्याच्या जागी राजा झाला.
41 Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.
४१अहाब इस्राएलाचा राजा झाल्यावर चौथे वर्ष चालू असताना यहोशाफाट यहूदाचा राजा झाला. यहोशाफाट हा आसाचा पुत्र.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
४२यहोशाफाट वयाच्या पस्तीसाव्या वर्षी राजा झाला आणि यरूशलेमामध्ये त्याने पंचवीस वर्षे राज्य केले. त्याच्या आईचे नाव अजूबा. ती शिल्हीची कन्या.
43 He walked in all the way of Asa his father. He didn’t turn away from it, doing that which was right in the LORD’s eyes. However, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.
४३यहोशाफाट चांगला राजा होता. हा आपले वडिल आसा ह्यांच्याप्रमाणेच वागला. परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने जे योग्य ते त्याने केले. पण यहोशाफाटाने उंचावरील पूजास्थळे काढली नाहीत. लोक त्याठिकाणी होम करणे, धूप जाळणे वगैरे करत राहिले.
44 Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.
४४यहोशाफाट राजाने इस्राएलाच्या राजाशी शांततेचा करार केला.
45 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he fought, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
४५राजा यहोशाफाट शूर होता. त्याने बऱ्याच लढाया केल्या. त्याने जे केले त्याची हकिकत यहूदाच्या राजांचा इतिहास या ग्रंथात आहे.
46 The remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.
४६त्याचे वडिल आसा राज्य करीत असताना जे पुरुषगमन करणारे राहून गेले होते त्यांना यहोशाफाटाने त्यांना हाकलून लावले.
47 There was no king in Edom. A deputy ruled.
४७याच काळात अदोम प्रदेशाला राजा नव्हता. एक कारभारीच इथला कारभार पाहत असे. त्याची नेमणूक यहूदाचा राजा करी.
48 Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they didn’t go, for the ships wrecked at Ezion Geber.
४८राजा यहोशाफाटाने तार्शीशी काही मालवाहू गलबते बांधली. त्यामध्ये त्याचा हेतू ओफिरहून सोने आणण्याचा होता. पण ती तेथपर्यंत कधी पोहोंचू शकली नाहीत कारण एसयोन-गेबेरच्या बंदरात त्यांची नासधूस करण्यात आली.
49 Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat would not.
४९इस्राएलाचा राजा अहाबाचा पुत्र अहज्या याने यहोशाफाटाला मदतीचा हात दिला. “त्याच्या मनुष्यांबरोबर आपले खलाशी देण्याची तयारी दर्शवली.” पण अहज्याची कुमक स्विकारण्यास यहोशाफाटाने नकार दिला.
50 Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in his father David’s city. Jehoram his son reigned in his place.
५०यहोशाफाट मरण पावला त्यानंतर दावीद नगरात आपल्या पूर्वजांबरोबर त्याचे दफन करण्यात आले. त्याच्या जागी त्याचा पुत्र यहोराम राज्य करु लागला.
51 Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.
५१अहज्या अहाबाचा पुत्र होता. यहोशाफाटाच्या यहूदावरील सत्तेच्या सतराव्या वर्षी अहज्या इस्राएलाचा राजा झाला. शोमरोन मध्ये त्याने दोन वर्षे राज्य केले.
52 He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, in which he made Israel to sin.
५२अहज्याने परमेश्वराचे अनेक अपराध केले. आपले वडिल अहाब, आई ईजबेल आणि नबाटाचा पुत्र यराबाम या सगळ्यांनी जे केले तेच याने केले. या सर्व राज्यकर्त्यांनी इस्राएली लोकांस आणखी पापात लोटले.
53 He served Baal and worshipped him, and provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger in all the ways that his father had done so.
५३आपल्या वडिलांप्रमाणेच अहज्यानेही बआल या अमंगळ दैवताची पूजा केली. त्यामुळे इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर याचा कोप ओढवला. परमेश्वर अहाबावर संतापला होता तसाच अहज्यावर संतापला.
