< Jeremiah 14 >

1 This is the LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:
Èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sí Jeremiah nípa ti àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn:
2 “Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.
“Juda káàánú, àwọn ìlú rẹ̀ kérora wọ́n pohùnréré ẹkún fún ilẹ̀ wọn, igbe wọn sì gòkè lọ láti Jerusalẹmu.
3 Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.
Àwọn ọlọ́lá ènìyàn rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ wọn lọ bu omi, wọ́n lọ sí ìdí àmù ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò rí omi. Wọ́n padà pẹ̀lú ìkòkò òfìfo; ìrẹ̀wẹ̀sì àti àìnírètí bá wọn, wọ́n sì bo orí wọn.
4 Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the ploughmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.
Ilẹ̀ náà sán nítorí pé kò sí òjò ní ilẹ̀ náà; ìrètí àwọn àgbẹ̀ di òfo, wọ́n sì bo orí wọn.
5 Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
Kódà, abo àgbọ̀nrín tí ó wà lórí pápá fi ọmọ rẹ̀ tí ó ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ bí sílẹ̀, torí pé kò sí koríko.
6 The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.
Àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ igbó dúró lórí òkè òfìfo wọ́n sì ń mí ẹ̀fúùfù bí ìkookò ojú wọn kò ríran nítorí pé kò sí koríko jíjẹ.”
7 Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, LORD; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.
Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa jẹ́rìí lòdì sí wa, wá nǹkan kan ṣe sí i Olúwa, nítorí orúkọ rẹ. Nítorí ìpadàsẹ́yìn wa ti pọ̀jù, a ti ṣẹ̀ sí ọ.
8 You hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
Ìrètí Israẹli; ìgbàlà rẹ lásìkò ìpọ́njú, èéṣe tí ìwọ dàbí àlejò ní ilẹ̀ náà bí arìnrìn-àjò tí ó dúró fún bí òru ọjọ́ kan péré?
9 Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, LORD, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.
Èéṣe tí ìwọ dàbí ẹni tí a dààmú, bí jagunjagun tí kò le ran ni lọ́wọ́? Ìwọ wà láàrín wa, Olúwa, orúkọ rẹ ni a sì ń pè mọ́ wa; má ṣe fi wá sílẹ̀.
10 The LORD says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”
Báyìí ni Olúwa sọ nípa àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí: “Wọ́n fẹ́ràn láti máa rìn kiri; wọn kò kó ọkàn wọn ní ìjánu. Nítorí náà Olúwa kò gbà wọ́n; yóò wá rántí ìwà búburú wọn báyìí, yóò sì fi ìyà ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wọn jẹ wọ́n.”
11 The LORD said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.
Nígbà náà ni Olúwa sọ fún mi pé, “Má ṣe gbàdúrà fún àlàáfíà àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí.
12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”
Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n gbààwẹ̀, èmi kò ní tẹ́tí sí igbe wọn. Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n rú ẹbọ sísun àti ẹbọ ìyẹ̀fun, èmi ò nígbà wọ́n. Dípò bẹ́ẹ̀, èmi ó fi idà, ìyàn àti àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn pa wọ́n run.”
13 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
Ṣùgbọ́n mo sọ pé, “Háà! Olúwa Olódùmarè. Àwọn wòlíì ń sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Ẹ kò ni rí idà tàbí ìyàn. Dájúdájú èmi ó fún yín ní àlàáfíà tí yóò tọ́jọ́ níbí yìí?’”
14 Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
Nígbà náà Olúwa sọ fún mi pé, “Àwọn wòlíì ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ èké ní orúkọ mi. Èmi kò rán wọn, tàbí yàn wọ́n tàbí bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀. Ìran èké ni wọ́n ń rí sí i yín. Àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ èké ni wọ́n ń sọ fún un yín nípa ìran ìrírí, àfọ̀ṣẹ, ìbọ̀rìṣà àti ìtànjẹ ọkàn wọn.
15 Therefore the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.
Nítorí náà, èyí ni Olúwa sọ nípa àwọn wòlíì tí wọ́n ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ lórúkọ mi. Èmi kò rán wọn, síbẹ̀ wọ́n sì ń sọ pé, ‘Idà kan tàbí ìyàn, kì yóò dé ilẹ̀ yìí.’ Àwọn wòlíì kan náà yóò parẹ́ nípa idà àti ìyàn.
16 The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni àwọn ènìyàn tí wọ́n ń sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ fún ni a ó lé sí òpópónà Jerusalẹmu torí idà àti ìyàn. Wọn kò ní i rí ẹni tí yóò sìn wọ́n tàbí ìyàwó wọn, àwọn ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin wọn. Èmi yóò mú ìdààmú tí ó yẹ bá ọmọkùnrin àti ọmọbìnrin wọn.
17 “You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
“Kí ìwọ kí ó sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ yìí fún wọn pé: “‘Jẹ́ kí ojú mi kí ó sun omijé ní ọ̀sán àti ní òru láìdá; nítorí tí a ti ṣá wúńdíá, ọmọ ènìyàn mi ní ọgbẹ́ ńlá pẹ̀lú lílù bolẹ̀.
18 If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”
Bí mo bá lọ sí orílẹ̀-èdè náà, Èmi yóò rí àwọn tí wọ́n fi idà pa. Bí mo bá lọ sí ìlú ńlá, èmi rí àwọn tí ìyàn ti sọ di aláàrùn. Wòlíì àti Àlùfáà ti lọ sí ilẹ̀ tí wọn kò mọ̀.’”
19 Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
Ṣé o ti kọ Juda sílẹ̀ pátápátá ni? Ṣé o ti ṣá Sioni tì? Èéṣe tí o fi pọ́n wa lójú tí a kò fi le wò wá sàn? A ń retí àlàáfíà ṣùgbọ́n ohun rere kan kò tí ì wá, ní àsìkò ìwòsàn ìpayà là ń rí.
20 We acknowledge, LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
Olúwa, a jẹ́wọ́ ìwà ibi wa àti àìṣedéédéé àwọn baba wa; lóòótọ́ ni a ti ṣẹ̀ sí ọ.
21 Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake. Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us.
Nítorí orúkọ rẹ má ṣe kórìíra wa; má ṣe sọ ìtẹ́ ògo rẹ di àìlọ́wọ̀. Rántí májẹ̀mú tí o bá wa dá kí o má ṣe dà á.
22 Are there any amongst the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, the LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
Ǹjẹ́ èyíkéyìí àwọn òrìṣà yẹ̀yẹ́ tí àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè le ṣe kí òjò rọ̀? Ǹjẹ́ àwọsánmọ̀ fúnra rẹ̀ rọ òjò bí? Rárá, ìwọ ni, Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa. Torí náà, ìrètí wa wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ, nítorí pé ìwọ lo ń ṣe gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí.
