< Amos 5 >

1 Listen to this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:
Aw Israel imthung takoh, nangcae qahhaih lok hoi misa haih lok hae tahngai oh:
2 “The virgin of Israel has fallen; She shall rise no more. She is cast down on her land; there is no one to raise her up.”
nongpata kacuem Israel loe amtim boeh, anih loe natuek naah doeh angthawk let mak ai boeh. Anih loe prae thungah pahnawt sut ah oh boeh moe, anih pathawk han kami maeto doeh om ai.
3 For the Lord GOD says: “The city that went out a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went out one hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.”
Angraeng Sithaw mah, Vangpui hoiah kami sangto caeh o naah, kami cumvaito ni anghmat tih; Israel imthung takoh cumvaito caeh o naah, kami hato ni anghmat tih, tiah thuih.
4 For the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek me, and you will live;
Israel imthung takoh khaeah Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; kai hae pakrong ah loe, hing oh;
5 but don’t seek Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and don’t pass to Beersheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nothing.
Bethel to pakrong o hmah, Gilgal thungah akun o hmah, Beersheba ah caeh o hmah, Gilgal loe tamna ah om ueloe, Bethel loe atho tidoeh om mak ai boeh.
6 Seek the LORD, and you will live, lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be no one to quench it in Bethel.
Angraeng to pakrong oh loe, hing oh, to tih ai nahaeloe Joseph ih imthung to hmai baktiah kangh ueloe, amro ving tih, Bethel ah hmai paduek han kami maeto doeh om mak ai.
7 You who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth!
Toenghaih to sethaih bangah paqoi ving moe, toenghaih to long ah va ving nangcae,
8 Seek him who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night; who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the LORD is his name,
cakaeh sarihto hoi Orion sahkung, duekhaih tahlip to khodai ah paqoi moe, khodai to khoving ah sahkung to pakrong oh; tuipui tuinawk to palawk moe, long ah kraikung ih ahmin loe Angraeng, tiah oh.
9 who brings sudden destruction on the strong, so that destruction comes on the fortress.
Thacak kami amrosakkung hoi misa pakaahaih kaom vangpui amrosak thaih Sithaw to pakrong oh.
10 They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks blamelessly.
Lokcaekhaih ahmuen ih thuitaekhaih to na hnukma o moe, loktang thui kami to na panuet o.
11 Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take taxes from him of wheat, you have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.
Amtang kami to na hnap o, anih ih cang to na lomh pae o moe, thlung im to na sak o, toe to im thungah na om o mak ai; misur takha thungah misurkung to na thling o, toe misurtui na nae o mak ai.
12 For I know how many are your offences, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn away the needy in the courts.
Pop parai na sakpazaehaih hoi kalen parai na zaehaih to ka panoek; katoeng kaminawk to na pacaekthlaek o moe, bokhaih phoisa to na lak o; lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah amtang kaminawk to toenghaih thung hoiah nam khraeng o sak.
13 Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.
Kasae tue ah oh pongah, to atue ah palungha kaminawk loe om o duem tih.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the LORD, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say.
Na hing thai hanah, kasae to pakrong hmah, kahoih to pakrong ah; na thuih o ih baktih toengah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw loe nangcae khaeah om tih.
15 Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the LORD, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”
Kasae to hnuma ah loe, kahoih to palung ah; lokthuihaih khongkha thungah kamsoem lok to thui poe ah, to tih nahaeloe misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah kanghmat Joseph kaminawk nuiah tahmenhaih tawn khoe doeh om tih.
16 Therefore the LORD, the God of Armies, the Lord, says: “Wailing will be in all the wide ways. They will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’ They will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skilful in lamentation to wailing.
To pongah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Loklam kruekah qahhaih to om ueloe, lamkrungnawk boih ah, Ala! Ala! tiah palungnathaih hoi hanghaih to om tih. Qah hanah lawk phrawk kami to kawk o ueloe, qah hanah qah thaih kaminawk to pacae o tih.
17 In all vineyards there will be wailing, for I will pass through the middle of you,” says the LORD.
Nangcae salakah ka caeh pongah, misur takha ohhaih ahmuen boih ah qahhaih to om tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
18 “Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD! Why do you long for the day of the LORD? It is darkness, and not light.
Angraeng ih ani koeh kami loe khosak bing! Tih hanah Angraeng ih ani to na koeh o? To ani loe ving tih, aanghaih to om mak ai.
19 As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or he went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a snake bit him.
Kami maeto mah kaipui to cawnhtaak, toe taqom maeto a tongh, to tih ai boeh loe angmah ih im ah a caeh moe, tapang nuiah ban a koeng naah, pahui mah patuk pae baktiah ni om tih.
20 Won’t the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Angraeng ih ani loe ving tih, aang mak ai; aanghaih kaom ai, kaving parai ani ah na ai maw oh?
21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I can’t stand your solemn assemblies.
Nangcae poihsakhaih ninawk to ka hnukma, ka patoek, nangcae bokhaih hoi nam khueng o haih ahmuen ah ka thum thai mak ai.
22 Yes, though you offer me your burnt offerings and meal offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat animals.
Nangcae mah kai khaeah hmai angbawnhaih hoi cang paekhaih to nang sin o, toe ka talawk mak ai, angdaeh angbawnhaih ah kathawk moi nang sin o cadoeh, ka la mak ai.
23 Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Laa na sak o haih loknawk to kalah bangah caeh o haih ving ah, nangcae ih kamding katoeng lok doeh ka tahngai mak ai.
24 But let justice roll on like rivers, and righteousness like a mighty stream.
Toe toenghaih to tui baktiah long nasoe loe, katoeng poekhaih doeh kakaang thai ai vacong tui baktiah long nasoe.
25 “Did you bring to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, house of Israel?
Aw Israel imthung takoh, praezaek ah saning qui palito thung kai khaeah angbawnhaih hoi hmuenpaekhaih to nang sin o maw?
26 You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.
Nangmacae ih sithaw Molok ih kahni im hoi nangmacae ih sithaw, nangmacae han na sak o ih Khi-un cakaeh krang to na ai maw kasang ah na pakoeh o.
27 Therefore I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Armies.
To pongah nangcae loe Damaska yaeh ah tamna baktiah kang patoeh han, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Sithaw, tiah ahmin kaom, Angraeng mah thuih.
