Matthew 5
1 Seeing the multitude of people, Jesus went up the Hill. There He seated Himself, and when His disciples came to Him,
E quando [Jesus] viu as multidões, subiu a um monte; e sentando-se, achegaram-se a ele os seus discípulos.
2 He proceeded to teach them, and said:
Então ele abriu sua boca e lhes ensinou, dizendo:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
Benditos são os humildes de espírito, porque deles é o Reino dos céus.
4 "Blessed are the mourners, for they shall be comforted.
Benditos são os que choram, porque eles serão consolados.
5 "Blessed are the meek, for they as heirs shall obtain possession of the earth.
Benditos são os mansos, porque eles herdarão a terra.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be completely satisfied.
Benditos são os que têm fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão saciados.
7 "Blessed are the compassionate, for they shall receive compassion.
Benditos são os misericordiosos, porque eles alcançarão misericórdia.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Benditos são os limpos de coração, porque eles verão a Deus.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for it is they who will be recognized as sons of God.
Benditos são os pacíficos, porque eles serão chamados filhos de Deus.
10 "Blessed are those who have borne persecution in the cause of Righteousness, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
Benditos são os que sofrem perseguição por causa da justiça, porque deles é o Reino dos céus.
11 "Blessed are you when they have insulted and persecuted you, and have said every cruel thing about you falsely for my sake.
Benditos sois vós, quando vos insultarem, perseguirem, e mentirem, falando contra vós todo mal por minha causa.
12 Be joyful and triumphant, because your reward is great in the Heavens; for so were the Prophets before you persecuted.
Jubilai e alegrai-vos, porque grande é vossa recompensa nos céus; pois assim perseguiram aos profetas que foram antes de vós.
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has become tasteless, in what way can it regain its saltness? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown away and trodden on by the passers by.
Vós sois o sal da terra; mas se o sal perder seu sabor, com que se salgará? Para nada mais presta, a não ser para se lançar fora, e ser pisado pelas pessoas.
14 You are the light of the world; a town cannot be hid if built on a hill-top.
Vós sois a luz do mundo; não se pode esconder uma cidade fundada sobre o monte;
15 Nor is a lamp lighted to be put under a bushel, but on the lampstand; and then it gives light to all in the house.
Nem se acende a lâmpada para se pôr debaixo de um cesto, mas sim na luminária, e ilumina a todos quantos estão na casa.
16 Just so let your light shine before all men, in order that they may see your holy lives and may give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.
Assim brilhe vossa luz diante das pessoas, para que vejam vossas boas obras, e glorifiquem ao vosso Pai, que está nos céus.
17 "Do not for a moment suppose that I have come to abrogate the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abrogate them but to give them their completion.
Não penseis que vim para revogar a Lei ou os Profetas; não vim para revogar, mas sim para cumprir.
18 Solemnly I tell you that until Heaven and earth pass away, not one iota or smallest detail will pass away from the Law until all has taken place.
Porque em verdade vos digo que, até que o céu e a terra passem, nem um jota nem um til passará da Lei até que tudo se cumpra.
19 Whoever therefore breaks one of these least commandments and teaches others to break them, will be called the least in the Kingdom of the Heavens; but whoever practises them and teaches them, he will be acknowledged as great in the Kingdom of the Heavens.
Portanto qualquer um que desobedecer a um destes menores mandamentos, e assim ensinar às pessoas, será chamado o menor no Reino dos céus; porém qualquer que [os] cumprir e ensinar, esse será chamado grande no Reino dos céus.
20 For I assure you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses that of the Scribes and the Pharisees, you will certainly not find entrance into the Kingdom of the Heavens.
Porque eu vos digo que se a vossa justiça não for maior que a dos escribas e dos fariseus, de maneira nenhuma entrareis no Reino dos céus.
21 "You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not commit murder', and whoever commits murder will be answerable to the magistrate.
Ouvistes o que foi dito aos antigos: “Não cometerás homicídio”; “mas qualquer um que cometer homicídio será réu do julgamento”.
22 But I say to you that every one who becomes angry with his brother shall be answerable to the magistrate; that whoever says to his brother 'Raca,' shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin; and that whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the Gehenna of Fire. (Geenna g1067)
Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que se irar contra seu irmão será réu do julgamento. E qualquer um que disser a seu irmão: “Idiota!” será réu do tribunal. E qualquer que [lhe] disser: “Louco!” será réu do fogo do inferno. (Geenna g1067)
23 If therefore when you are offering your gift upon the altar, you remember that your brother has a grievance against you,
Portanto, se trouxeres tua oferta ao altar, e ali te lembrares que teu irmão tem algo contra ti,
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go and make friends with your brother first, and then return and proceed to offer your gift.
Deixa ali tua oferta diante do altar e vai primeiro reconciliar-te com teu irmão, e então vem oferecer a tua oferta.
25 Come to terms without delay with your opponent while you are yet with him on the way to the court; for fear he should obtain judgement from the magistrate against you, and the magistrate should give you in custody to the officer and you be thrown into prison.
Faze acordo depressa com teu adversário, enquanto estás com ele no caminho, para não acontecer que o adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz ao oficial, e te lancem na prisão.
26 I solemnly tell you that you will certainly not be released till you have paid the very last farthing.
Em verdade te digo que não sairás dali enquanto não pagares a última moeda.
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.'
Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Não adulterarás”.
28 But I tell you that whoever looks at a woman and cherishes lustful thoughts has already in his heart become guilty with regard to her.
Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que olhar para uma mulher para a cobiçar, em seu coração já adulterou com ela.
29 If therefore your eye, even the right eye, is a snare to you, tear it out and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should be thrown into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
Se o teu olho direito te faz pecar, arranca-o e lança-o de ti; porque é melhor para ti que um dos teus membros se perca do que o teu corpo todo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if your right hand is a snare to you, cut it off and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should go into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
E se a tua mão direita te faz pecar, corta-a e lança-a de ti; porque é melhor para ti que um dos teus membros se perca do que o teu corpo todo vá ao inferno. (Geenna g1067)
31 "It was also said, 'If any man puts away his wife, let him give her a written notice of divorce.'
Também foi dito: “Qualquer um que se divorciar de sua mulher, dê a ela carta de divórcio.
32 But I tell you that every man who puts away his wife except on the ground of unfaithfulness causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries her when so divorced commits adultery.
Porém eu vos digo que qualquer um que se divorciar de sua mulher, a menos que seja por causa de pecado sexual, faz com que ela adultere; e qualquer um que se casar com a divorciada comete adultério.
33 "Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not swear falsely, but shalt perform thy vows to the Lord.'
Também ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: “Não jurarás falsamente”, “mas cumprirás ao Senhor os teus juramentos”.
34 But I tell you not to swear at all; neither by Heaven, for it is God's throne;
Porém eu vos digo que de maneira nenhuma jureis; nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus;
35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool under His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the City of the Great King.
Nem pela terra, porque é o suporte de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei.
36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
Nem por tua cabeça jurarás, pois nem sequer um cabelo podes tornar branco ou preto.
37 But let your language be, 'Yes, yes,' or 'No, no.' Anything in excess of this comes from the Evil one.
Mas seja vosso falar: “sim”, “sim”, “não”, “não”; porque o que disso passa procede do maligno.
38 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.'
Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Olho por olho, e dente por dente”.
39 But I tell you not to resist a wicked man, but if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
Mas eu vos digo que não resistais a quem for mau; em vez disso, a qualquer um que te bater à tua face direita, apresenta-lhe também a outra.
40 If any one wishes to go to law with you and to deprive you of your under garment, let him take your outer one also.
E ao que quiser disputar contigo, e te tomar tua túnica, deixa-lhe também a capa.
41 And whoever shall compel you to convey his goods one mile, go with him two.
E se qualquer um te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas.
42 To him who asks, give: from him who would borrow, turn not away.
Dá a quem te pedir; e não te desvies de quem quiser de ti tomar emprestado.
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.'
Ouvistes o que foi dito: “Amarás teu próximo”, e “odiarás teu inimigo”.
44 But I command you all, love your enemies, and pray for your persecutors;
Porém eu vos digo: amai vossos inimigos e orai pelos que vos perseguem,
45 that so you may become true sons of your Father in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the wicked as well as the good, and sends rain upon those who do right and those who do wrong.
Para que sejais filhos de vosso Pai que está nos céus; porque ele faz seu sol sair sobre maus e bons, e chover sobre justos e injustos.
46 For if you love only those who love you, what reward have you earned? Do not even the tax-gatherers do that?
Pois se amardes os que vos amam, que recompensa tereis? Não fazem os publicanos também o mesmo?
47 And if you salute only your near relatives, what praise is due to you? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
E se saudardes somente os vossos irmãos, o que fazeis de mais? Não fazem os gentios também assim?
48 You however are to be complete in goodness, as your Heavenly Father is complete.
Portanto, sede vós perfeitos, assim como vosso Pai celestial é perfeito.
