Matthew 5
1 Seeing the multitude of people, Jesus went up the Hill. There He seated Himself, and when His disciples came to Him,
അവൻ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടാറെ മലമേൽ കയറി. അവൻ ഇരുന്നശേഷം ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.
2 He proceeded to teach them, and said:
അവൻ തിരുവായ്മൊഴിഞ്ഞു അവരോടു ഉപദേശിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
ആത്മാവിൽ ദരിദ്രരായവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യം അവൎക്കുള്ളതു.
4 "Blessed are the mourners, for they shall be comforted.
ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവൎക്കു ആശ്വാസം ലഭിക്കും.
5 "Blessed are the meek, for they as heirs shall obtain possession of the earth.
സൌമ്യതയുള്ളവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവർ ഭൂമിയെ അവകാശമാക്കും.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be completely satisfied.
നീതിക്കു വിശന്നു ദാഹിക്കുന്നവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവൎക്കു തൃപ്തിവരും.
7 "Blessed are the compassionate, for they shall receive compassion.
കരുണയുള്ളവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവൎക്കു കരുണ ലഭിക്കും.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
ഹൃദയശുദ്ധിയുള്ളവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവർ ദൈവത്തെ കാണും.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for it is they who will be recognized as sons of God.
സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
10 "Blessed are those who have borne persecution in the cause of Righteousness, for to them belongs the Kingdom of the Heavens.
നീതിനിമിത്തം ഉപദ്രവിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവർ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ; സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യം അവൎക്കുള്ളതു.
11 "Blessed are you when they have insulted and persecuted you, and have said every cruel thing about you falsely for my sake.
എന്റെ നിമിത്തം നിങ്ങളെ പഴിക്കയും ഉപദ്രവിക്കയും നിങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു എല്ലാ തിന്മയും കളവായി പറകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാർ.
12 Be joyful and triumphant, because your reward is great in the Heavens; for so were the Prophets before you persecuted.
സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതിഫലം വലുതാകകൊണ്ടു സന്തോഷിച്ചുല്ലസിപ്പിൻ; നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും അവർ അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചുവല്ലോ.
13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has become tasteless, in what way can it regain its saltness? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown away and trodden on by the passers by.
നിങ്ങൾ ഭൂമിയുടെ ഉപ്പാകുന്നു; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെപോയാൽ അതിന്നു എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു രസം വരുത്താം? പുറത്തു കളഞ്ഞിട്ടു മനുഷ്യർ ചവിട്ടുവാൻ അല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നിന്നും പിന്നെ കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല.
14 You are the light of the world; a town cannot be hid if built on a hill-top.
നിങ്ങൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു; മലമേൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണം മറഞ്ഞിരിപ്പാൻ പാടില്ല.
15 Nor is a lamp lighted to be put under a bushel, but on the lampstand; and then it gives light to all in the house.
വിളക്കു കത്തിച്ചു പറയിൻകീഴെയല്ല തണ്ടിന്മേലത്രെ വെക്കുന്നതു; അപ്പോൾ അതു വീട്ടിലുള്ള എല്ലാവൎക്കും പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.
16 Just so let your light shine before all men, in order that they may see your holy lives and may give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.
അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ മനുഷ്യർ നിങ്ങളുടെ നല്ല പ്രവൃത്തികളെ കണ്ടു, സ്വൎഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിനെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ വെളിച്ചം അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കട്ടെ.
17 "Do not for a moment suppose that I have come to abrogate the Law or the Prophets: I have not come to abrogate them but to give them their completion.
ഞാൻ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെയോ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയോ നീക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കരുതു; നീക്കുവാനല്ല നിവൎത്തിപ്പാനത്രെ ഞാൻ വന്നതു.
18 Solemnly I tell you that until Heaven and earth pass away, not one iota or smallest detail will pass away from the Law until all has taken place.
സത്യമായിട്ടു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുംവരെ സകലവും നിവൃത്തിയാകുവോളം ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒരു വള്ളി എങ്കിലും പുള്ളി എങ്കിലും ഒരുനാളും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല.
19 Whoever therefore breaks one of these least commandments and teaches others to break them, will be called the least in the Kingdom of the Heavens; but whoever practises them and teaches them, he will be acknowledged as great in the Kingdom of the Heavens.
ആകയാൽ ഈ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ കല്പനകളിൽ ഒന്നു അഴിക്കയും മനുഷ്യരെ അങ്ങനെ പഠിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയവൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും; അവയെ ആചരിക്കയും പഠിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നോ സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിൽ വലിയവൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.
20 For I assure you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses that of the Scribes and the Pharisees, you will certainly not find entrance into the Kingdom of the Heavens.
നിങ്ങളുടെ നീതി ശാസ്ത്രിമാരുടെയും പരീശന്മാരുടെയും നീതിയെ കവിയുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ സ്വൎഗ്ഗരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
21 "You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not commit murder', and whoever commits murder will be answerable to the magistrate.
കുല ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നും ആരെങ്കിലും കുല ചെയ്താൽ ന്യായവിധിക്കു യോഗ്യനാകും എന്നും പൂൎവ്വന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
22 But I say to you that every one who becomes angry with his brother shall be answerable to the magistrate; that whoever says to his brother 'Raca,' shall be answerable to the Sanhedrin; and that whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the Gehenna of Fire. (Geenna g1067)
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: സഹോദരനോടു കോപിക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ന്യായവിധിക്കു യോഗ്യനാകും; സഹോദരനോടു നിസ്സാര എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ ന്യായാധിപസഭയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നിൽക്കേണ്ടി വരും; മൂഢാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ അഗ്നിനരകത്തിനു യോഗ്യനാകും. (Geenna g1067)
23 If therefore when you are offering your gift upon the altar, you remember that your brother has a grievance against you,
ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ വഴിപാടു യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുമ്പോൾ സഹോദരന്നു നിന്റെ നേരെ വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു ഓൎമ്മവന്നാൽ
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go and make friends with your brother first, and then return and proceed to offer your gift.
നിന്റെ വഴിപാടു അവിടെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചേച്ചു, ഒന്നാമതു ചെന്നു സഹോദരനോടു നിരന്നുകൊൾക; പിന്നെ വന്നു നിന്റെ വഴിപാടു കഴിക്ക.
25 Come to terms without delay with your opponent while you are yet with him on the way to the court; for fear he should obtain judgement from the magistrate against you, and the magistrate should give you in custody to the officer and you be thrown into prison.
നിന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗിയോടുകൂടെ വഴിയിൽ ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ തന്നേ വേഗത്തിൽ അവനോടു ഇണങ്ങിക്കൊൾക; അല്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ പ്രതിയോഗി നിന്നെ ന്യായാധിപന്നും ന്യായാധിപൻ ചേവകന്നും ഏല്പിച്ചിട്ടു നീ തടവിൽ ആയ്പോകും.
26 I solemnly tell you that you will certainly not be released till you have paid the very last farthing.
ഒടുവിലത്തെ കാശുപോലും കൊടുത്തു തീരുവോളം നീ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറത്തു വരികയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു.
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.'
വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
28 But I tell you that whoever looks at a woman and cherishes lustful thoughts has already in his heart become guilty with regard to her.
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: സ്ത്രീയെ മോഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവളെ നോക്കുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു അവളോടു വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്തുപോയി.
29 If therefore your eye, even the right eye, is a snare to you, tear it out and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should be thrown into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
എന്നാൽ വലങ്കണ്ണു നിനക്കു ഇടൎച്ചവരുത്തുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അതിനെ ചൂന്നെടുത്തു എറിഞ്ഞുകളക; നിന്റെ ശരീരം മുഴുവനും നരകത്തിൽ വീഴുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ നിന്റെ അവയവങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നു നശിക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു പ്രയോജനമത്രേ. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if your right hand is a snare to you, cut it off and away with it; it is better for you that one member should be destroyed rather than that your whole body should go into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
വലങ്കൈ നിനക്കു ഇടൎച്ചവരുത്തുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അതിനെ വെട്ടി എറിഞ്ഞുകളക; നിന്റെ ശരീരം മുഴുവനും നരകത്തിൽ പോകുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ അവയവങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നു നശിക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു പ്രയോജനമത്രേ. (Geenna g1067)
31 "It was also said, 'If any man puts away his wife, let him give her a written notice of divorce.'
ആരെങ്കിലും ഭാൎയ്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചാൽ അവൾക്കു ഉപേക്ഷണപത്രം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
32 But I tell you that every man who puts away his wife except on the ground of unfaithfulness causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries her when so divorced commits adultery.
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: പരസംഗം ഹേതുവായിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഭാൎയ്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം അവളെക്കൊണ്ടു വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യിക്കുന്നു; ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചവളെ ആരെങ്കിലും വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചാൽ വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
33 "Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'Thou shalt not swear falsely, but shalt perform thy vows to the Lord.'
കള്ളസത്യം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നും സത്യം ചെയ്തതു കൎത്താവിന്നു നിവൎത്തിക്കേണം എന്നും പൂൎവ്വന്മാരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
34 But I tell you not to swear at all; neither by Heaven, for it is God's throne;
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: അശേഷം സത്യം ചെയ്യരുതു; സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുതു, അതു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം;
35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool under His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the City of the Great King.
ഭൂമിയെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുതു, അതു അവന്റെ പാദപീഠം; യെരൂശലേമിനെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുതു, അതു മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ നഗരം
36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
നിന്റെ തലയെക്കൊണ്ടും സത്യം ചെയ്യരുതു; ഒരു രോമവും വെളുപ്പിപ്പാനോ കറുപ്പിപ്പാനോ നിനക്കു കഴികയില്ലല്ലോ.
37 But let your language be, 'Yes, yes,' or 'No, no.' Anything in excess of this comes from the Evil one.
നിങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു ഉവ്വു, ഉവ്വു എന്നും ഇല്ല, ഇല്ല എന്നും ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ; ഇതിൽ അധികമായതു ദുഷ്ടനിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു.
38 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.'
കണ്ണിനു പകരം കണ്ണും പല്ലിന്നു പകരം പല്ലും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
39 But I tell you not to resist a wicked man, but if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: ദുഷ്ടനോടു എതിൎക്കരുതു; നിന്നെ വലത്തെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിക്കുന്നവന്നു മറ്റേതും തിരിച്ചുകാണിക്ക.
40 If any one wishes to go to law with you and to deprive you of your under garment, let him take your outer one also.
നിന്നോടു വ്യവഹരിച്ചു നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവനു നിന്റെ പുതപ്പും വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക.
41 And whoever shall compel you to convey his goods one mile, go with him two.
ഒരുത്തൻ നിന്നെ ഒരു നാഴിക വഴി പോകുവാൻ നിൎബ്ബന്ധിച്ചാൽ രണ്ടു അവനോടുകൂടെ പോക.
42 To him who asks, give: from him who would borrow, turn not away.
നിന്നോടു യാചിക്കുന്നവനു കൊടുക്ക; വായിപ്പവാങ്ങുവാൻ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവനെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുകളയരുതു.
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.'
കൂട്ടുകാരനെ സ്നേഹിക്ക എന്നും ശത്രുവിനെ പകെക്ക എന്നും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
44 But I command you all, love your enemies, and pray for your persecutors;
ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സ്നേഹിപ്പിൻ; നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നവൎക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാൎത്ഥിപ്പിൻ;
45 that so you may become true sons of your Father in Heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the wicked as well as the good, and sends rain upon those who do right and those who do wrong.
സ്വൎഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്നു പുത്രന്മാരായി തീരേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ; അവൻ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെമേലും നല്ലവരുടെമേലും തന്റെ സൂൎയ്യനെ ഉദിപ്പിക്കയും നീതിമാന്മാരുടെമേലും നീതികെട്ടവരുടെ മേലും മഴപെയ്യിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.
46 For if you love only those who love you, what reward have you earned? Do not even the tax-gatherers do that?
നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചാൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം? ചുങ്കക്കാരും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലയോ?
47 And if you salute only your near relatives, what praise is due to you? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?
സഹോദരന്മാരെ മാത്രം വന്ദനം ചെയ്താൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്തു വിശേഷം ചെയ്യുന്നു? ജാതികളും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലയോ?
48 You however are to be complete in goodness, as your Heavenly Father is complete.
ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വൎഗ്ഗീയപിതാവു സൽഗുണപൂൎണ്ണൻ ആയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളും സൽഗുണപൂൎണ്ണരാകുവിൻ.
