< Matthew 4 >

1 At that time Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the Desert in order to be tempted by the Devil.
Nígbà náà ni Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ darí Jesu sí ijù láti dán an wò láti ọwọ́ èṣù.
2 There He fasted for forty days and nights; and after that He suffered from hunger.
Lẹ́yìn tí Òun ti gbààwẹ̀ ní ogójì ọ̀sán àti ogójì òru, ebi sì ń pa á.
3 So the Tempter came and said, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to turn into loaves."
Nígbà náà ni olùdánwò tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó wí pé, “Bí ìwọ bá ṣe Ọmọ Ọlọ́run, pàṣẹ kí òkúta wọ̀nyí di àkàrà.”
4 "It is written," replied Jesus, "'It is not on bread alone that a man shall live, but on whatsoever God shall appoint.'"
Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu dáhùn pé, “A ti kọ ìwé rẹ̀ pé: ‘Ènìyàn kì yóò wà láààyè nípa àkàrà nìkan, bí kò ṣe nípa gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ ti ó ti ẹnu Ọlọ́run jáde wá.’”
5 Then the Devil took Him to the Holy City and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple,
Lẹ́yìn èyí ni èṣù gbé e lọ sí ìlú mímọ́ náà; ó gbé e lé ibi ṣóńṣó tẹmpili.
6 and said, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, "'To His angels He will give orders concerning thee, and on their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'"
Ó wí pé, “Bí ìwọ̀ bá jẹ́ Ọmọ Ọlọ́run, bẹ́ sílẹ̀ fún ara rẹ. A sá à ti kọ̀wé rẹ̀ pé, “‘Yóò pàṣẹ fún àwọn angẹli rẹ̀ nítorí tìrẹ wọn yóò sì gbé ọ sókè ni ọwọ́ wọn kí ìwọ kí ó má ba à fi ẹsẹ̀ rẹ gbún òkúta.’”
7 "Again it is written," replied Jesus, "'Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof.'"
Jesu sì dalóhùn, “A sá à ti kọ ọ́ pé, ‘Ìwọ kò gbọdọ̀ dán Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ wò.’”
8 Then the Devil took Him to the top of an exceedingly lofty mountain, from which he caused Him to see all the Kingdoms of the world and their splendour,
Lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i, èṣù gbé e lọ sórí òkè gíga, ó sì fi gbogbo ilẹ̀ ọba ayé àti gbogbo ògo wọn hàn án.
9 and said to Him, "All this I will give you, if you will kneel down and do me homage."
Ó sì wí fún un pé, “Gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni èmi yóò fi fún ọ, bí ìwọ bá foríbalẹ̀ tí o sì sìn mi.”
10 "Begone, Satan!" Jesus replied; "for it is written, 'To the Lord thy God thou shalt do homage, and to Him alone shalt thou render worship.'"
Jesu wí fún un pé, “Padà kúrò lẹ́yìn mi, Satani! Nítorí a ti kọ ọ́ pé, ‘Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ ni kí ìwọ kí ó fi orí balẹ̀ fún, òun nìkan ṣoṣo ni kí ìwọ máa sìn.’”
11 Thereupon the Devil left Him, and angels at once came and ministered to Him.
Nígbà náà ni èṣù fi í sílẹ̀ lọ, àwọn angẹli sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá, wọ́n sì ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún un.
12 Now when Jesus heard that John was thrown into prison, He withdrew into Galilee,
Nígbà tí Jesu gbọ́ wí pé a ti fi Johanu sínú túbú ó padà sí Galili.
13 and leaving Nazareth He went and settled at Capernaum, a town by the Lake on the frontiers of Zebulun and Naphtali,
Ó kúrò ní Nasareti, ó sì lọ í gbé Kapernaumu, èyí tí ó wà létí Òkun Sebuluni àti Naftali.
14 in order that these words, spoken through the Prophet Isaiah, might be fulfilled,
Kí èyí tí a ti sọtẹ́lẹ̀ láti ẹnu wòlíì Isaiah lè ṣẹ pé,
15 "Zebulun's land and Naphtali's land; the road by the Lake; the country beyond the Jordan; Galilee of the Nations!
“Ìwọ Sebuluni àti ilẹ̀ Naftali ọ̀nà tó lọ sí Òkun, ní ọ̀nà Jordani, Galili ti àwọn kèfèrí.
16 The people who were dwelling in darkness have seen a brilliant light; and on those who were dwelling in the region of the shadow of death, on them light has dawned."
Àwọn ènìyàn tí ń gbé ni òkùnkùn tí ri ìmọ́lẹ̀ ńlá, àti àwọn tó ń gbé nínú ilẹ̀ òjijì ikú ni ìmọ́lẹ̀ tan fún.”
17 From that time Jesus began to preach. "Repent," He said, "for the Kingdom of the Heavens is now close at hand."
Láti ìgbà náà lọ ni Jesu ti bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí wàásù: “Ẹ ronúpìwàdà, nítorí tí ìjọba ọ̀run kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀.”
18 And walking along the shore of the Lake of Galilee He saw two brothers--Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew--throwing a drag-net into the Lake; for they were fishers.
Bí Jesu ti ń rìn létí Òkun Galili, ó rí àwọn arákùnrin méjì, Simoni, ti à ń pè ní Peteru, àti Anderu arákùnrin rẹ̀. Wọ́n ń sọ àwọ̀n wọn sínú Òkun nítorí apẹja ni wọ́n.
19 And He said to them, "Come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ wá, ẹ máa tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn èmi yóò sì sọ yín di apẹja ènìyàn.”
20 So they immediately left their nets and followed Him. As He went further on,
Lójúkan náà, wọ́n fi àwọ̀n wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.
21 He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zabdi and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zabdi mending their nets; and He called them.
Bí ó sì ti kúrò ní ibẹ̀, ò rí àwọn arákùnrin méjì mìíràn, Jakọbu ọmọ Sebede àti Johanu, arákùnrin rẹ̀. Wọ́n wà nínú ọkọ̀ ojú omi pẹ̀lú Sebede baba wọn, wọ́n ń di àwọ̀n wọn, Jesu sì pè àwọn náà pẹ̀lú.
22 And they at once left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Lójúkan náà, wọ́n fi ọkọ̀ ojú omi àti baba wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.
23 Then Jesus travelled through all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and infirmity among the people.
Jesu sì rin káàkiri gbogbo Galili, ó ń kọ́ni ní Sinagọgu, ó ń wàásù ìyìnrere ti ìjọba ọ̀run, ó sì ń ṣe ìwòsàn ààrùn gbogbo àti àìsàn láàrín gbogbo ènìyàn.
24 Thus His fame spread through all Syria; and they brought all the sick to Him, the people who were suffering from various diseases and pains--demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He cured them.
Òkìkí rẹ̀ sì kàn yí gbogbo Siria ká; wọ́n sì gbé àwọn aláìsàn tí ó ní onírúurú ààrùn, àwọn tí ó ní ìnira ẹ̀mí èṣù, àti àwọn ti o ní wárápá àti àwọn tí ó ní ẹ̀gbà; ó sì wò wọ́n sàn.
25 And great crowds followed Him, coming from Galilee, from the Ten Towns, from Jerusalem, and from beyond the district on the other side of the Jordan.
Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ènìyàn láti Galili, Dekapoli, Jerusalẹmu, Judea, àti láti òkè odò Jordani sì tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.
