< Matthew 4 >

1 At that time Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the Desert in order to be tempted by the Devil.
Awo Yesu n’atwalibwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu mu ddungu okukemebwa Setaani.
2 There He fasted for forty days and nights; and after that He suffered from hunger.
N’amala ennaku amakumi ana ng’asiiba, nga talya, emisana n’ekiro, oluvannyuma enjala n’emuluma.
3 So the Tempter came and said, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to turn into loaves."
Setaani n’ajja gy’ali n’amugamba nti, “Obanga oli Mwana wa Katonda, lagira amayinja gano gafuuke emmere.”
4 "It is written," replied Jesus, "'It is not on bread alone that a man shall live, but on whatsoever God shall appoint.'"
Naye Yesu n’amuddamu nti, “Kyawandiikibwa nti: ‘Omuntu tabeera mulamu na mmere yokka, wabula na buli kigambo ekiva mu kamwa ka Katonda.’”
5 Then the Devil took Him to the Holy City and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple,
Awo Setaani n’amutwala mu kibuga ekitukuvu n’amussa ku kitikkiro kya Yeekaalu.
6 and said, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, "'To His angels He will give orders concerning thee, and on their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'"
N’amugamba nti, “Obanga oli Mwana wa Katonda weesuule wansi kubanga kyawandiikibwa nti, ‘Katonda aliweereza bamalayika be bakuwanirire mu mikono gyabwe oleme okwekoona ekigere kyo ku jjinja.’”
7 "Again it is written," replied Jesus, "'Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof.'"
Yesu n’addamu Setaani nti, “Kyawandiikibwa nti, ‘Tokemanga Mukama Katonda wo.’”
8 Then the Devil took Him to the top of an exceedingly lofty mountain, from which he caused Him to see all the Kingdoms of the world and their splendour,
Ate Setaani n’amutwala ku lusozi oluwanvu n’amulengeza ensi zonna n’obwakabaka bwamu n’ekitiibwa kyabwo kyonna,
9 and said to Him, "All this I will give you, if you will kneel down and do me homage."
n’amugamba nti, “Bino byonna nnaabikuwa bw’onoovuunama n’onsinza.”
10 "Begone, Satan!" Jesus replied; "for it is written, 'To the Lord thy God thou shalt do homage, and to Him alone shalt thou render worship.'"
Yesu n’addamu nti, “Vvaawo, genda Setaani. Kyawandiikibwa nti, ‘Osinzanga Mukama Katonda wo yekka, era gw’oweerezanga.’”
11 Thereupon the Devil left Him, and angels at once came and ministered to Him.
Setaani n’amuviira n’agenda. Bamalayika ne bajja ne bamuweereza.
12 Now when Jesus heard that John was thrown into prison, He withdrew into Galilee,
Yesu bwe yawulira nga Yokaana bamusibye mu kkomera n’agenda e Ggaliraaya.
13 and leaving Nazareth He went and settled at Capernaum, a town by the Lake on the frontiers of Zebulun and Naphtali,
Bwe yava e Nazaaleesi n’agenda abeera e Kaperunawumu ekiri ku lubalama lw’ennyanja mu byalo by’e Zebbulooni n’e Nafutaali.
14 in order that these words, spoken through the Prophet Isaiah, might be fulfilled,
Kino ne kituukiriza ekyayogerwa nnabbi Isaaya ng’agamba nti,
15 "Zebulun's land and Naphtali's land; the road by the Lake; the country beyond the Jordan; Galilee of the Nations!
“Ensi ya Zebbulooni n’ensi ya Nafutaali, okuliraana ennyanja, n’ebyalo ebiri emitala w’omugga Yoludaani, n’e Ggaliraaya ey’ekyengulu omuli bannaggwanga abangi,
16 The people who were dwelling in darkness have seen a brilliant light; and on those who were dwelling in the region of the shadow of death, on them light has dawned."
abantu abaatuulanga mu kizikiza, balabye Omusana mungi. Abaatuulanga mu nsi ey’ekisiikirize eky’okufa, omusana gubaakidde.”
17 From that time Jesus began to preach. "Repent," He said, "for the Kingdom of the Heavens is now close at hand."
Okuva mu kiseera ekyo Yesu n’atandika okubuulira nti, “Mwenenye, kubanga obwakabaka obw’omu ggulu busembedde.”
18 And walking along the shore of the Lake of Galilee He saw two brothers--Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew--throwing a drag-net into the Lake; for they were fishers.
Yesu bwe yali ng’atambula ku lubalama lw’ennyanja y’e Ggaliraaya n’alaba abooluganda babiri: Simooni, gwe bayita Peetero, ne Andereya, nga basuula obutimba bwabwe mu nnyanja, kubanga baali bavubi.
19 And He said to them, "Come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Awo Yesu, n’abagamba nti, “Mujje mungoberere, nange ndibafuula abavubi b’abantu.”
20 So they immediately left their nets and followed Him. As He went further on,
Amangwago ne baleka awo obutimba bwabwe, ne bamugoberera.
21 He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zabdi and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zabdi mending their nets; and He called them.
Bwe yeeyongerayo katono, n’asanga abooluganda abalala babiri: Yakobo, ne Yokaana, nga batudde ne kitaabwe Zebbedaayo mu lyato nga baddaabiriza obutimba bwabwe, nabo n’abayita bamugoberere.
22 And they at once left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Amangwago, ne baleka awo kitaabwe mu lyato ne bagenda naye.
23 Then Jesus travelled through all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and infirmity among the people.
Yesu n’abuna wonna mu Ggaliraaya ng’ayigiriza mu makuŋŋaaniro g’Abayudaaya ng’abuulira Enjiri ey’obwakabaka obw’omu ggulu, era ng’awonya buli ndwadde yonna n’obuyongobevu bwonna mu bantu.
24 Thus His fame spread through all Syria; and they brought all the sick to Him, the people who were suffering from various diseases and pains--demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He cured them.
Amawulire ag’ebyamagero bye yakolanga ne gatuuka mu Siriya yonna. Ne bamuleetera abayongobevu, n’abalina ebibabonyaabonya, n’ab’ensimbu n’abo abaaliko baddayimooni, abakoozimbye n’ab’endwadde endala ezitali zimu, bonna n’abawonya.
25 And great crowds followed Him, coming from Galilee, from the Ten Towns, from Jerusalem, and from beyond the district on the other side of the Jordan.
Ebibiina binene ne bimugoberera, abantu nga bava mu Ggaliraaya ne mu Dekapoli, ne mu Yerusaalemi ne mu Buyudaaya yonna, n’emitala w’omugga Yoludaani.
