Matthew 22
1 Again Jesus spoke to them in figurative language.
Und Jesus redete nochmals in Gleichnissen zu ihnen:
2 "The Kingdom of the Heavens," He said, "may be compared to a king who celebrated the marriage of his son,
"Das Himmelreich ist einem Könige gleich, der seinem Sohne Hochzeit hielt.
3 and sent his servants to call the invited guests to the wedding, but they were unwilling to come.
Er sandte seine Knechte aus, um die Eingeladenen zum Feste herbeizurufen.
4 "Again he sent other servants with a message to those who were invited. "'My breakfast is now ready," he said, 'my bullocks and fat cattle are killed, and every preparation is made: come to the wedding.'
Doch diese wollten nicht kommen. Er schickte nochmals andere Knechte mit dem Auftrag aus: 'Sagt den Geladenen: Seht, mein Gastmahl ist bereitet, meine Ochsen und das Mastvieh sind geschlachtet; alles steht bereit; kommt zur Hochzeit! '
5 "They however gave no heed, but went, one to his home in the country, another to his business;
Doch diese gingen unbekümmert weiter: Der eine auf seinen Acker, ein anderer in sein Geschäft.
6 and the rest seized the king's servants, maltreated them, and murdered them.
Der Rest fiel über seine Knechte her, mißhandelte und erschlug sie.
7 So the king's anger was stirred, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burnt their city.
Da ward der König zornig. Er schickte seine Heere hin, ließ jene Mörder töten und ihre Stadt in Brand stecken.
8 Then he said to his servants, "'The wedding banquet is ready, but those who were invited were unworthy of it.
Darauf sprach er zu seinen Knechten: 'Das Hochzeitsmahl ist bereitet; doch die Geladenen waren dessen nicht wert.
9 Go out therefore to the crossroads, and everybody you meet invite to the wedding.'
So geht denn an die Straßenausgänge und ruft zur Hochzeit, wen immer ihr findet.'
10 "So they went out into the roads and gathered together all they could find, both bad and good, and the banqueting hall was filled with guests.
Die Knechte gingen auf die Straßen und brachten alle, die sie gerade fanden, Böse und Gute; und der Hochzeitssaal füllte sich mit Gästen.
11 "Now the king came in to see the guests; and among them he discovered one who was not wearing a wedding-robe.
Der König trat herein, um sich die Gäste anzusehen. Dort sah er einen Menschen, der kein hochzeitliches Gewand anhatte.
12 "'My friend,' he said, 'how is it that you came in here without a wedding robe?'
Er sprach zu ihm: 'Freund, wie bist du ohne hochzeitliches Gewand hereingekommen?' Doch dieser schwieg.
13 "The man stood speechless. Then the king said to the servants, "'Bind him hand and foot and fling him into the darkness outside: there will be the weeping aloud and the gnashing of teeth.'
Darauf gebot der König seinen Knechten: 'Bindet ihn an Füßen und an Händen und werft ihn in die äußerste Finsternis hinaus; dort wird Heulen und Zähneknirschen sein.'
14 "For there are many called, but few chosen."
Denn viele sind berufen, wenige aber auserwählt."
15 Then the Pharisees went and consulted together how they might entrap Him in His conversation.
Die Pharisäer gingen darauf hin und überlegten, wie sie ihm mit einer Frage eine Falle stellen könnten.
16 So they sent to Him their disciples together with the Herodians; who said, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and that you faithfully teach God's truth; and that no fear of man misleads you, for you are not biased by men's wealth or rank.
Sie schickten ihre Schüler mit den Herodianern zu ihm mit der Frage: "Meister, wir wissen, daß du wahrhaftig bist und den Weg Gottes in Wahrheit lehrst; du fragst nach niemand, denn du siehst nicht auf die Person der Menschen.
17 Give us your judgement therefore: is it allowable for us to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not?"
So sage uns denn, was meinst du wohl: Darf man dem Kaiser Steuer zahlen oder nicht?"
18 Perceiving their wickedness, Jesus replied, "Why are you hypocrites trying to ensnare me?
Doch Jesus erkannte ihre Bosheit und sprach: "Warum versuchet ihr mich, ihr Heuchler?
19 Show me the tribute coin." And they brought Him a shilling.
Zeigt mir die Steuermünze!" Da reichten sie ihm einen Denar.
20 "Whose likeness and inscription," He asked, "is this?"
Er fragte sie: "Wessen Bild und Aufschrift ist dies?"
21 "Caesar's," they replied. "Pay therefore," He rejoined, "what is Caesar's to Caesar; and what is God's to God."
Sie gaben ihm zur Antwort: "Des Kaisers." Da sagte er zu ihnen: "So gebet also dem Kaiser, was des Kaisers, und Gott, was Gottes ist."
22 They heard this, and were astonished; then left Him, and went their way.
Als sie dies hörten, staunten sie, verließen ihn und gingen weg.
23 On the same day a party of Sadducees came to Him, contending that there is no resurrection. And they put this case to Him.
Am selben Tage kamen zu ihm Sadduzäer - diese leugnen, daß es eine Auferstehung gibt.
24 "Teacher," they said, "Moses enjoined, 'If a man die childless, his brother shall marry his widow, and raise up a family for him.'
Sie sagten: "Meister, Moses hat geboten: 'Wenn einer stirbt, ohne daß er Kinder hinterläßt, dann soll sein Bruder dessen Weib heiraten und dem Bruder Nachkommen erwecken.'
25 Now we had among us seven brothers. The eldest of them married, but died childless, leaving his wife to his brother.
Nun waren bei uns sieben Brüder. Der erste heiratete und starb. Und weil er keine Kinder hatte, hinterließ er sein Weib seinem Bruder.
26 So also did the second and the third, down to the seventh,
Und ebenso erging es dem zweiten, dem dritten bis zum siebten.
27 till the woman also died, after surviving them all.
Zuletzt von allen starb das Weib.
28 At the Resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? for they all married her."
Wem von den sieben wird sie als Weib bei der Auferstehung angehören; denn alle haben sie gehabt?"
29 The reply of Jesus was, "You are in error, through ignorance of the Scriptures and of the power of God.
Jesus antwortete ihnen: "Ihr seid im Irrtum. Denn ihr versteht weder die Schrift noch die Allmacht Gottes.
30 For in the Resurrection, men neither marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in Heaven.
Die Auferstandenen heiraten nicht und werden auch nicht mehr verheiratet; sie sind vielmehr wie Engel Gottes im Himmel.
31 But as to the Resurrection of the dead, have you never read what God says to you,
Und weiter, über die Auferstehung von den Toten habt ihr da den Ausspruch Gottes nicht gelesen:
32 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of dead, but of living men."
'Ich bin der Gott Abrahams, der Gott Isaaks und der Gott Jakobs'? Gott ist doch nicht ein Gott der Toten, sondern der Lebendigen."
33 All the crowd heard this, and were filled with amazement at His teaching.
Die Scharen hörten dies und staunten über seine Lehre.
34 Now the Pharisees came up when they heard that He had silenced the Sadducees,
Als die Pharisäer hörten, daß er so die Sadduzäer zum Schweigen gebracht hatte, kamen sie zusammen.
35 and one of them, an expounder of the Law, asked Him as a test question,
Da wollte ihn einer aus ihnen, ein Gesetzeslehrer, versuchen;
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest Commandment in the Law?"
er fragte ihn: "Meister, welches Gebot im Gesetz ist ein großes?"
37 "'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God,'" He answered, "'with thy whole heart, thy whole soul, thy whole mind.'
Er sprach zu ihm: "'Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben, aus deinem ganzen Herzen, aus deiner ganzen Seele, aus deinem ganzen Gemüte.'
38 This is the greatest and foremost Commandment.
Dies ist das größte und das erste Gebot.
39 And the second is similar to it: 'Thou shalt love thy fellow man as much as thyself.'
Ein anderes aber ist diesem gleich: 'Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst.'
40 The whole of the Law and the Prophets is summed up in these two Commandments."
An diesen beiden Geboten hängt das ganze Gesetz und die Propheten."
41 While the Pharisees were still assembled there, Jesus put a question to them.
Wie nun die Pharisäer beieinander waren, da legte ihnen Jesus die Frage vor:
42 "What think you about the Christ," He said, "whose son is He?" "David's," they replied.
"Was haltet ihr von Christus? Wessen Sohn ist er?" Sie gaben ihm zur Antwort: "Davids Sohn."
43 "How then," He asked, "does David, taught by the Spirit, call Him Lord, when he says,
Er fragte sie weiter: "Wie kann aber David im Geist ihn 'Herr' nennen, da, wo er sagt:
44 "'The Lord said to my Lord, sit at My right hand until I have put thy foes beneath thy feet'?
'Es sprach der Herr zu meinem Herrn: Setze dich zu meiner Rechten, bis ich deine Feinde dir zu Füßen lege '?
45 "If therefore David calls Him Lord, how can He be his son?"
Wenn David ihn also 'Herr' nennt, wie ist er dann sein Sohn?"
46 No one could say a word in reply, nor from that day did any one venture again to put a question to Him.
Und niemand konnte ihm darauf ein Wort erwidern; auch wagte es von jenem Tag an keiner mehr, ihn überhaupt zu fragen.
