Matthew 17
1 Six day later, Jesus took with Him Peter and the brothers James and John, and brought them up a high mountain to a solitary place.
Sechs Tage später nahm Jesus Petrus und das Brüderpaar Jakobus und Johannes mit sich und führte sie allein auf einen hohen Berg.
2 There in their presence His form underwent a change; His face shone like the sun, and His raiment became as white as the light.
Dort trat vor ihren Augen in seinem Äußeren eine Wandlung ein: sein Antlitz strahlte wie die Sonne, und seine Kleider glänzten hell wie das Licht.
3 And suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared to them conversing with Him.
Und siehe, Mose und Elia erschienen ihnen, die hatten ein Gespräch mit ihm.
4 Then Peter said to Jesus, "Master, we are thankful to you that we are here. If you approve, I will put up three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
Da nahm Petrus das Wort und sprach zu Jesus: "Herr, es trifft sich gut, daß wir hier sind. Wenn du erlaubst, so will ich hier drei Hütten bauen, für dich eine, für Mose eine und für Elia eine."
5 He was still speaking when a luminous cloud spread over them; and a voice was heard from within the cloud, which said, "This is My Son dearly beloved, in whom is My delight. Listen to Him."
Während er noch redete, umhüllte sie plötzlich eine lichthelle Wolke, und aus der Wolke rief eine Stimme: "Dies ist mein geliebter Sohn, den ich erkoren; auf den hört!"
6 On hearing this voice, the disciples fell on their faces and were filled with terror.
Bei diesen Worten fielen die Jünger tieferschrocken auf ihr Angesicht.
7 But Jesus came and touched them, and said, "Rouse yourselves and have no fear."
Jesus aber trat zu ihnen rührte sie an und sprach: "Steht auf und fürchtet euch nicht!"
8 So they looked up, and saw no one but Jesus.
Da schlugen sie ihre Augen auf und sahen niemand als Jesus allein.
9 As they were descending the mountain, Jesus laid a command upon them. "Tell no one," He said, "of the sight you have seen till the Son of Man has risen from among the dead."
Als sie vom Berg hinabgingen, gebot ihnen Jesus: "Sagt niemand etwas von dem, was ihr gesehen, bis der Menschensohn von den Toten auferstanden ist."
10 "Why then," asked the disciples, "do the Scribes say that Elijah must first come?"
Da fragten ihn die Jünger: "Warum behaupten denn die Schriftgelehrten, Elia müsse vorher kommen?"
11 "Elijah was indeed to come," He replied, "and would reform everything.
Er antwortete: "Gewiß! Elia soll kommen und alles in Ordnung bringen.
12 But I tell you that he has already come, and they did not recognize him, but dealt with him as they chose. And before long the Son of Man will be treated by them in a similar way."
Aber ich versichere euch: Elisa ist schon gekommen; doch sie haben ihn nicht anerkannt, sondern ihren Mutwillen an ihm geübt. Ebenso wird auch der Menschensohn von ihnen leiden müssen."
13 Then it dawned upon the disciples that it was John the Baptist about whom He had spoken to them.
Da verstanden die Jünger, daß er von Johannes dem Täufer zu ihnen geredet hatte.
14 When they had returned to the people, there came to Him a man who fell on his knees before Him and besought Him.
Als sie nun zu dem Volkshaufen kamen, trat ein Mann zu ihm, der bat in fußfällig:
15 "Sir," he said, "have pity on my son, for he is an epileptic and is very ill. Often he falls into the fire and often into the water.
"Herr, erbarme dich meines Sohnes! Er ist mondsüchtig und hat schwer zu leiden: er fällt oft ins Feuer und ins Wasser.
16 I have brought him to your disciples, and they have not been able to cure him."
Ich habe ihn zu deinen Jüngern gebracht, aber sie haben ihn nicht heilen können."
17 "O unbelieving and perverse generation!" replied Jesus; "how long shall I be with you? how long shall I endure you? Bring him to me."
Jesus antwortete: "Ihr ungläubige und verkehrte Art, wie lange soll ich bei euch sein? Wie lange soll ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn mir her!"
18 Then Jesus reprimanded the demon, and it came out and left him; and the boy was cured from that moment.
Und Jesus bedrohte den bösen Geist: da fuhr er aus von dem Knaben, so daß er von Stund an gesund wurde.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked Him, "Why could not we expel the demon?"
Darauf traten die Jünger zu Jesus, als er mit ihnen allein war, und fragten: "Warum haben wir den bösen Geist nicht austreiben können?"
20 "Because your faith is so small," He replied; "for I solemnly declare to you that if you have faith like a mustard-seed, you shall say to this mountain, 'Remove from this place to that,' and it will remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.
Er antwortete ihnen: "Weil ihr so wenig Glauben habt. Denn ich versichere euch: Hättet ihr nur Glauben wie ein Senfkorn, so könntet ihr zu dem Berg da sprechen: 'Rücke von hier weg dorthin!' und er würde es tun; ja nichts wäre euch unmöglich."
21 But an evil spirit of this kind is only driven out by prayer and fasting."
22 As they were travelling about in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men;
Als sie zusammen in Galiläa wanderten, sprach Jesus zu ihnen: "Der Menschensohn wird in der Menschen Hände überliefert werden,
23 they will put Him to death, but on the third day He will be raised to life again." And they were exceedingly distressed.
und sie werden ihn töten; aber am dritten Tag wird er wieder auferstehen." Da wurden sie sehr betrübt.
24 After their arrival at Capernaum the collectors of the half-shekel came and asked Peter, "Does not your Teacher pay the half-shekel?"
Nach ihrer Ankunft in Kapernaum traten die Einnehmer der Tempelsteuer zu Petrus und fragten ihn: "Entrichtet euer Meister die Tempelsteuer nicht?"
25 "Yes," he replied, and then went into the house. But before he spoke a word Jesus said, "What think you, Simon? From whom do this world's kings receive customs or capitation tax? from their own children, or from others?"
Er antwortete: "Jawohl!" Dann ging er in das Haus (wo Jesus wohnte). Dort fragte ihn Jesus, noch ehe Petrus von dem Vorfall geredet hatte: "Was meinst du, Simon? Von wem erheben die Könige dieser Erde Zoll oder Steuer? von ihren Söhnen oder von ihren Untertanen?"
26 "From others," he replied. "Then the children go free," said Jesus.
"Von ihren Untertanen", erwiderte er. Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: "Mithin sind die Söhne steuerfrei.
27 "However, lest we cause them to sin, go and throw a hook into the Lake, and take the first fish that comes up. When you open its mouth, you will find a shekel in it: bring that coin and give it to them for yourself and me."
Damit wir aber den Leuten keinen Anstoß geben, so geh an den See und wirf die Angel aus! Den ersten Fisch, der anbeißt, den zieh empor und öffne ihm das Maul! Da wirst du eine Silbermünze finden; die nimm und gib sie ihnen für mich und dich!"
