Luke 3
1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being Governor of Judaea, Herod Tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip Tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias Tetrarch of Abilene,

2 during the High-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, a message from God came to John, the son of Zechariah, in the Desert.
ഹന്നാവും കയ്യഫാവും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരായിരുന്ന ഈ സമയത്ത്, സെഖര്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹന്നാന് മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.
3 John went into all the district about the Jordan proclaiming a baptism of the penitent for the forgiveness of sins;
അദ്ദേഹം യോർദാൻനദിക്ക് അടുത്തുള്ള ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം ചെന്ന്, ഗ്രാമവാസികൾ അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു പശ്ചാത്തപിച്ച് അവയുടെ മോചനത്തിനായി ദൈവത്തിലേക്കു തിരിയണം എന്നും; ഇതിന്റെ തെളിവിനായി സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിക്കണം എന്നും പ്രസംഗിച്ചു:
4 as it is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah, "The voice of one crying aloud! 'In the Desert prepare ye a road for the Lord: make His highway straight.
“മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളംബരംചെയ്യുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം! ‘കർത്താവിന്റെ വഴിയൊരുക്കുക; അവിടത്തേക്കുവേണ്ടി പാത നേരേയാക്കുക!
5 Every ravine shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill levelled down, the crooked places shall be turned into straight roads, and the rugged ways into smooth;
എല്ലാ താഴ്വരകളും നികത്തപ്പെടും. എല്ലാ പർവതങ്ങളും കുന്നുകളും താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും. വളഞ്ഞവഴികൾ നേരേയാക്കുകയും ദുർഘടപാതകൾ സുഗമമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
6 and then shall all mankind see God's salvation.'"
എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യരും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ രക്ഷ കാണും’” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ.
7 Accordingly John used to say to the crowds who came out to be baptized by him, "O vipers' brood, who has warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
തന്നിൽനിന്ന് സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ വന്ന ജനസഞ്ചയത്തോട് യോഹന്നാൻ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു, “അണലിക്കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ! വരാൻപോകുന്ന ക്രോധത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുമാറാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുന്നറിയിപ്പു തന്നതാരാണ്?
8 Live lives which shall prove your change of heart; and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our forefather,' for I tell you that God can raise up descendants for Abraham from these stones.
മാനസാന്തരത്തിന് അനുയോജ്യമായ ഫലം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുക. ‘ഞങ്ങൾക്കു പിതാവായി അബ്രാഹാം ഉണ്ട്’ എന്നു സ്വയം പുകഴാമെന്നു കരുതേണ്ട. കാരണം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: ഈ കല്ലുകളിൽനിന്ന് അബ്രാഹാമിനുവേണ്ടി മക്കളെ ഉളവാക്കാൻ ദൈവത്തിനു കഴിയും.
9 And even now the axe is lying at the root of the trees, so that every tree which fails to yield good fruit will quickly be hewn down and thrown into the fire."
ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ തായ്‌വേരിൽ കോടാലി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; സത്ഫലം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കാത്ത വൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാം വെട്ടി തീയിൽ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.”
10 The crowds repeatedly asked him, "What then are we to do?"
അപ്പോൾ ജനമെല്ലാം ഏകസ്വരത്തിൽ, “ഞങ്ങൾ എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
11 "Let the man who has two coats," he answered, "give one to the man who has none; and let the man who has food share it with others."
അതിനു യോഹന്നാൻ, “രണ്ട് ഉടുപ്പുള്ളയാൾ ഉടുപ്പൊന്നും ഇല്ലാത്തയാൾക്ക് ഒരുടുപ്പ് കൊടുക്കട്ടെ; ഭക്ഷണമുള്ള വ്യക്തിയും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12 There came also a party of tax-gatherers to be baptized, and they asked him, "Rabbi, what are we to do?"
നികുതിപിരിവുകാരും സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ വന്നു. “ഗുരോ, ഞങ്ങൾ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?” എന്ന് അവർ ചോദിച്ചു.
13 "Do not exact more than the legal amount," he replied.
“നിങ്ങൾക്കു കൽപ്പന കിട്ടിയിട്ടുള്ളതിൽ അധികമായ നികുതി നിങ്ങൾ ചുമത്തരുത്,” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു പ്രതിവചിച്ചു.
14 The soldiers also once and again inquired of him, "And we, what are we to do?" His answer was, "Neither intimidate any one nor lay false charges; and be content with your pay."
അപ്പോൾ ചില സൈനികർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “എന്താണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ബലം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു പണം വാങ്ങുകയോ ജനങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വ്യാജമായി കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുകയോ ചെയ്യരുത്; നിങ്ങളുടെ ശമ്പളംകൊണ്ടു തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുക,” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
15 And while the people were in suspense and all were debating in their minds whether John might possibly be the Anointed One,
തങ്ങൾ ഉൽക്കടവാഞ്ഛയോടെ കാത്തിരുന്ന ക്രിസ്തു ഈ യോഹന്നാൻതന്നെ ആയിരിക്കുകയില്ലേ? എന്ന് ജനം ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
16 he answered the question by saying to them all, "As for me, I am baptizing you with water, but One mightier than I is coming, whose very sandal-strap I am not worthy to unfasten: He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire.
അവർക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും മറുപടിയായി യോഹന്നാൻ പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ജലസ്നാനം നൽകുന്നു. എന്നാൽ എന്നെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഒരാൾ എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറഴിക്കുന്ന ഒരു അടിമയാകാൻപോലും എനിക്കു യോഗ്യതയില്ല. അദ്ദേഹം നിങ്ങൾക്ക് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടും അഗ്നികൊണ്ടും സ്നാനം നൽകും.
17 His winnowing-shovel is in His hand to clear out His threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into His storehouse; but the chaff He will burn up in fire unquenchable."
വീശുമുറം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഉണ്ട്; അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ മെതിക്കളം പൂർണമായി വെടിപ്പാക്കിയശേഷം ഗോതമ്പും പതിരും വേർതിരിച്ച് ഗോതമ്പ് കളപ്പുരയിൽ ശേഖരിക്കുകയും പതിർ കെടാത്ത തീയിൽ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളയുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
18 With many exhortations besides these he declared the Good News to the people.
ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള പല വചനങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് യോഹന്നാൻ ജനത്തെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ച് അവരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചു.
19 But Herod the Tetrarch, being repeatedly rebuked by him about Herodias his brother's wife, and about all the wicked deeds that he had done,
എന്നാൽ, ഗലീലയിലെ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ ഹെരോദാവ്, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ ഹെരോദ്യയെ സ്വന്തമാക്കി. ഇതിനുപുറമേ മറ്റനേകം ദോഷങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം ചെയ്തു. ഇതെല്ലാം നിമിത്തവും യോഹന്നാൻ ഹെരോദാവിനെ പരസ്യമായി ശാസിച്ചു.
20 now added this to crown all the rest, that he threw John into prison.
അതിനാൽ യോഹന്നാനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ അടച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഹെരോദാവ് താൻ ചെയ്തുവന്ന സകലപാതകങ്ങൾക്കും മകുടം ചാർത്തി.
21 Now when all the people had been baptized, and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the sky opened,
ഒരു ദിവസം ജനക്കൂട്ടം യോഹന്നാനിൽനിന്ന് സ്നാനം സ്വീകരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നപ്പോൾ യേശുവും വന്ന് സ്നാനമേറ്റു. അദ്ദേഹം പ്രാർഥനാനിരതനായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ സ്വർഗം തുറക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
22 and the Holy Spirit came down in bodily shape, like a dove, upon Him, and a voice came from Heaven, which said, "Thou art My Son, dearly loved: in Thee is My delight."
പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ഒരു പ്രാവിന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു. “നീ എന്റെ പ്രിയപുത്രൻ; നിന്നിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രസാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നു സ്വർഗത്തിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു അശരീരിയും ഉണ്ടായി.
23 And He--Jesus--when He began His ministry, was about thirty years old. He was the son (it was supposed) of Joseph, son of Heli,
