John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
ആദിയിൽ വചനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവം ആയിരുന്നു.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
അവൻ ആദിയിൽ ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing that exists came into being.
സകലവും അവൻമുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ഉളവായതു ഒന്നും അവനെ കൂടാതെ ഉളവായതല്ല.
4 In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men.
അവനിൽ ജീവൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ജീവൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വെളിച്ചമായിരുന്നു.
5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.
വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളിൽ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുളോ അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയില്ല.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
ദൈവം അയച്ചിട്ടു ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ വന്നു; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നു പേർ.
7 He came as a witness, in order that he might give testimony concerning the Light--so that all might believe through him.
അവൻ സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി, താൻമുഖാന്തരം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറവാൻ തന്നേ വന്നു.
8 He was not the Light, but he existed that he might give testimony concerning the Light.
അവൻ വെളിച്ചം ആയിരുന്നില്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയേണ്ടുന്നവനത്രേ.
9 The true Light was that which illumines every man by its coming into the world.
ഏതു മനുഷ്യനെയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യവെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10 He was in the world, and the world came into existence through Him, and the world did not recognize Him.
അവൻ ലോകത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ലോകം അവൻമുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ലോകമോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
11 He came to the things that were His own, and His own people gave Him no welcome.
അവൻ സ്വന്തത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു; സ്വന്തമായവരോ അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.
12 But all who have received Him, to them--that is, to those who trust in His name--He has given the privilege of becoming children of God;
അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവൎക്കും ദൈവമക്കൾ ആകുവാൻ അവൻ അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.
13 who were begotten as such not by human descent, nor through an impulse of their own nature, nor through the will of a human father, but from God.
അവർ രക്തത്തിൽ നിന്നല്ല, ജഡത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലല്ല, പുരുഷന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലുമല്ല, ദൈവത്തിൽ നിന്നത്രേ ജനിച്ചതു.
14 And the Word came in the flesh, and lived for a time in our midst, so that we saw His glory--the glory as of the Father's only Son, sent from His presence. He was full of grace and truth.
വചനം ജഡമായി തീൎന്നു, കൃപയും സത്യവും നിറഞ്ഞവനായി നമ്മുടെ ഇടയിൽ പാൎത്തു. ഞങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ തേജസ്സ് പിതാവിൽ നിന്നു ഏകജാതനായവന്റെ തേജസ്സായി കണ്ടു.
15 John gave testimony concerning Him and cried aloud, saying, "This is He of whom I said, 'He who is coming after me has been put before me,' for He was before me."
യോഹന്നാൻ അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു: എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീൎന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
16 For He it is from whose fulness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
അവന്റെ നിറവിൽ നിന്നു നമുക്കു എല്ലാവൎക്കും കൃപമേൽ കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
ന്യായപ്രമാണം മോശെമുഖാന്തരം ലഭിച്ചു; കൃപയും സത്യവും യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം വന്നു.
18 No human eye has ever seen God: the only Son, who is in the Father's bosom--He has made Him known.
ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല; പിതാവിന്റെ മടിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രൻ അവനെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
19 This also is John's testimony, when the Jews sent to him a deputation of Priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him who he was.
നീ ആർ എന്നു യോഹന്നാനോടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാർ യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ലേവ്യരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം എന്തെന്നാൽ: അവൻ മറുക്കാതെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞു;
20 He avowed--he did not conceal the truth, but avowed, "I am not the Christ."
ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല എന്നു ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 "What then?" they inquired; "are you Elijah?" "I am not," he said. "Are you the Prophet?" "No," he answered.
പിന്നെ എന്തു? നീ ഏലീയാവോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ ആ പ്രവാചകനോ? എന്നതിന്നു: അല്ല എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
22 So they pressed the question. "Who are you?" they said--"that we may take an answer to those who sent us. What account do you give of yourself?"
അവർ അവനോടു: നീ ആരാകുന്നു? ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
23 "I am the voice," he replied, "of one crying aloud, 'Make straight the Lord's way in the Desert,' fulfilling the words of the Prophet Isaiah."
അതിന്നു അവൻ: യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ: കൎത്താവിന്റെ വഴി നേരെ ആക്കുവിൻ എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 They were Pharisees who had been sent.
അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുള്ളവർ ആയിരുന്നു.
25 Again they questioned him. "Why then do you baptize," they said, "if you are neither the Christ nor Elijah nor the Prophet?"
എന്നാൽ നീ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല, ഏലീയാവല്ല, ആ പ്രവാചകനും അല്ല എന്നു വരികിൽ നീ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവർ ചോദിച്ചു.
26 "I baptize in water only," John answered, "but in your midst stands One whom you do not know--
അതിന്നു യോഹന്നാൻ: ഞാൻ വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ഒരുത്തൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നില്ക്കുന്നുണ്ടു;
27 He who is to come after me, and whose sandal-strap I am not worthy to unfasten."
എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവൻ തന്നേ; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു അഴിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ യോഗ്യൻ അല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
28 This conversation took place at Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
ഇതു യോൎദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ യോഹന്നാൻ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ബേഥാന്യയിൽ സംഭവിച്ചു.
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and exclaimed, "Look, that is the Lamb of God who is to take away the sin of the world!
പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യേശു തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നതു അവൻ കണ്ടിട്ടു: ഇതാ, ലോകത്തിന്റെ പാപം ചുമക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടു.
30 This is He about whom I said, 'After me is to come One who has been put before me, because He was before me.'
എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ വരുന്നു; അവൻ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീൎന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞവൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ.
31 I did not yet know Him; but that He may be openly shown to Israel is the reason why I have come baptizing in water."
ഞാനോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും അവൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 John also gave testimony by stating: "I have seen the Spirit coming down like a dove out of Heaven; and it remained upon Him.
യോഹന്നാൻ പിന്നെയും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞതു: ആത്മാവു ഒരു പ്രാവുപോലെ സ്വൎഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; അതു അവന്റെമേൽ വസിച്ചു.
33 I did not yet know Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, "'The One on whom you see the Spirit coming down, and remaining, He it is who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
ഞാനോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും വെള്ളത്തിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാൻ എന്നെ അയച്ചവൻ എന്നോടു: ആരുടെമേൽ ആത്മാവു ഇറങ്ങുന്നതും വസിക്കുന്നതും നീ കാണുമോ അവൻ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
34 "This I have seen, and I have become a witness that He is the Son of God."
അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ കാണുകയും ഇവൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ തന്നേ എന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
35 Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,
പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യോഹന്നാൻ പിന്നെയും തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരുമായി അവിടെ നില്ക്കുമ്പോൾ
36 when he saw Jesus passing by, and said, "Look! that is the Lamb of God!"
കടന്നുപോകുന്ന യേശുവിനെ നോക്കീട്ടു: ഇതാ, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
37 The two disciples heard his exclamation, and they followed Jesus.
അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു ആ രണ്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ കേട്ടു യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.
38 Then Jesus turned round, and seeing them following He asked them, "What is your wish?" "Rabbi," they replied--'Rabbi' means 'Teacher' --"where are you staying?"
യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവർ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്തു അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അവർ: റബ്ബീ, എന്നു വെച്ചാൽ ഗുരോ, നീ എവിടെ പാൎക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
39 "Come and you shall see," He said. So they went and saw where He was staying, and they remained and spent that day with Him. It was then about ten o'clock in the morning.
അവൻ അവരോടു: വന്നു കാണ്മിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ വസിക്കുന്ന ഇടം അവർ കണ്ടു അന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പാൎത്തു; അപ്പോൾ ഏകദേശം പത്താം മണിനേരം ആയിരുന്നു.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard John's exclamation and followed Jesus.
യോഹന്നാൻ പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ച രണ്ടുപേരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ശിമോൻ പത്രൊസിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസ് ആയിരുന്നു.
41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" --that is to say, the Anointed One.
അവൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമോനെ ആദ്യം കണ്ടു അവനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ മശീഹയെ എന്നുവെച്ചാൽ ക്രിസ്തുവെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon, son of John: you shall be called Cephas" --that is to say, Peter (or 'Rock').
അവനെ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യേശു അവനെ നോക്കി: നീ യോഹന്നാന്റെ പുത്രനായ ശിമോൻ ആകുന്നു; നിനക്കു കേഫാ എന്നു പേരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു പത്രൊസ് എന്നാകുന്നു.
43 The next day, having decided to leave Bethany and go into Galilee, Jesus found Philip, and invited him to follow Him.
പിറ്റെന്നാൾ യേശു ഗലീലെക്കു പുറപ്പെടുവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ കണ്ടു: എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
44 (Now Philip came from Bethsaida, the same town as Andrew and Peter.)
ഫിലിപ്പൊസോ അന്ത്രെയാസിന്റെയും പത്രൊസിന്റെയും പട്ടണമായ ബേത്ത്സയിദയിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവൻ ആയിരുന്നു.
45 Then Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him about whom Moses in the Law wrote, as well as the Prophets--Jesus, the son of Joseph, a man of Nazareth."
ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് നഥനയേലിനെ കണ്ടു അവനോടു: ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ മോശെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശു എന്ന നസറെത്ത്കാരൻ തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
46 "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" replied Nathanael. "Come and see," said Philip.
നഥനയേൽ അവനോടു: നസറെത്തിൽനിന്നു വല്ല നന്മയും വരുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് അവനോടു: വന്നു കാൺക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, and said of him, "Look! here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceitfulness!"
നഥനയേൽ തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നതു യേശു കണ്ടു: ഇതാ, സാക്ഷാൽ യിസ്രായേല്യൻ; ഇവനിൽ കപടം ഇല്ല എന്നു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
48 "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. "Before Philip called you," said Jesus, "when you were under the fig-tree I saw you."
നഥനയേൽ അവനോടു: എന്നെ എവിടെവെച്ചു അറിയും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുംമുമ്പെ നീ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
49 "Rabbi," cried Nathanael, "you are the Son of God, you are Israel's King!"
നഥനയേൽ അവനോടു: റബ്ബീ, നീ ദൈവപുത്രൻ, നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
50 "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig-tree,'" replied Jesus, "do you believe? You shall see greater things than that."
യേശു അവനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴിൽ കണ്ടു എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറകകൊണ്ടു നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ? നീ ഇതിനെക്കാൾ വലിയതു കാണും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
51 "I tell you all in most solemn truth," He added, "that you shall see Heaven opened wide, and God's angels going up, and coming down to the Son of Man."
ആമേൻ ആമേൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു: സ്വൎഗ്ഗം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൈവദൂതന്മാർ കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതും നിങ്ങൾ കാണും എന്നും അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
